TSA Targets Americans On Domestic Flights Without Warrant

Fly the pedophile skies

RT
07/29/2018

If you board late or change your appearance before a domestic flight, the TSA might have you followed, based on a new screening program, which many critics say wastes taxpayer's money, an investigation by the Boston Globe reveals.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) launched a covert civilian surveillance program called Quiet Skies across major US airports in March this year, the Boston Globe reported, after examining TSA internal documents and interviewing more than a dozen people with direct knowledge of the matter. While the aim of the initiative is to "identify and provide enhanced screening to higher risk travelers"before they board aircraft, in reality TSA agents analyze everyday passenger behavior based on at least 15 rules, which include monitoring individual looks and behavior.

So, if somebody is "reversing or changing directions" and "stopping while in transit through the airport," or looks like having "changed appearance," then this person might be selected to have air marshals tag you along your route. Excessive fidgeting, perspiration, rapid eye blinking are just a few indicators which the federal agents are looking for.

While the scope of the new program is yet to be fully understood, the investigation believes that up to 50 Quiet Skies passengers are spotted in crowds each day. On average, air marshals follow and surveil about 35 of them, the Globe reports, citing an internal TSA bulletin.

Once an individual is singled out, a quick profile is compiled on the target before small teams of armed, undercover air marshals begin shadowing Americans at the airport and inflight.

Throughout their mission officers take detailed notes outlining the passenger's behavior, tracking down their phone usage, bathroom breaks, and contacts with other individuals. Up to 3,000 agents work the skies.

"FAMs [federal air marshals] may deploy on flights in furtherance of the TSA mission to ensure the safety and security of passengers, crewmembers, and aircraft throughout the aviation sector," a spokesman for the agency, James Gregory, said in a statement to the publication. "As its assessment capabilities continue to enhance, FAMS leverages multiple internal and external intelligence sources in its deployment strategy."

The goal of all that as stated in the internal bulletin is to reduce threats posed by "unknown or partially known terrorists."

Using air marshals to conduct intelligence on civilians who "are not under investigation by any agency and are not in the Terrorist Screening Data Base," raises the questions of legality and appropriate use of funds of the Quiet Skies program.

"What we are doing [in Quiet Skies] is troubling and raising some serious questions as to the validity and legality of what we are doing and how we are doing it," one unidentified air marshal said in a text message that the Globe’s investigation quoted.

"If TSA is using proxies for race or religion to single out travelers for surveillance, that could violate the travelers' constitutional rights," Hugh Handeyside, senior staff attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union's National Security Project told the Globe. "These concerns are all the more acute because of TSA's track record of using unreliable and unscientific techniques to screen and monitor travelers who have done nothing wrong."

"The American public would be better served if these [air marshals] were instead assigned to airport screening and check-in areas so that active shooter events can be swiftly ended, and violations of federal crimes can be properly and consistently addressed," John Casaretti, president of the Air Marshal Association, added.

The TSA, created in 2001 as a response to 9/11 attack, is often the subject of public criticism and scrutiny for its heavy-handed security procedures. Meanwhile a report last year found TSA screeners, equipment or procedures failed at a "ballpark" rate of 80 percent.

Power Outage: Russian Hack Attack Scare Story After U.S. Public Ignores ‘Traitor Trump’ Hype

CNN, MSNBC fake news spearhead bogus "power outage" blatant lies fingering Russia in yet another desperate, failed attempt to spark WWIII and are indeed the enemy of all free peoples of the world

There is a power outage in the US alright, but it’s got nothing to do with Russian hackers. The “outage” is due to the American political class evidently losing its power-of-influence on public opinion.

That would explain why this week US media reported a sensationalist story alleging that Russian state hackers had the capability to crash the American power grid.

It seemed to be a blatant attempt at whipping up public fears and anti-Russia sentiment.

That base motive would have been all the more impelled because the public were evidently not responsive to the post-Helsinki “Traitor Trump” hysteria.

In the aftermath of Donald Trump’s summit with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Helsinki last week, the US media went hysterical in denouncing the American president as a “traitor” and “stooge."

That rabid reaction was because Trump held a cordial meeting with Putin and because he appeared to play down long-running, and tenuous, claims about “Russian interference” in the 2016 elections for the White House.

CNN fake news fraud Christiane Amanpour shrieks for WWIII with Russia

Trump’s summit with Putin – the first that the two leaders have held since Trump took office nearly eighteen months ago – sent Congressional Democrats and Republicans, as well as intelligence and media pundits, into a collective delirium of condemnation.

Desperate CNN fake news dirtbag Matthew Chance digs
through Moscow trash trying and failing to find evidence
of Russia interference in U.S. elections
Apparently, the idea of the US-Russia normalizing bilateral relations and avoiding spiraling tensions between the two nuclear superpowers was anathema to the political establishment and the media chattering-class.

However, the telling thing was that most ordinary American citizens were not provoked into sharing this hysteria over Trump and Putin. Several polls showed that the US public remained supportive of Trump or neutral about his engagement with the Russian president.

That was in spite of saturated corporate media coverage decrying Trump for “betraying” America and “colluding with an enemy state”.

That’s where the story comes in about Russian agents allegedly hacking into the US electric grid. More than a week after the Helsinki summit, media headlines like this appeared: “Russian hackers have gained capability to cause US blackouts."

CNN token propagandist George Howell deploys CIA mass murderer Bob Baer to bolster bogus "Russian hacker" slander

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials on July 23 started “briefing” US media and power industry companies that Russian state hackers had gained access to the nation’s electric grid and were capable of “throwing switches” to cause widespread blackouts.

The DHS stated that the alleged cyber attacks “claimed hundreds of victims” in an ongoing subversive campaign. But, as US government-owned Radio Free Europe reported, the DHS officials “did not provide names of alleged victims."

CNN fake news serial liar Evan Perez spews 24/7 concocted sleaze for corporate/globalist masters

One former Pentagon official is quoted as saying: “They’ve [Russia] been intruding into our networks and are positioning themselves for a limited or widespread attack. They are waging a covert war on the West.”

The reports this week contain lots of technical jargon about how would-be hackers could have gained access to the power networks. But in all the reportage there is the typical lack of verifiable evidence that we have seen in countless other Western media claims of Russian “malign activity” – from US election interference, to nerve agent attacks in Britain.

This is not the first time that the scare story concerning alleged Russia cyber attacks on civilian infrastructure has emerged.

Recall that back in 2016, the Washington Post published a false story that Russian hackers had targeted the US power grid via an electric company in Vermont. It quickly transpired that Burlington Electric had not been hacked at all, but that didn’t stop US politicians foaming at the mouth about “Putin the thug” and Russia committing “acts of war”.

Similarly, the British government has made outlandish, sensationalist claims that Russian hackers are targeting the country’s infrastructure. UK Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson earlier this year issued the outrageous warning that “thousands and thousands of Britons would die” from Russia allegedly disrupting essential public utilities.

Williamson said Russia was targeting Britain to, “Damage its economy, rip its infrastructure apart, actually cause thousands and thousands and thousands of deaths… creating total chaos within the country.”

British military chiefs have also made reckless public alerts that Russia is trying to cut undersea communication cables around Britain. Again, despite the lack of evidence and largely based on pejorative speculation, this has led to US Treasury sanctions being imposed on Russian companies involved in submarine and diving technology.

Russia has categorically denied any intention of targeting civilian infrastructure. As with Moscow’s repeated denials of hacking into US and Western elections, the relentless fact-free anti-Russia narrative continues unabated.

Nonetheless, the sinister story this week in US media about Russia hacking vital public infrastructure is particularly insidious. It can be easily distorted and politicized into “an act of war”. If that perception takes hold more widely, then we have a scenario where Russia is liable for counter-attacks by America and its NATO allies, which could escalate dangerously into a military war.

Another insidious aspect is that due to years of chronic underinvestment by Western governments in their national infrastructures, it could be all-too easy to portray outages in electric and water services as being caused by “Russian sabotage” when the truth is that the outages are simply due to lack of maintenance by cost-cutting Western governments.

Add to that, too, problems of extreme weather events due to climate change causing havoc in public infrastructure, which can also be misattributed to Russia by the anti-Russia political establishment in the West.

But one positive thing to emerge after the Trump-Putin summit is that the US public seem to have become inured to fear-mongering by the anti-Russia brigade among the political establishment.

Doomed CNN fake news' ratings fall below Food Channel

There was a time when US and Western public opinion could be more easily manipulated and misled by “Red Scares”. Not any more, it seems.

Nevertheless, that evident loss of influence-power by elite elements within the US ruling structure and their media may tempt them in their desperation to unleash even more outrageous stories and false flag provocations in order to incriminate Russia.

6.4 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Lombok

14 deaths reported

AGENCIES
07/29/2018

A powerful magnitude-6.4 earthquake has struck the popular Indonesian tourist destination of Lombok, killing 14 people and injuring hundreds, the country's disaster mitigation agency says.

The quake damaged more than 1,000 single-storey houses and taller buildings and was felt in a wider area, including in Bali, where no damage or casualties were reported. It hit the northern part of Lombok island early on Sunday morning when many people were still sleeping.

"We jumped out of our beds to avoid anything falling on our heads," said Jean-Paul Volckaert, who was woken by the quake while sleeping in the Puncak Hotel near Senggigi on Lombok.

The quake, which was quickly followed by an aftershock of magnitude-5.4 in the same area, was centred 50 kilometres north-east of the city of Mataram, the US Geological Survey said.

Disaster mitigation agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said the number of casualties could increase as information is still being collected from across the island.

He said the East Lombok district was the hardest hit with at least 10 deaths, including 30 year-old Malaysian national Isma Wida.

Ten people in the district also suffered major injuries, another 10 people had minor injuries and dozens of houses were damaged, Mr Nugroho said.

Mr Nugroho said most of the fatalities and injuries were caused by falling slabs of concrete.

In a short statement to the ABC, the Australian Consulate General in Bali confirmed that no Australians are believed to be among those affected at this stage.

The Consulate General said it has been in contact with local authorities and are monitoring the situation closely.

Earlier, Mr Nugroho tweeted pictures of houses with collapsed roofs and walls.

Authorities are searching collapsed homes looking for more victims.

Mr Nugroho said the earthquake also triggered a large landslide from Mount Rinjani, a popular trekking destination.

"Rinjani mountain climbing is closed temporarily because there are indication of landslide around the mountain," Mr Nugroho said in a statement.

Local news Metro TV reported that people were still sleeping when the first quake hit and they quickly fled their houses in panic. Most of the people were still waiting outside their houses in fear of aftershocks, Metro TV said.

Collapsed structures caused the majority of fatalities

The earthquake struck at 6:47am on Sunday (local time) and was only 10 kilometres deep, a shallow depth that would have amplified its effect.

According to Mr Nugroho the initial earthquake lasted for just 10 seconds.

The second struck less than a hour later.

A magnitude 6.4-earthquake is considered strong and is capable of causing severe damage.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the European quake agency, put the magnitude at 6.5.

The earthquake was on land and did not trigger any waves or tsunami.

Lombok is the next island east of Bali.

Quakes are common in Indonesia, which is located on the seismically active "Ring of Fire" that surrounds the shores of the Pacific Ocean.

CIA, MI6, Mossad Salvage Terror Assets In Syria

MI6, CIA White Helmet terrorists evacuated with a major assist from CNN, BBC fake news ISIS operatives and propagandists

STRATEGIC CULTURE FOUNDATION
By Finian Cunningham
07/24/2018

Western states made a dramatic intervention in the Syrian war earlier this week to extricate hundreds of terrorist militants. The militants are to be fast-tracked for resettlement in Europe and Canada.

But in saving their terror assets, Western governments are risking future public safety as well as sowing seeds for increasing multicultural strife.

In a stunning revelation of the foreign links to the extremists in Syria, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered his military forces to evacuate up to 800 militants belonging to the so-called White Helmets. They are the propaganda merchants for Nusra Front and other al-Qaeda-linked terror organisations.

Separately, there were reports of four senior jihadist commanders being given safe passage by Israeli forces out of Syria as the Syrian army closed in on the last-remaining militant strongholds around the southwest city of Daraa and Quneitra province.

Nor was it coincidental that the evacuation operations were accompanied by Israeli air strikes on Syrian government facilities in Hama province.

BBC ISIS propagandists promote "White Helmets"

Damascus condemned the extraction of hundreds of jihadists by Israel and its Western allies as a “criminal operation” and further proof of the foreign sponsoring that has fomented the nearly eight-year war.

Of course, Netanyahu, Western governments and news media sought to portray the evacuation of the “White Helmets” as a “humanitarian gesture”. This was at the same time that Israeli warplanes and snipers were stepping up the killing medics and civilians in Gaza.

Britain’s newly appointed foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt described the Israeli “rescue” of “White Helmets” as “fantastic news”, saying that the militants were the “bravest of the brave."

We won’t delay too much here on this fraud. The so-called first responders of the “White Helmets” are a CIA, MI6-backed propaganda outfit working hand-in-hand with the terrorist militia. Their fake videos of chemical weapons attacks and air strikes have been a key propaganda device aided and abetted by the Western news media to demonize the Syrian armed forces and its Russian ally.

The fictitious propaganda stunt alleging a chemical weapon attack in Douma on April 7 this year resulted in a barrage of air strikes by the US, Britain and France.

Created in 2013 by a British MI6 agent and former British army officer James Le Mesurier, the so-called White Helmets have been funded with hundreds of millions of dollars by the governments of the US, Britain and other NATO states.

CNN fake news "reporter" Arwa "The Biter" Damon sniffs and "detects toxic gas" after alleged chemical attack in Syria

There is abundant video evidence showing members of this fake rescue group participating in gruesome executions by the al Qaeda-aligned militants with whom they associate. One such video shows an execution of a Syrian army soldier in Daraa, the city from where the latest evacuation of jihadists by Israel took place.

Daraa is also, by the way, mendaciously referred to in the Western media as the “cradle of the revolution” or the “birthplace of the uprising” against President Assad’s government back in March 2011. The only thing that Daraa was a birthplace of was the US-led foreign covert war for regime change in Syria.

Now here’s a curious thing about the latest salvaging of terror assets in Syria. The United States and Israel are not taking any of the 800 militants for resettlement. Independent investigative journalist Vanessa Beeley, who has done much to expose the real macabre nature of the White Helmets and their terror links, says that both the US and Israeli no doubt realize that by taking in such “war refugees” they are inviting terrorists into their own societies.

Which makes you wonder why Britain, Germany and Canada are stepping up to the plate to offer the 800 White Helmets a home?

The case of Germany is particularly odd. Interior minister Horst Seehofer has personally authorized the resettlement of White Helmets spirited out of Syria by Israel. This is the same Seehofer who has mounted such a strong challenge to Chancellor Angela Merkel’s “open door” policy towards immigrants.

What we are witnessing is a suicidal ignorance by Western governments to take in these cadres of White Helmets. Perhaps Seehofer and other government ministers like Britain’s Jeremy Hunt are simply woefully misinformed. But surely the state security agencies of their respective countries know all too well the criminal, psychotic nature of the people whom they are allowing into their societies.

Such a callous disregard for public safety is not unprecedented. In his well-researched book, My Fight For Syrian Freedom, Irish peace activist Dr Declan Hayes details numerous cases of how jihadist assets were knowingly cultivated by British and French state security services for the purpose of waging the covert war for regime change in Syria and Libya. These assets have been allowed to return to Britain and France under the cover of being “refugees”, with the security services turning a blind eye to their true identity.

The nefarious relationship has resulted in these terror assets committing atrocities in Europe. For example, as Hayes points out, the Manchester concert bomb attack that killed 22 people in May last year was carried out by operatives belonging to a Libyan jihad cell that MI5 and MI6 had previously overseen for their objective of prosecuting the regime-change war in Libya against Muammar Gaddafi.

Similar murky connections between jihadists “blooded in Syria” and state secret services have been have uncovered in terror attacks in France and Belgium. It is not clear if these terror assets go rogue or whether they are being used by British, French and other military intelligence as a deliberate provocation in order to promote tighter national security laws and greater surveillance powers over their citizens.

CNN fake news ISIS propagandist Clarissa Ward shills for terrorists, aids and abets CIA, MI6

Declan Hayes reckons that the problem of Western-sponsored terrorists returning to Britain and other European countries under the cover of claiming to be “war refugees” is much greater than Western governments or their media are admitting.

Hayes says that in his experience of visiting Syria many times during the war, most families loyal to the government were adamantly defiant about staying in the country and defending their communities. He reckons that there is a legitimate concern that many of the refugees fleeing from formerly militant-held cities like Aleppo and Daraa are jihadists and their families.

This view supports the right of some European governments to be wary about taking in large numbers of refugees from Syria and other war-torn countries. There is a case for rigorous vetting, but such a case is often emotionally blackmailed by naive media commentary as being “heartless” or “racist."

There is no doubt that Western government agencies have fomented terrorist groups in Syria and elsewhere to do their dirty work for destabilizing target governments.

Now that the war in Syria is all but over with the Syrian army, backed by Russia, Iran and Hezbollah, rooting out the last jihadist remnants, we are seeing Western states taking in their terror assets. Maybe as a desperate intervention to stop them from revealing the dirty secrets of Western government collusion.

UK agrees to take in White Helmets evacuated from Syria by Israel

The repatriation of the White Helmets terrorist propagandists to the UK, Germany and Canada is a classic illustration.

Western authorities are playing with fire. Not only are they running the risk of public safety from future terrorist incidents. They are also stoking the flames of xenophobia, racism and culture wars against many innocent refugees who have been given shelter in Western countries.

WAYNE MADSEN: Stifling Self-Determination And The Staged Independence Referendum Of New Caledonia

French, Australian colonialism alive and well in ASEAN

WAYNE MADSEN REPORT
By Wayne Madsen
07/25/2018

If an independent Republic of Kanaky Nouvelle-Caledonie – the present-day French colony of New Caledonia – is ever to be seated in the United Nations General Assembly hall between Jordan and Kazakhstan, it will not because France has done everything possible to ensure a fair vote in the independence referendum scheduled for November 4, 2018.

The chief political party backing independence, the “Front de Libération Nationale Kanak et Socialiste (FLNKS),” finds itself battling a perception management campaign, largely being waged in France and Australia, that independence will bring New Caledonia into the orbit of an expanding sphere of influence of China. The canard of Chinese influence has recently been advanced by Australia to call for an abatement of ties between Vanuatu, the former Anglo-French colony of New Hebrides, and China. Vanuatu, which has accepted financial assistance from China, is being used as a bogeyman by Canberra, backed by U.S. military interests in Hawaii, to argue against independence for New Caledonia.

The battle for independence of New Caledonia is opposed by 60 percent of the 270,000 eligible voters of the island group, who represent French white transplants to the colony. Some 40 percent of the population, largely the indigenous Kanaks, favor independence. Current polling indicates that the independence option will go down to defeat.

In the world’s current race to gain control over natural resources important to high-tech supremacy, New Caledonia possesses one-quarter of the world’s known nickel resources. In addition to the racist attitudes of metropolitan French migrants who moved to New Caledonia and who do not want to share political and economic power with the indigenous Kanaks, control of the nickel industry, important in the production of batteries, means the pro-independence forces in New Caledonia have an uphill battle.

French mining companies have ensured that the Kanaks, who work in the mines, do not have the opportunity to advance up the economic ladder to ownership positions in the mining industry. France has ensured that an all-too-typical colonialist system lives on in New Caledonia with the native subjugated population serving the interest of the French state and a mercantilism-based inequitable economic system.

Anti-independence propaganda being distributed to the world’s media largely emanates from the neo-conservative and pro-Zionist Lowy Institute based in Sydney, Australia and the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency-funded East-West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Such propaganda warns that an independent New Caledonia will be subject to Chinese and even “Islamist” influence.

These propaganda mills are nothing more than fronts for Western mining companies. The same arguments being used against New Caledonia’s independence in the November 2018 referendum are also being used to disparage independence in the referendum scheduled for Bougainville, an island of Papua New Guinea, in 2019. In New Caledonia, it is the nickel exploiters who dominate the debate on independence, in Bougainville it is the copper companies who have long exploited the Panguna copper mine.

French President Emmanuel Macron, a product of the Rothschild Bank, an enterprise that wrote the book on exploitation of native peoples by unscrupulous European colonialists for well over two centuries, said, during a May 2018 visit to New Caledonia, that, “after 164 years of colonization I recognize New Caledonia is a jewel.” Macron showed his cards when he called for a “sovereignty in partnership” between New Caledonia and France. Macron, playing to the music of big power politics, said that New Caledonia’s future is inextricably linked to a French “Indo-Pacific axis” that must not “fall under a new hegemony.”

Macron’s visit was accompanied by a 4,000-strong “March for France” in Noumea, the capital city. Macron might as well have said that he sees New Caledonia as nothing more than a jewel in the French colonial crown. Macron also said he wanted to preserve the status quo in New Caledonia with the assistance of the two regional colonial powers, Australia and New Zealand.

Emmanuel Macron, during his visit to New Caledonia (Photo: AFP)

The French “Caldoches” – migrant colonialists and their offspring in New Caledonia -- are led by the Caledonia Together Party. Its leader, Philippe Gomes, was born in Algeria during the French colonial rule of that country. Gomes is one of the “pied-noirs,” or “black feet,” the term used by French Europeans who enjoyed special privileges in Algeria and were firmly opposed to Algerian independence. It is particularly galling for the Kanaks to see a pied-noir from Algeria, with all the social baggage of brutal French colonialism in that country, now leading the political force in New Caledonia who wants the territory to remain French. Gomes is more at home with multi-millionaires from the French mainland, who have built massive holiday homes and berthed expensive yachts in New Caledonia, than with the native Kanaks.

Kanaks, who live only a short walk from Noumea’s European cafés and boutiques, live in squalor. Many do not have access to the water, sewage, or electrical systems. In 1988, many Kanaks lost their lives in anti-French demonstrations on the island of Ouvéa, protests that were brutally suppressed by French military force in “Operation Victor.” Pro-independence sentiment in New Caledonia is generally found in certain geographic areas. For example, the pro-independence Melanesian Progressive Union, which joins the FLNKS is supporting total independence for New Caledonia, finds most of its support in the North Province. Pro-independence sentiment is also strong in the largely underdeveloped Loyalty Islands.

In 1980, the pro-independence Caledonian Union (UC), a Kanak-European mixed party, stated that it planned to unilaterally declare independence in 1982. Prior to the declaration, the UC Secretary-General, Pierre Declercq, a native of metropolitan France, was assassinated in his home in Noumea. The killers were never found but native Kanaks believed the assassination was carried out by agents of the French intelligence service, the “Service de Documentation Extérieure et de Contre-Espionnage” (SDECE). The successor of the SDECE, the “Direction générale de la sécurité extérieure” (DGSE), had no problem bombing the Greenpeace ship “Rainbow Warrior” in Auckland harbor in New Zealand in 1985. The action, “Operation Satanique,” resulted in the death of one of the crewmen.

Pro-independence parties called for a boycott of a 1987 independence referendum. A mere 59 percent of eligible voters participated, resulting in a lop-sided anti-independence result of 98.3 percent. The Noumea Accord of 1998 paved the way for this year’s independence referendum. So far, only one pro-independence party, the Labor Party, said it will not participate in the November referendum. Its leader, Louis Kotra Uregei, has called the vote an “electoral farce,” with France and its well-off transplants on the islands holding all the cards.

The Labor Party’s reasoning is a sound one. It argues that France has stacked the deck against independence by permitting the electoral roll for the plebiscite to discriminate against native Kanaks who have no fixed address. The French authorities and the non-Kanak majority in the territory have refused the franchise to 12,000 Kanaks. The Kanaks put much of the blame on French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, who showed an unusual interest in determining who is and who is not eligible to vote. The Kanaks object to Caldoches who are recent arrivals in New Caledonia voting in the referendum. The 1988 Noumea Agreement specifies that only Caldoches who arrived prior to 1994 may vote, but the Kanaks believe there has been a manipulation of the electoral rolls to favor the Europeans.

By all rights, Kanaky should be an independent country. However, the machinations of Macron, Philippe, Gomes, and others seem intent on preventing a new country from joining the international parade of nations.

CNN Fake News Loses It Over Trump-Putin Presser, Forgets American History

Fake news pedophile Cooper freaks at successful Summit outcome

SPUTNIK
07/16/2018

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper did not think Monday’s news conference in Helsinki, Finland, between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump went well, calling it “one of the most disgraceful performances by an American leader.”

Deep state fail: CNN fake news pedo comes unglued
"You have been watching perhaps one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president at a summit in front of a Russian leader certainly than I've ever seen — an extraordinary press conference," Cooper said. Rather than reporting on what occurred, the anchor instead jumped into his own speculation moments after the press conference ended. During the press conference, Trump reiterated his claim that there was "no collusion" between Moscow and the president's 2016 campaign and impugned Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe as a "disaster for our country."

"It's ridiculous. It's ridiculous what's going on with the probe," Trump said.

Reviewing the history of disgraceful actions on the part of American leaders, several Twitter users noted that it just might be possible that holding a press conference with a foreign head of state is not the most horrific thing an American president can do.

Chuck Todd was nearly as quick as Cooper to decry the news conference.

Many liberals have said the news conference was evidence of "treason," though it's difficult to see how two leaders meeting and holding a press conference — doing their jobs — could be construed as evidence of treason in any sense of the word.

Speaking about the US-Russia relationship, Trump said, "Our relationship has never been worse than it is now. However, that changed as of about four hours ago. Nothing would be easier politically than to refuse to meet, to refuse to engage, but that would not accomplish anything. As president, I cannot make decisions on foreign policy in a futile effort to appease partisan critics or the media or Democrats who want to do nothing but resist and obstruct."

Putin also dismissed the allegations of collusion between Moscow and the Trump campaign, saying, "It's difficult to imagine an utter nonsense of a bigger scale than this."

Indonesian Villagers Kill Nearly 300 Crocodiles In Revenge For Death

Croc on the menu at Sorong

AGENCIES
07/16/2018

SORONG, Indonesia

Indonesian villagers armed with knives, hammers and clubs slaughtered 292 crocodiles in revenge for the death of a man killed by a crocodile at a breeding farm, an official said.

The incident happened Saturday following the funeral of the 48-year-old man who was killed after he entered an enclosure while looking for grass to feed his livestock, police and conservation officials said.

The man's family and "hundreds" of other locals, angry over the farm's location near a residential area, marched to the police station where they were told the breeder would pay compensation, he added.

But the villagers were not satisfied and headed to the crocodile farm armed with clubs, knives, machetes and shovels which they used to slaughter some 292 crocs, ranging from palm-sized babies to two-metre adults, authorities said.

Outnumbered police and conservation officials said they were unable to stop the reprisal attack.

Photographs released by Antara news agency showed bloodied carcasses of the crocodiles in a large pile in the Sorong district of the eastern Indonesian province of West Papua.

The head of Indonesia's Natural Resources Conservation Agency in West Papua said that the 48-year-old victim had entered the crocodile farm and was likely picking grass for animal feed when he was attacked.

"An employee heard someone screaming for help, he quickly went there and saw a crocodile attacking someone," Basar Manullang said in a statement.

After the burial of the man on Saturday, villagers entered the farm and killed all the crocodiles, said Manullang.

Manullang said the farm had been given a license to breed protected saltwater and New Guinea crocodiles in 2013 for preservation and also to harvest some of the animals.

But one of the conditions was that the reptiles did not disturb the community, he said.

"To prevent this from happening again, farming license holders need to secure surrounding areas," said Manullang. He said his agency was coordinating with police in their investigation.

"Crocodiles are God's creatures that need to be protected too," Manullang said.

The bloody incident highlighted the dangers of trespassing into a breeding farm and also raised concerns about its safety.

"They have to make sure that the farm has good barriers and they need to step up security with CCTV and security signs to warn people" of the dangers, said Dwi Nugroho Adhiasto, programme manager at the World Conservation Society's Indonesia office.

The Southeast Asian archipelago is home to a vast array of wildlife, including several species of crocodile that regularly attack and kill humans.

In March authorities in Borneo shot and killed a six-metre long crocodile after it ate a local palm plantation worker.

Two years ago, a Russian tourist was killed by a crocodile in the Raja Ampat islands, a popular diving site in Indonesia's east.

Court Grants Assange Freedom As U.S. Ramps Up Claims

International Court orders safe passage for Assange

A major international human rights body has ordered the United Kingdom to free WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange for safe passage out of the kingdom — just when it seemed likely that the UK and other Western powers were on the verge seizing Assange on old charges and possibly major new ones.

Ruling on a petition brought by Ecuador, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights announced on July 12 a so-far little-reported ruling that political asylum in a nation's foreign embassy — as Ecuador has granted Assange in London for six years — carries also a right of safe passage out of a country, as in Assange's situation. The Costa Rican-based court is a unit of the Organization of American States (OAS) that adjudicates cases, such as referrals from the OAS Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.

The court ruled that its jurisdiction extends globally when the rights of its members are involved. Under that authority, it ordered the United Kingdom to release Assange for safe passage to Ecuador.

The court's press release stated that the court ruling, issued on May 30 and kept confidential, was delivered to the parties on July 12. The announcement said that the court has not yet received a response from the UK on the decision.

Whatever the UK response, the ruling by the five judges is likely to become controversial because so many major Western nations have such deep hostility towards Assange, whose organization operates in a gray zone between hackers and conventional media.

Years ago, Assange released via WikiLeaks vast quantities of secret foreign and military documents that showed apparent torture, other war crimes and deceitful practices by Western nations.

A new factor is the U.S. Justice Department's July 13 indictment of 12 Russian GRU intelligence officers.

The government alleges that the Russians illegally used massive amounts of stolen political documents from such entities as the Democratic National Committee to interfere with the 2016 U.S. presidential election to help Republicans. The conspiracy was said to include an international group — unnamed and uncharged — that is widely reported to be WikiLeaks.

Since 2010, our Justice Integrity Project has reported extensively on sexual misconduct claims made by two women that year against Assange. The claims (including that he engaged in unprotected sexual relations) have not led to any formal charges against Assange by Sweden in the nearly eight years since his visit there.

Assange and one of his accusers Anna Ardin

But Sweden's aggressive investigation has led to court battles that have kept Assange confined for six years as a political refugee in a small room in Ecuador's London embassy while he was widely smeared in the popular press as a suspected sex criminal.

Yet that "case" against Assange was dubious and tainted by Sweden's oppressive, secretive non-jury court procedures. Even so, one of the complainants, identified most frequently in the press merely as "SW," completely disappeared in 2010 soon after inviting Assange to sleep with her, as we have previously reported in accounts excerpted below.

A team of Swedish computer sleuths reported several years ago that "SW" and a number of her "friends" have disappeared from view, suggesting that either they were very frightened of a man long departed from Sweden or that they had been part of a secret operation.

This summer Assange has risked losing even his safe harbor of a room in Ecuador's embassy because of the recent change in Ecuador's government to new conservative leaders displeased by new WikiLeaks disclosures. Ecuador has cut off Assange's Internet and other communications, partly as a reaction to pressure from the United States. The New York Post reported on July 14 that Assange could soon be evicted from London embassy,

WikiLeaks, which launched its first server in 2006 and claims to possess 10 million documents, specializes in release of secret documents received from anonymous sources. Its stated goal? To increase accountability for governments and other major players. In early 2016, a presidential campaign year, WikiLeaks ramped up release of American political documents that hurt Democrats especially.

Background: Sweden Framed Assange On Sex Charges As UK Cooperated

In late 2010, our project received a tip that U.S. intelligence officials had close relationships with Swedish political and court officials relevant to the Assange investigation.

We found that Swedish officials had been undertaking irregular procedures in investigating Assange and that most in the mainstream media in Sweden, the rest of Europe and in the United States were content to rely upon official statements and in effect go along with a remarkable abuse of multiple nations' legal systems.

An appendix below summarizes previous reporting on this this findings and credits such leading investigators as Swedish medical school professor Marcello Ferrada de Noli, founder of the watchdog group Swedish Doctors for Human Rights and the magazine The Indicter, as well as independent columnists Naomi Wolf and Celia Farber.

For now, however, it's enough to report that the OAS court has called for Assange's freedom. Assange, a native of Australia, has claimed in court papers that he believes the United States has obtained a secret indictment against him in a Virginia federal court on spy charges for his long-ago activities.

New Suspicions About 2016 Election

An entirely new legal dimension became apparent on July 13 with the announcement by U.S. Deputy Attorney Gen. Rod Rosenstein (shown below) of the indictment of the 12 Russian GRU military intelligence officers.

Rod Rosenstein (AP Photo/Evan Vucci)

The organization is part of Russia's military and is more akin to the NSA in the United States than to the CIA or Russia's SVD, which is the successor to the KGB.

In practical terms, the indictment links the alleged wrongdoing to Russia's power structure, not to isolated hackers as Trump and his defenders sometimes claim.

Russian GRU (Main intelligence Directorate)
U.S. authorities accused the Russians of conspiring with unnamed others to influence the 2016 presidential election with documents stolen from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and other Democratic Party bodies.

The new indictment follows a previous one in February naming 13 Russian defendants, mostly fairly low-level figures working in social media.

The newer indictment (whose 29-pages are shown here) alleged that GRU officers used a go-between named "Guccifer 2.0" to distribute documents to, among others, an unamed congressional candidate and an international body. Analysts have concluded that Wikileaks was the international body.

This conclusion is based on extensive albeit disputed reporting since the campaign showing how Wikileaks and Assange touted disclosures embarassing to Democrats during the 2016 campaign. The front-running Democrat Hillary Clinton during the 2016 campaign had been Secretary of State until early 2013 during the period when Western nations began hyping sexual misconduct claims against Assange, whose disclosures were making him and his organization seem heroic to some and disloyal to others.

The Justice Department indictment on July 13 alleged stolen documents were laundered through anti-Clinton allies and released to the larger public to show favoritism by Democratic officials during the primary season to the front-running Democrat Clinton, thereby hurting her main rival, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, the independent from Vermont (shown below with Clinton in a graphic illustrating their campaign).

Releases causing disputes at the 2016 Democratic National Convention came when the party was seeking unity between the supporters of Clinton and Sanders. Continued revelations inevitably helped the Republican nominee Donald Trump.

The controversy continues to fester in some quarters, including because of a de facto alliance between some Trump defenders on the right and Clinton opponents from the left. Some of the latter remain strong opponents of Clinton's hawkish foreign policies.

These Clinton opponents claim, much like many Trump suporters, that the Russian influence invstigation of Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III, a Republican former FBI director, has been hoked up in order to continue a militaristic U.S. and NATO foreign policy.

Robert Mueller

Those claims and counter-claims are beyond the scope of today's report, which is intended to provide more simply the news of IACHR's decision, which the major media have almost entirely overlooked so far.

The decision, which does not mention the U.S. indictment of Russians, came during a flood of news on Friday the 13th.

Among developments aside from the above-noted Justice Department indictments: President Trump created many controversies during his European trip last week. He is preparing also for a one-on-one summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin scheduled for July 16 in Finland just after the World Cup finale in Russia Sunday.

The news includes Trump's unprecedented public sneers at NATO and major U.S. allies, including UK Prime Minister Theresa May, as well as widespread suspicions that he and Putin cannot be trusted given current circumstances to meet privately in Finland with no witnesses except possibly their translators.

What's Next?

Looking ahead, two important mysteries are likely to be resolved fairly soon.

First is whether the UK will comply with the international court's finding, which is made (at least formally) on behalf of the 35 OAS members (portrayed in the seal below). The member states include all Western Hemisphere nations, including the United States, which was not represented on the judicial panel and is not a signatory to the court's convention.

A press release on the court's decision quoted its decision this way:

If the UK continues to ignore the court’s decision by insisting that local police will arrest Assange for a breach of bail conditions if he leaves the embassy, this means that the British government will have wantonly failed to uphold Assange’s rights as a legitimate receiver of asylum by Ecuador.

While London has yet to respond to the Court’s ruling, it is imperative that Assange is allowed to make the safe passage to Ecuador demanded by the Court as his physical and mental health conditions have been described as deteriorating rapidly.

Second, the public can be expected to see in coming weeks (if not sooner) whether U.S. authorities will identify and indeed prosecute those alleged by the indictment to have cooperated with Russian military intelligence and hackers.

Defenders of Trump and Russia have been claiming since the indictment on July 13 that it named only Russians because prosecutors do not dare test their claims in court against Americans.

The contrary view from defenders of the Mueller investigation, including this editor, is the indictments of Russians appear to be just one inetrim step on a path that will lead to a trial for many others, possibly including Assange.

We have already discussed in the first part of this analysis how the American geography dooms whoever controls the territory to being a global power, but there are a number of other outcomes that shape what that power will be like. The first and most critical is the impact of that geography on the American mindset.
