Pentagon Admits U.S. Troops Reported Being Exposed To Chemical Weapons In Iraq

"Pentagon denies that U.S. soldiers were exposed to chemical and biological warfare agents during the Gulf war"… "Pentagon withheld findings of chemical weapons in Iraq that caused US casualties"

11/07/2014

The Pentagon acknowledged that more than 600 American service members did alert military medical staff they had been exposed to chemical weapons while serving in Iraq. The military admits it failed to track the cases, or offer treatment to the troops.

Bush/Obama criminals lied about U.S. troop exposure
The news comes after US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel ordered an internal review of Pentagon records, which have now uncovered hundreds of troops who told the military they believed they were exposed to chemical weapons.

A spokesman for the Army surgeon general told The New York Times on Thursday that the review showed 629 people answered “yes” to the question of chemical exposure, and also filled in a block with details about the chemical agent they were exposed to.

The Army spokesman said each person would have received a medical consultation at the end of their combat tour.

THIS TIME, Hagel will be held accountable for his lies
Once the records were submitted, the military failed to take any further steps with the soldiers for more than a decade.

The Pentagon did not compile data, monitor veterans with medical complaints, or circulate warnings to other soldiers and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Despite the men and women receiving wounds in action, the soldiers were not awarded Purple Hearts – one of the oldest and most sacred military awards.

The Pentagon told the Times it has asked the Public Health Command to identify all veterans who reported a possible chemical exposure, gather their medical records, conduct interviews and carry out possible medical examinations. They have also revived a telephone line, 1-800-497-6261, for chemical weapons exposure complaints.

“It’s too little, too late,” said Jordan Zoeller, a former Army sergeant who served in a platoon that was exposed to sulfur mustard agent in 2008, to the newspaper.

“Mr. Zoeller was medically retired after developing a series of health problems, including asthma and psoriasis,” the Times reported. “He said his breathing trouble began within weeks of the chemical episode, though he is not sure its onset was related to mustard agent because the Army denied that he had been exposed and did not examine his claims.”

U.S. troops uncover old munitions in Iraq

The internal review was called following an investigative report last month by the Times into the illnesses experienced by 17 soldiers related to chemical weapons exposures to sarin and mustard gas, which occurred when handling abandoned and re-used munitions during the Iraq war. Once the story ran, another eight soldiers came forward with their stories about chemical weapon exposure.

At the time of the NYT report, the Pentagon said it will carry out medical exams and health monitoring for service members and veterans exposed to chemical weapons in Iraq.

Military brass said the information was kept classified so insurgents would not learn the whereabouts of Iraq's old munitions.

“Nuclear Tourism” in Australia : The Maralinga Venture, Relic Of Britain’s Nuclear Tests

Australia has been Britain's dumping ground for nuclear waste - and it's prisoners

GLOBAL RESEARCH
By Binoy Kampmark
11/06/2014

“I just want back my mother. I want back my land, too. Clean.” Dr. Archie Barton, member of the Tjarutja people, Maralinga, to Australian Prime Minister John Howard, The Age, May 11, 2003

The ghoulish and the ghastly always find form in the tourist venture. Human beings do get rather off on the issue of cruelty, despite prohibiting its extreme forms in legal codes and conventions. If something as horrifying as the Holocaust or Berlin Wall border guards can be the subject of necessary, museum experience, then it should come as no surprise that nuclear tourism should be equally be relevant.

Maralinga nuclear test
Maralinga, a site located in south-western South Australia, presents a very different opportunity. There are no onsite uniforms – as yet; but there are slabs and structures. It was at Maralinga that residents were affected by Britain’s nuclear program conducted in the 1950s and 1960s. In terms of its politics and secrecy, it was dirtier and more ruthless than most. In 2009, the village and surrounding sites in Maralinga were handed back to the Maralinga-Tjarutja people. But access had been restricted. Much of this was overlooked in the ceremony leading to formalised opening to Site 400.

Maralinga-Tjarutja general Manager Richard Preece saw prospects. “We’re going to set up bus tours so people can be taken around by Robin (local caretaker), who is a walking encyclopaedia of Maralinga.”[1] Well, there was still some contamination, but some of the structures “are still there and there’s a huge airstrip.”

In August 1954, the Australian Cabinet came to the conclusion that the British could establish a permanent testing ground at Maralinga. This was less colonial chin wagging than good old dictation by mother and nurse. Mother Britannia was in trouble, given her slipping down the world atomic rankings before the US and Soviet Union.

A Valiant bomber used to drop a nuclear bomb at Maralinga

The United Kingdom, having captured the atomic and hydrogen bug, was determined to pursue a program of experimentation across the Pacific and Australia. British testing staff, and residents in the area, became recipients of that benignly termed product called “fall out”, stemming from such operations as Operation Buffalo (1956) and Operation Antler (1957).

Almost 600 minor trials – a kind of window into the potential “tactical” use of nuclear weapons – were conducted for the purpose of gathering effect and yield, resulting in the contamination of the area by some 830 tons of debris filled with 24,400 grams of plutonium. The area still boasts pits filled with cobalt-60 and plutonium. All in all, some twelve atomic weapons were exploded on Australian soil, at Maralinga, Emu Field and Monte Bello Islands.

According to some participants involved in the site testing, personnel were ordered to engage the dust at ground zero soon after the blasts.

The rationale, according to the British line, was testing the effect of radiation on clothing.

All of this pointed to a thesis that has come to form the basis of various works, including Frank Walker’s Maralinga (2014).

Some 16,000 Australian personnel were exposed. Pilots of the Royal Australian Air Force were given orders to fly into the climbing radioactive clouds. Australians and British subjects had become lab rats for Queen and country.

The entire conduct of the Maralinga programs has fallen foul of various standards. On the issue of health, they rank appallingly. On the issue of law, they rank poorly – a 600 page report by J.K. Symonds, formerly of the Australian Atomic Energy Commission, suggested that the Australian government knew that British experiments in the early 1960s, and the late 1950s contravened a moratorium on nuclear tests made on October 31, 1958 at Geneva. Britain’s official historian on the subject, Lorna Arnold, cites instructions that were sent to Maralinga that “all firings involving radioactive materials must cease by midnight on October 31.”[2]

What happened was a neat, if fiendish experiment in bureaucratic cosmetics. Chief scientist Sir William Penney was pleased to inform the British Foreign Office of the plan. “We are changing the name in order to prevent the possible interpretation that they are very small nuclear explosions.” Miraculously, the experiments became “assessment tests”. By 1959, they had morphed into “the Maralinga Experimental Program”. Vicious Frankenstein had become innocuous and benevolent.

There were stages of resistance, notably to the so called Vixen B program between 1960 and 1963 which countenanced the explosion of a total nuclear weapon. The point, however, was fundamentally paternalistic: Australia, the handmaiden to British wishes, was being kept out of the loop even as it was being used as a laboratory.

In Symonds’ words, “There were curt exchanges between the UK and the Australian Governments and their authorities on whether Australia would accept that certain types of trials would take place at Maralinga” (Canberra Times, 24 Jul, 1985).

Material to the Australian on the ground proved scanty. The briefings were insufficient. In Symonds’ own words, Australian officials were “being kept too much at a distance from the real nature of the proposed tests.” Protests noted by such individuals as Professor Ernest Titterton of the Australian Weapons Tests Safety Committee were quashed. A conservative Australian Prime Minister Robert Menzies had absolutely no desire on derailing the British experiment. In 1993, Ian Anderson would claim in the Scientific American that, “Britain knew in the 1960s that radioactivity at its former nuclear test site in Australia was worse than first thought. But it did not tell the Australians.”[3]

In the 1980s, the Royal Commission into British nuclear tests into Australia, commonly termed the McClelland Royal Commission, found various instances cultural and administrative blindness on the part of participants in the projects.[4] These tended to display the ignorance of children at a neglectful parent: why did you know tell me about the birds and the bees till it was too late?

The Commission records instances of barefooted Aboriginals walking on contaminated ground and some camping in radioactive craters; instances of drifting radioactive cloud cited by alarmed officials; and the persistent presence of radioactive fragments.

It also notes the bare views of such individuals as Air Task Force Commander Air Vice-Marshal “Paddy” Menaul.

Monitoring the movements of Aboriginal residents in the area was deemed unnecessary. “They sleep most afternoons.” For officialdom, Australian aboriginals remained legal, and physical, absentees. Questioners of this narrative were whipped into line.

Such blindness would continue to the British courts, with the UK Supreme Court ruling that a class action involving 1,000 British veterans could not succeed on the basis that their claims, filed 60 years after the events, could not be linked with clear certainty to their illness.[5]

Efforts to instigate a clean-up have been deemed clumsy and ineffective. One doesn’t remove plutonium with an air brush and cheery optimism. All in all, there have been four attempts, with 100 square kilometres still deemed contaminated “above the clean-up criteria” (ABC, Nov 5). The bad habits continue. Even Preece could suggest, without even lapsing into conscious gallows humour, that tourists could still be “escorted” and receive the genuine Maralinga flavour. A truly different form of tourism, if ever there was one.

Navy SEAL Robert O’Neill Reveals Himself As Shooter Who killed Osama Bin Laden

The American public has every right to know every detail involving this operation

THE WASHINGTON POST
By Joby Warrick
11/06/2014

The Navy SEAL who fired the shot that killed Osama bin Laden is a highly decorated veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan who agonized for months over whether to publicly reveal his role in one of the most storied commando operations in U.S. history.

Robert O’Neill, 38, a Montana native, was near the head of the column of U.S. commandos who burst into bin Laden’s Pakistan hideout on May 2, 2011.

In a recent interview, O’Neill confirmed to The Washington Post that he fired the fatal shot that struck bin Laden in the forehead.

He also acknowledged that shots were fired by at least two other SEAL team members, including Matt Bissonnette, who famously described the raid in the book, “No Easy Day.”

O’Neill was preparing to make his story public next week with interviews on Fox News and in The Washington Post, but his identity was disclosed preemptively by the Web site SOFREP, operated by former SEAL members, in a protest over O’Neill’s decision to reveal his role in the mission.

Over the course of several meetings with The Post, O’Neill said he decided to go public after becoming convinced that his identity was about to be leaked by others. What once was a closely guarded secret had spread widely through military circles, he said, and was known by members of Congress and at least two news organisations.

His impending decision had also fostered anger among colleagues.

In an Oct. 31 letter to the Naval Special Warfare ranks, B.L. Losey, the commanding officer, and M.L. Magaraci, the force master chief, emphasized that a “critical” tenet of their profession is to “not advertise the nature of my work nor seek recognition for my action. “We do not abide willful or selfish disregard for our core values in return for public notoriety or financial gain,” the letter said.

O’Neill said he confirmed his decision to go public after a private encounter with relatives of victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attack on New York’s World Trade Center. During an emotional meeting with victims’ family members before the recent opening of the National September 11 Memorial Museum, the former SEAL decided spontaneously to talk about how bin Laden met his end.

“The families told me it helped bring them some closure,” said O’Neill, whose identity as the shooter was independently corroborated for The Post by two SEAL team members.

O’Neill had previously recounted his experiences to journalist Phil Bronstein for a February 2013 Esquire magazine article that, by agreement, referred to him only as “the shooter.” In the piece, he described advancing through bin Laden’s Abbottabad, Pakistan, compound with five other SEALs, eventually reaching the third floor, where bin Laden lived with his wives.

As other team members peeled off to search different rooms, O’Neill found himself in the No. 2 position, behind the point man, for the final assault on bin Laden’s bedroom. When bin Laden briefly appeared at the door, the SEAL at the front of the line fired a shot that apparently missed.

Out front:  O'Neill

“I rolled past him into the room, just inside the doorway,” O’Neill recalled. “There was bin Laden, standing there. He had his hands on a woman’s shoulders pushing her ahead.”

Though the room was dark, O’Neill could clearly see bin Laden’s features through his night-vision scope.

“In that second, I shot him, two times in the forehead,” O’Neill was quoted in the Esquire article as saying. “Bap! Bap! The second time, as he is going down. He crumbled to the floor in front of his bed and I hit him again.”

O’Neill told The Post that it was clear bin Laden had died instantly, as his skull had been split by the first bullet.

At the time of the raid, O’Neill had served nearly 15 years as a SEAL, eventually earning a spot in the elite unit known as SEAL Team 6. He served in other celebrated missions, including the 2009 rescue of merchant marine Capt. Richard Phillips from pirates off the coast of Somalia, as depicted in the 2013 movie “Captain Phillips.”

While other missions were likely more dangerous, the bin Laden raid was the first in which he believed he would likely be killed, O’Neill told The Post. The SEALs assumed that bin Laden’s compound would be both heavily guarded and booby-trapped to ward off attacks.

“I didn’t think I would survive,” he said.

Media Agrees “Not To Report” On Suspected Ebola Cases In U.S.

Ebola threat not over; "MSM" after panicking Americans now clams up as pharmacologist reveals how press has bowed to government demand to keep Americans in the dark

NWO REPORT
11/06/2014

An eyebrow-raising admission at the end of a Forbes article written by pharmacologist David Kroll reveals that the media has agreed not to report on suspected Ebola cases in the United States.

In a piece entitled Liberian Traveler At Duke Hospital Shows Preliminary Negative Result For Ebola, Kroll describes attending a press conference involving Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Aldona Wos.

After revealing that “an unnamed official abruptly called the press conference to a close” when Wos was asked a difficult question about the suspected Ebola victim, Kroll then drops a bombshell. “The Associated Press and other press outlets have agreed not to report on suspected cases of Ebola in the United States until a positive viral RNA test is completed,” he writes.

Kroll then felt the need to justify why he was talking about the suspected Ebola case at Duke Hospital, which subsequently turned out to be negative, explaining that he was, “covering tonight’s announcement of a potential Ebola case because it has been reported in my area, and at Duke University Medical Center, an institution where I hold an unpaid adjunct associate professor appointment in their Department of Medicine.”

CDC continues to lie, obfuscate Ebola threat
The agreement between major media outlets and health authorities – presumably the CDC – not to report on potential Ebola cases in the United States was apparently made behind the scenes with no public discussion whatsoever.

This is sure to heighten criticism of the CDC’s handling of the Ebola outbreak in the U.S., which is already under close scrutiny.

While the CDC will almost certainly claim that such an arrangement is necessary to prevent hysteria, many will see this as another example of how the mainstream press is more interested in acquiescing to government demands than keeping the American people informed.

"Mainstream media" whores now downplaying Ebola threat as it begins to hit the bottom lines of their corporate masters and government controllers

In an interview on the Alex Jones Show last month, Doctor James Lawrenzi revealed that health authorities are covering up potential Ebola cases in the United States and disappearing patients in an effort to avoid hysteria.

With flu season fast approaching, experts have warned that the reporting of Ebola-like symptoms which are in fact influenza could overwhelm health authorities. Medical professionals have predicted that the U.S. could see over one hundred Ebola cases by the end of the year.

Last week we reported on how the government had sent 250,000 Hazmat suits to Dallas, while the CDC is also set to purchase over 1.4 million surgical gowns and nearly 10,000 body bags in response to the outbreak.
