Reports still coming in - shooter dead

At least one police officer and two military members were injured on Thursday morning after a shooting at a U.S. Navy recruiting building on Amnicola Highway in Chattanooga, Tennessee, according to
media reports. The officer is in stable condition, according to local reporter
Dan Kennedy.
Chattanooga police
confirmed the active shooter situation had ended before 1:30 p.m. local time. The situation is being investigated. Authorities are expected to address the media at 2 p.m.
Earlier in the morning, Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke was speaking at a news conference in Knoxville when he was interrupted about the situation. He acknowledged hearing that a police officer was injured and that the suspect "was also down."
Heavily armed police officers are guarding the emergency room entrance of Chattanooga's Erlanger Health System, where Berke and Chief of Police Fred Fletcher currently are meeting about the situation.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has activated its strike team, and two helicopters and the FBI are en route to the area, according to
local news.
Local reporter Chris Cannon
tweeted that Chattanooga State Community College and the Bradley Square Mall in nearby Cleveland are on lockdown.

Extra security was added to the governor's residence in Nashville and at the state capital.
In October 2013, there was a shooting at a Navy base in Millington, Tennessee. During the incident, two National Guard members were injured, but neither suffered from life-threatening injuries. The shooter, a National Guard recruit, was arrested.
