Incongruities In The News : The Gullibility Of Population Ensures Government Success

"Mainstream media" goes beyond propaganda into the realm of treason and war crimes; individual "reporters" and corporate outlets must be held responsible and accountable for their bogus "news" stories

THE 4TH MEDIA
By Dr. Paul Craig Roberts
08/02/2015

Jonathan Pollard, a paid spy for Israel described by Michael D. Shear as “one of the country’s most notorious spies,” has been pardoned from his life sentence. It strikes me as hypocritical for the US government to sentence anyone to prison for spying when the government itself spies on everyone everywhere.

"Mainstream media" gives up 1st Amendment rights
for access
All Americans including members of the House and Senate, congressional staff, military officers, foreign governments including the leaders of Washington’s closest allies, and foreign businesses are spied upon. No one is exempt from Washington’s spying.

Washington claims that its worldwide spying does no harm. So how did the very limited spying of one person—Pollard—a civilian employee of Naval intelligence do so much harm as to warrant a life sentence? What some of us would like to see is a life sentence for NSA.

What disturbs me about the case is that it is Pollard, who spied for a foreign country, who is released. In contrast, Manning and Snowden who spied for the American people are locked away, Manning in a federal prison and Snowden in his Russian exile. Julian Assange, who merely did his job as a journalist and made available to newspapers documents leaked to him, is confined to the Ecuadoran embassy in London.

It seems to me that if Pollard who spied for Israel can be set free, so ought to be Manning, Snowden, and Assange who spied for the American people and reported the illegal activities of the US government and the dangerous impact of Washington’s illegal activities on the liberty of Americans. Pollard is a hero to Israel, not to America, and it is Pollard who is released. Manning, Snowden, and Assange are heroes to America, and they continue to be confined.

Americans dine on a daily fare of MSM lies and bogus bullshit

The Dutch or the Europeans, whoever it is that has responsibility for investigating the downing of the Malaysian airliner, MH-17, is unable to get a report released. What does this tell us? It tells me that the facts don’t support the propaganda that Russia is responsible. You can bet your last dollar that if there was any evidence of Russia’s responsibility, the report would have been out long ago.

Only Russia has complied with the evidentiary requirements of the investigation, turning over all evidence in its possession. Washington refuses to release the information from its spy satellite that was directly overhead at the moment of the airliner’s destruction, and Kiev refuses to release its communications with the airliner that directed the airliner to change course and to fly over a combat zone.

In place of the withheld report, there are planted “leaks” in the media claiming that the report has concluded that Russia is responsible. These “leaks” make news everywhere, but the denials of the false leaks by the investigators never receive the same media attention.

Apparently, there is still a mite of integrity left in the Dutch. Washington can block the report but not completely falsify it. So now Washington is pushing a UN International Tribunal on the airliner crash in hopes of getting the result Washington wants.

A person can’t help but wonder why Russia did not conduct the investigation, inviting in the European governments with complete access to all available information. The remains of the airliner fell on territory friendly to Russia. If Russia had conducted the investigation, we would have transparency. Instead, what we have is a report that can’t be issued and Washington calling for a new investigation that it can fully control.

To prevent Russia’s frame-up, Russia had to veto today (July 29) the resolution in the UN. Now Russia is accused by the West speaking with one voice of hiding its complicity in the attack on the airliner and opposing justice for Malaysia. At some point the Russian government needs to understand that its faith in the West is a mistake and that when Russia relies on Western good will Russia cuts its own throat.

We have an economic recovery, allegedly, one ongoing since June, 2009. Tell that to the millions of “discouraged workers” who have been unable to find a job, have given up looking for nonexistent jobs, and are not counted as among the unemployed as measured by the fake 5.3% rate of unemployment.

The stock market, not too far below its highs, is used as evidence of recovery. However, the stock market is supported by companies buying back their own shares and by the liquidity that the Federal Reserve has poured into the financial system. Dan Strumpet reported in the Wall Street Journal that a mere six companies account for more than all of the gain in market-capitalization in the S&P 500. How’s that? We have a recovery in which a mere six companies participate—Amazon, Google, Apple, Facebook, Gilead, and Walt Disney Company.

Sounds like a rip-roaring recovery.

In the second quarter of this year the US economy contracted by 1.4%. Second quarter durable goods orders, minus commercial aircraft orders which are placed years ahead and do not reflect the state of the present economy, are in annual decline.

Second quarter new home sales fell 7.3%. And Wall Street still hypes hope and recovery.

Mike Huckabee, one of the Republican morons running for president described the US agreement with Iran regarding Iran’s nuclear energy program as “marching the Israelis to the door of the oven.” In other words, according to Huckabee, Obama has launched the Second Holocaust.

Rand Paul, the libertarian hope, is not far behind Huckabee in his groveling before Israel

My suggestion is: let’s cut out the middleman. Let’s elect Netanyahu or the Chicago gambling king Sheldon Adelson President of the United States and be done with it.

This explanation of the Iran agreement, if correct, means that the Iranian One Percent sold out Iran in order to join forces with the One Percent in the West.

As for Bill Clinton, so for the British Lords. sex, not mass murder and war crimes, is the punishable offense.

And what do we make of this?

The other day I heard the BBC presstitute Will Grant patronizing Cuba’s newspaper Granma. The presstitute, a mouthpiece for Washington and London, was telling the Cuban journalists that now that relations were normalized with the West, Granma had to toe the Western propaganda line or remain an outcast in the journalism world. The Cuban journalists made an effort to defend their integrity, but one senses that the allure of foreign travel, conferences and awards will spell the death knell of the newspaper associated with the Cuban Revolution. Of course, the Cuban Revolution itself is finished, as the money pouring in from abroad will reconstruct Cuba and make Cuba into a profitable foreign enterprise of the corporatocracy.

Obama was recently in Ethiopia where he warned the Ethiopian government against violating the rights of journalists. If only Obama had the same sympathy for American journalists. Instead, Obama threatens American journalists with indictments if they do not rat on their whistleblower sources.

The recent bombings in Turkey.  Are the bombings a false flag operation so that Turkey can do what it wants to do anyway?

So often bombings are the work of “security” forces. The bombings are used to blame those whom the security forces wish to discredit. The Tsar’s secret police used bombings in order to arrest labor agitators.

As Operation Gladio revealed, Western intelligence services bombed women and children in Europe in order to blame communists and thus reduce their vote in elections.

False flag attacks are common throughout history. Those who expose them are labeled “conspiracy theorists” in order to protect governments’ secret agendas from exposure. The gullibility of the population ensures the government’s success.

Turkish Military Jets Leave Kurdish Village In Ruins

Erdogan's war against "ISIS"

The president of Iraq's Kurdistan region has condemned a deadly bombardment of Zargala village by the Turkish military, calling for all sides to return to the negotiating table. At least 9 people were reportedly killed in the attack.

and children
"We condemn this bombardment that led to the martyrdom of people from the Kurdistan region and call on Turkey not to bombard civilians again," Massoud Barzani said in a statement on Saturday, Reuters reported.

“The PKK must keep the battlefield away from the Kurdish region in order for civilians not to become victims of this war,”Barzani added.

On Saturday, Turkish fighter jets reportedly bombed a village located on the outskirts of Kandil Mountains, where PKK camps are based.

Local media say at least nine civilians were killed, a pregnant woman among them, while 15 others were injured.

“There were six houses in this area, and all of them have been destroyed. The people targeted here are innocent civilians. The Turkish state is targeting Kurdish villagers on the excuse of PKK guerrillas,” a local villager and a witness, Feqi Muhammed, told Firat news agency.

Erdogan cuts deal with Obama for U.S. airbases in Turkey; given green light to bomb Kurds in exchange under guise of bombing "ISIS"

The first attack on Saturday started at 4 a.m. local time, killing families, animals, destroying houses. Twitter is flooded with blood-chilling photographs from the scene, with the hashtags #BabyKillerErdogan and #ZergeleKöyündeKATLİAM gaining pace.
This week, Turkey has continually targeted the camps of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) fighters, based in northern Iraq, blaming the group for a series of killings of police officers and soldiers.

The week of air strikes has left some 260 militants deads and left hundreds of others wounded, Anatolia news agency reported on Saturday.

Later that day, the Turkish foreign ministry said in a statement that “An investigation has been initiated into the allegations,”as cited by AFP news agency, and promised that its results “will be shared with the public as soon as possible.”

“All the allegations that have been brought forward will be investigated fully,” it said, adding that the reports of civilian deaths had been received “with sorrow”.

Yet the ministry also stated that the Saturday operation had targeted solely the PKK camp and been launched based on information provided by intelligence that indicated there were no civilians in the area. It accused the PKK of using “civilians as human shields.”

On Wednesday, the Iraqi Parliament urged the Turkish government to put an end to the air strikes of the border villages that are violating the country’s "sovereignty and airspace."

"The Turkish military aircraft have inflicted serious damage to the lives and property of the Iraqi people and neighboring border villages during their bombing operations inside Iraqi territory," a statement by the Parliament said.

The attacks, launched this week, are expected to continue. They were initially set to target both Islamic State militants and PKK, but so far they have been focusing on Kurdish shelters and arms depots.

A representative of the Turkish government told AFP, "This is not a soccer game," and refused to provide the news agency with the official death toll.

The conflict between Turkey and Kurdish insurgent groups, who have been demanding an independent Kurdistan or for greater autonomy, lasts for several decades.

The main insurgent group, considered as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and NATO, PKK, was founded in 1978 and has clashed with Turkish security forces ever since.

The conflict, that took lives of tens of thousands of people, saw a ceasefire in 2013.

“Those who threaten [Turkey] will face the response,” Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told reporters, as Istanbul launched the operation during the July crisis.

The end of July saw the escalation of the conflict. It started as a dozen police and military personnel were killed in Turkey, which has pointed the finger of blame at the Kurdish militant group. Several suspected PKK members were killed in various border regions of the country, during clashes with the police.

On July 20, the Turkish town of Suruc, located on the southern border with Syria, saw a terrorist attack, performed by a suspected Islamic State suicide bomber, that took lives of at least 31 people and injured over 100 people.

Following the attack, the Kurdistan Workers’ party accused the Turkish government of “supporting and cultivating” Islamic State (formerly known as ISIS/ISIL). Its leaders said that Erdogan used Kurds as a buffer against ISIS, and the Kurds held massive demonstrations to express their discontent with the current policy.

U.S. Tries To Stir Ethnic Division In Crimea

CIA continues to incite murder and mayhem in Crimea following their aborted fascist coup in Kiev as Obama forges ahead with his never-ending efforts to spark WWIII in Ukraine

WASHINGTON'S BLOG
By Eric Zeusse
08/01/2015

On Saturday, August 1st, Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko (who now acknowledges that his government is illegitimate and that his predecessor Viktor Yanukovych was overthrown in a February 2014 coup), sent greetings to an international conference of supporters of Tatars in Crimea, at the Second World Congress of the Crimean Tatars.

Kerry with Obama puppet Poroshenko
He charged the current Crimean government (the government that Crimeans elected on 16 March 2014, rejoining Russia) of discriminating against Tatars. His message attacked the “torn imperial policies of the Kremlin,” and the “temporary occupation of Crimea by Russia.” He said that, “The Crimean Tatar people are again experiencing terror, and tens of thousands are thus forced to flee.”

He thanked America’s Sunni ally Turkey for hosting this conference of pro-Saudi, Sunni Muslim, Crimeans.

According to polls, the 12% to 15% of Crimeans who are Tatars (most of whom are Sunni Muslims, and thus oriented toward Saudi Arabia) are overwhelmingly in support of Crimea’s having severed its ties with Ukraine and of having become instead a province of Russia, as Crimea had been part of Russia for centuries until the Soviet dictator Nikita Khrushchev transferred Crimea to Ukraine in 1954.

That linked poll there was taken in January 2015, but its findings were similar to earlier ones. For example, it showed that 82% of Crimeans said that they “endorse Russia’s annexation of Crimea.” Another 11% said they “mostly endorse” it. That’s overall 93% approval. By comparison, an April 2014 Gallup poll of Crimeans showed that 82.8% said that, “The results of the referendum on Crimea’s status likely reflect the views of most people here.” Only 6.7% did not agree. So, those two polls seem to have agreed: both showed overwhelming acceptance by Crimeans of the referendum’s result: Crimea’s becoming again a part of Russia.

Tatars warn of jihadi backlash in Crimea

An earlier (pre-referendum, even pre-coup), May 2013, Gallup poll of only Crimeans, found that 15% of their sample said they were “Tatar,” and that unlike all other ethnic groups in Crimea, none of Crimea’s Tatars considered themselves to be either “Ukrainian” or “Russian,” though they all were, at that time, technically Ukrainains.

Back at that time, 68% of all Crimeans said they were “warm” toward Russia; only 5% said they were “cold” toward Russia; so, even if all of the respondents who were “cold” there were among the 15% of Crimeans who were Tatar, fully two-thirds of Crimea’s Tatars were not “cold” toward Russia.

However, by contrast, only 6% of Crimeans said that they were “warm” toward the U.S.; 24% said they were “cold” toward it.

So, at best (even if all Crimeans who are “warm” toward the U.S. are the Tatars) Crimea’s Tatars are actually as “cold” toward the U.S. as they are toward Russia. Besides the 15% of Crimeans who self-identified as being “Tatar,” there were 20% of Crimeans who self-identified as “Ukrainian,” and 59% who self-identified as “Russian.” So, that pre-coup breakdown helps to explain why the vast majority of Crimeans were “warm” toward Russia: most Crimeans, even before Crimea was restored to Russia in March 2014, already considered themselves to be “Russian.”

That May 2013 poll was taken for the International Republican [Party] Institute, and for the (Obama) U.S. State Department-run agency, USAID, in preparation for the coup (by Obama, backed strongly by congressional Republicans).

Vile CIA dupe Victoria "Fuck the EU" Nuland with new pet Poroshenko

Back in May 2013, the U.S. State Department was already a few months into organizing the overthrow of Ukraine’s democratically elected President, which coup occurred, or took place, actually, less than a year later, in February 2014. This poll was asking questions that were designed to tap into the prospects for winning the support of Crimeans, and especially of its Tatars, for the overthrow that was being planned, and for America’s intended yanking away from Russia of Russia’s centuries-long control over Russia’s Crimean naval base, which has been one of Russia’s top military assets ever since 1783.

Basically, what all three polls showed was that Crimeans were going to be appalled at the overthrow, but that Crimea’s Tatars would be more supportive of it than other Crimeans would.

And this is why America’s agent, Petro Poroshenko, is now courting Crimea’s Tatars. They may not like Ukraine, but they dislike it less than other Crimeans do.

Nazi Angela Merkel giving Poroshenko his marching orders

Poroshenko is just doing his job for his American sponsors.

U.S. President Barack Obama says that Russia’s “conquest of land” to seek “great nation status” is what caused Crimea to switch from Ukraine to Russia, and that this “conquest of land” caused Russia’s consequent punishment for “Russia’s aggression.” He says that this “aggression” is the reason for the economic sanctions against Russia.

Ukraine Nazi Prime Minister Arseniy "Yats" Yatsenyuk may find out all too soon just what it means to be "friends" with Obama and his murdering CIA

But actually, “The Anti-Crimean Pogrom that Sparked Crimea’s Breakaway” expressed the passionate hatred against Russians on the part of Ukraine’s Right Sector — the organization that the Obama Administration had, in fact, hired as the gunmen who carried out the anti-Russian coup d’etat in Ukraine next door to Russia during February 2014.

The leader of Right Sector is Dmitriy Yarosh, who aspires to destroy Russia. He’s just the type of man Obama needed to mastermind this coup and so to carry out not only Obama’s will, but his own. Yarosh also masterminded “The Anti-Crimean Pogrom that Sparked Crimea’s Breakaway,” and also was one of the key leaders and masterminds of the massacre of the coup’s opponents inside the Odessa Trade Unions Building on 2 May 2014, the event that sparked Ukraine’s civil war. Obama hires the right people for a job, and these were far-right jobs.

We have already discussed in the first part of this analysis how the American geography dooms whoever controls the territory to being a global power, but there are a number of other outcomes that shape what that power will be like. The first and most critical is the impact of that geography on the American mindset.
