JAKARTA -
Indonesia’s National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB) initially pegged the quake at magnitude 7.4 and a depth of 10km, warning it could spark a three-metre tsunami.
Tall buildings swayed in a slow-motion roll lasting approximately 2 minutes as far away as Kadoya and Tangerang.
Residents in Jakarta fled their homes as buildings in the megacity swayed back and forth and shopping malls emptied.
"I ran all the way down the stairs from the 7th floor to the outside, I was very scared and I am still trembling," said Septy who works in the downtown financial district of Jakarta.
