Are Those Who Defy The U.S. Irrational Or Mad?

Neither; they are just not afraid of having the shit bombed out of them in the name of "bringing democracy" to their countries

If a nation must fight wars in a fashion that its politicians, soldiers and citizens can live with, then perhaps this is why those who defy U.S. hegemony are considered irrational, even mad.

Indeed, Americans were repeatedly warned that President Barack Obama was making a nuclear pact with the "mad" mullahs of Iran. For saying her sons were "just as innocent as all those who are being killed by the U.S.," the mass media declared Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's mother "irrational" and "insane." Believing the attacker of the USS Cole bombing must be suffering from brain damage, a military judge ordered the Pentagon to conduct a brain scan.

The man charged last week for plotting a suicide bomb attack against a military base in Kansas is also considered mentally ill, as was an elderly man who committed suicide in front of the nation's Capitol. But no one questioned why he was holding a sign reading: "Tax the One Percent!" No one bothered to divulge the content of his letter listing a litany of abuses committed by the State.

For the U.S., those who defy its military hubris are irrational or mad. But are they? Few can doubt how hypocritical and criminal U.S. national security issues have been. Preemptive wars and deadly military occupations killed millions while causing refugee crises. The U.S. claims the power to hold, without trial and indefinitely in military confinement, American citizens accused of terrorism. The U.S. also tortures prisoners, participates in extrajudicial killings and assassinations, denies detainees access to human rights groups, and is currently engaged in covert military operations in Libya, Egypt, Syria, Iran, Yemen, Ukraine and Venezuela. Nations like Sudan, Cuba and Iran are on a terrorist list. Yet, and from bombing a pharmaceutical plant to overthrowing a freely elected government and destroying passenger planes, the U.S. was the one that committed crimes against humanity. The U.S. continues to expand its surveillance and metadata mining policies. Incidences of police brutality and killings are mere isolated events.

In his seminal work, "Madness and Civilization," Michel Foucault argued that the Middle Ages accepted madness, irrationality, and visible deformity as a part of life. Madness was respected, even if it was also feared. But with the Enlightenment Age and Scientific Revolution, all sorts of people were deemed "undesirable" and "unfit," as without reason and subject to detention by the state.(1) Many were institutionalized, physically chained to the walls and floors. Since modern concepts of madness and irrationality were shaped during this time, mental illness became synonymous with the absence of reason. As societies grew more industrious, bureaucratic and complex, more types of behavior were considered unreasonable and irrational. But for Foucault, the new definition of mental illness and irrationality was insidious, a kind of labeling and social control. This new societal construct was a means in which rulers could deflect and justify their own outlandish and irrational behaviors while punishing the exact same behaviors carried out by dissenters, or those who defied the absolute State.

Michael J. Glennon would agree. In "National Security And Double Government," he writes how many of America's foreign policies and theatric wars appeared entirely rational at the time but yet killed people for no purpose, even "squandering the nation's political energy in a fruitless repetition of old arguments."(2) From the Bay of Pigs to Vietnam and Bush's invasion of Iraq, much the same could be said of other ill-conceived national security initiatives. The problem, therefore, is how rationality is indeed "bounded" by cognitive distortions, and the many ways that otherwise "rational" (if there really is such a thing) leaders and people behave irrationally.(3) Glennon concludes that along with underestimating the role of chance events, normal thinking people commit many other systematic and grave cognitive errors. There is the corruption of thought by emotion, the bandwagon bias, and remembering choices as being better than they actually were. There is also the skepticism towards differing opinions or contrary evidence, and the false assumption that others share similar attitudes, values and beliefs. "Not only can we be blind to the obvious," writes Glennon, "but we are also blind to our blindness."(4)

Can one add as well: We are irrational to our own irrationalities, or insane to our own insanities? Innocence, too, is bounded by cognitive distortions, as is the corruption of thoughts and emotions which guide our nuclear programs, military bases, and naval destroyers. The bandwagon bias ensures the State's perpetuity, with its impervious ideologies and institutions. One can only imagine what would happen to U.S. foreign policies and national security if the irrational and mentally ill, the insane and so-called mad mullahs, were taken serious. Does this include suicide bombers-the epitome of the rejection of Western values and the resistance of the world of Islam to the neo-colonial strategy of the U.S. and regional hegemony of Israel?(5) One can only envision how domestic policies would change if self-immolation was truly valued. Until the U.S. recognizes and confronts its own hypocritical policies and mad and irrational wars, not only will it be impossible for the U.S. to rationally live with itself but it will be extremely difficult for others to do the same.

MORE NBC SCANDAL As MSM Frauds Busted Blaming Wrong Syrian Group For Capturing Its Journalists

Engel is another fraud "journalist" and long-time CIA operative as are most NBC "correspondents;" Engel did not "misreport" - he LIED

Months after the Brian Williams’ fiasco, NBC News is again amending the details of a war story. This time a journalist who was kidnapped in Syria has uncovered new details that he was misled about the affiliations of the group who took him.

Yet another NBC fraud, liar, CIA stooge:
Richard Engel
NBC News chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel and three other crew members were detained in December 2012 while trying to move into Syria from Turkey. Five days after being caught, Engel said the crew managed to escape while being moved from one location to another. The claimed that the kidnappers were group supporting Syrian President Bashar Assad, but now the network admitted it rushed to conclusions due to "an elaborate ruse."

During the botched entry into Syria, kidnappers reportedly blindfolded the journalists and tossed them into the back of a truck.

“The kidnappers told us they were Shiite militiamen, members of the notorious Shabiha militia loyal to the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad,” Engel wrote in an NBC News statement released Wednesday evening. “They spoke in a particular accent, playing Shiite chants on their cellphones, smoking cigarettes, even serving us coffee in cups decorated with Shiite symbols. I, along with two other Arabic speaking members of our six-member team, believed they were from the Shabiha.”

But the New York Times contacted NBC News about a month ago, saying it had “uncovered information that suggested the kidnappers were not who they said they were and that the Syrian rebels who rescued us had a relationship with the kidnappers,” Engel wrote.

Engel now follows disgraced NBC fraud Brian Williams, CBS whore Lara Logan and Fox News Bill O'Reilly into the oblivion reserved for exposed corporate hacks and CIA stooges posing as legitimate journalists

“Mr. Engel and his team underwent a harrowing ordeal, and it is a common tactic for kidnappers in war zones to intentionally mislead hostages as to their identity,” the NY Times wrote of the incident.

Both NBC News and the NY Times investigated the kidnapping, interviewing those involved in the search for NBC’s team, rebel fighters and activists in Syria, Syrian exiles in the US and Turkey, a man who said he was one of the guards for the captive group, and current and former NBC News employees.

Re-reporting the story was difficult due to the evolving war in Syria, Engel said.

“We reached out to contacts inside and outside of Syria. The rise of ISIS and the deteriorating situation in Syria mean that we are no longer able to visit the part of Syria where we were taken,” he wrote. “Many of our most reliable sources have now escaped and live as refugees in neighboring Turkey. Many of those directly involved, including the leader of the group that rescued us, have since been killed. Others have gone into exile or hiding and can't be reached.”

Nonetheless, both news organizations reached the same conclusion: The kidnapped crew was taken “by a criminal gang for money and released for propaganda purposes,” Engel wrote.

The NY Times concluded that Engel’s team “was almost certainly taken by a Sunni criminal element affiliated with the Free Syrian Army, the loose alliance of rebels opposed to Mr. Assad.”

The kidnappers were from a group known as the North Idlib Falcons Brigade. They were led by two men, Azzo Qassab and Shukri Ajouj, who had a history of smuggling and other crimes. The journalists were said to have been freed by another rebel group, Ahrar al-Sham, “which had a relationship with Mr. Qassab and Mr. Ajouj,” the NY Times reported.

Engel’s release “was staged after consultation with rebel leaders when it became clear that holding them might imperil the rebel efforts to court Western support.”

NBC executives were told of the two men’s possible involvement both during and after the kidnapping, current and former NBC employees and others who helped search for the journalists told the NY Times.

The reporting mistakes unveiled by the two investigations into the group or groups that captured and released the NBC journalists were not the only problems with Engel’s story about the incident, however. Like Brian Williams before him, Engel misreported key details of the ordeal.

In a Vanity Fair article published shortly after his release, Engel said he saw one of his captors lying dead as the kidnapped journalists escaped during a firefight at a checkpoint manned by members of the Ahrar al-Sham brigade, a Syrian rebel group.

Engel admitted that he never saw the dead body in the updated account released Wednesday evening.

“Producer Aziz Akyavas climbed out of the van through the driver side door. He says he saw and stepped over a body that lay by the front wheel. I climbed out of the passenger side door,” Engel wrote. “Under the circumstances, and especially since Aziz said that he had seen and stepped over a body, I didn't doubt it and later reported it as fact.”

An NBC News spokesman told the NYT that the network would have no comment beyond the statement posted on its site. Vanity Fair told the paper it had no immediate comment.

Drones Will Hunt In Packs, As U.S. Navy Unveils LOCUST Prototype Launcher

What goes up, can and will be shot down; the proliferation of Obama's satanic machines will soon bite their creators in the ass when anti-drone technology catches up, it is only a matter of time: Creators and operators had better be ready to assume responsibility and prepared for retaliation for killings committed by these murder machines

04/16/2015

Drone technology is getting ever more deadly. The US Navy has released a video detailing LOCUST – the new tool allowing multiple drones to coordinate and swarm the enemy autonomously. It’s designed to protect large US vessels nearby.

Drone launcher
The concept was detailed by the Navy last year, which only this month allowed the Office of Naval Research (ONR) to demonstrate what LOCUST – or the Low-Cost Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Swarming Technology program – can do. They’re touting the tool as a new era in autonomous warfare.

LOCUST is essentially a system that can launch swarming UAVs to overwhelm the enemy and provide the marines and sailors operating them with a massive tactical advantage, ONR explains in the press release.

“The recent demonstrations are an important step on the way to the 2016 ship-based demonstration of 30 rapidly launched autonomous, swarming UAVs,” program manager Lee Mastroianni says.

“This level of autonomous swarming flight has never been done before… UAVs that are expendable and reconfigurable will free manned aircraft and traditional weapon systems to do more, and essentially multiply combat power at decreased risk to the warfighter,” he adds.

The program acts in several stages: first, a tube-based launcher will fire a swarm of UAVs from a ship, aircraft, or any surface, for that matter – owing to the device’s small footprint.

Once airborne, the drones share information and coordinate an offense or a defense, each drone playing its allotted part.

ONR says the technology is revolutionary in its heavy advantage over remote-controlled UAVs. But safeguards are always needed, so human personnel will be standing by to take over if necessary.

The added benefit of the new drone program, and drones in general, is their ability to save greatly on costs for the US military.

The emphasis on autonomy on the battlefield will become even greater over the next 10-15 years, according to the Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Jonathan Greenert’s outline of the strategy.

The ONR is not the first to research the field of multiple UAVs linking up to perform joint tasks.

The famous Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency or DARPA has been pursuing its Collaborative Operations in Denied Environment (CODE) program, which aims to allow a single pilot to operate multiple drones at once, as well as his own aircraft. In January, the US military openly declared preparations for new strategies that would drastically change aerial drone warfare.

The key objective of this is to move UAVs toward a ‘pack mentality,’ as the LOCUST and CODE programs show.
