90 Year Old U.S. WWII Veteran Vows To Defy Arrest For Feeding Homeless

Coward Ft. Lauderdale cops disgrace their uniforms, families, city with disgusting spectacle that sickens decent, moral Americans; Ft. Lauderdale police fighting real crime as they fearlessly take on, take down vicious, 90 year old WWII combat Veteran

A 90-year-old war veteran says he will continue breaking the law by feeding homeless in public places in the city of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was arrested earlier for defying a city ordinance that restricts such charity to protect local businesses.

Cops arrest deadly spatula-weilding combat Vet
Arnold Abbot has been feeding homeless people in the streets of Fort Lauderdale for some 23 years, and says he will not stop, despite the city council making it a citable offence, carrying a punishment of 60 days in jail and a $500 fine.

“I am not afraid at all. I was a combat infantryman for 2 1/2 years. I’ve spent 50 years fighting for civil rights for the minorities in this country. I don’t have the slightest fear of being arrested,” he told RT. “The only thing I am concerned about is that there would be nobody to feed the homeless outdoors, which is what I do – and what I intend to do as long as there is breath in my body.”

Abbot and two fellow anti-poverty activists, church ministers Dwayne Black and Mark Sims, were arrested over the weekend, after the controversial no-feeding law came into force last week.

They were not taken into custody, however, and the case is yet to be heard by a judge, but on Wednesday they repeated the same “offense” of feeding homeless publicly. This time the act of civil disobedience was not interrupted by law enforcement, possibly because the conflict drew nationwide attention.

Ft. Lauderdale denies homeless women and children food
Abbot is one of many activists resisting what appears as a spreading trend in US cities to crackdown on homeless people. He says continuing his work is a matter of being true to his faith. “I believe that I am my brother’s keeper. The name of our organization is ‘Love Thy Neighbor,’ and that’s what we do. We try to spread love, to help our fellow men,” he told RT.

“We have 10,000 homeless in Broward County, which is the county of which Fort Lauderdale is the principal city. Most of them are in Fort Lauderdale, and we want to take care of all of our people. We are all God’s children.”

But Mayor Jack Seiler says he has to take care of Fort Lauderdale business owners and residents. A major tourist destination, the city’s economy depends on being attractive, and the city authorities say having homeless people visible on the streets doesn’t help that.

Ft. Lauderdale has a disproportionate number of Veteran and elderly homeless who have fallen through the social net

“The parks have just been overrun and were inaccessible to locals and businesses,'' Seiler told RT.

The restriction of public feeding in the city’s burgeoning downtown requires organizers to place a feeding zone at least 500 feet from residential property and to seek permission from owners of nearby buildings. It’s the fourth ordinance aimed at curbing the presence of homeless people issued by the city in quick succession.

Arnold Abbot provides the homeless with life-saving healthy food prepared under sanitary conditions

The mayor insists that charities have plenty of breathing space to continue their work under the new rules. Feeding can be organized indoors, for example in churches.

Abbot says charities will seek to overturn the new law in court the way they did 15 years ago, when the city sought to impose similar restrictions.

Ft. Lauderdale cops can't be bothered with murders, rapes and robberies now as they are overwhelmed and outgunned by the nine-foot tall, bullet proof WWII combat Veteran and supporters that feed the homeless

“We were stopped from feeding on the beach by the city of Fort Lauderdale and we took them to court. We sued them and we beat them. We beat them three times in a circuit court and they took us to the court of appeals in Palm Beach and we beat them twice there,” Abbot said.

Tense Standoff Between Million Mask March Protesters And Police In London

The pot boils over as the rich become too rich and the poor too poor and oppressed - "elites" beware

Protesters and police engaged in a tense and prolonged stand-off outside London’s Buckingham Palace as metal barriers cordoning off the area were removed and protesters incited police to fight.

“Move back now,” police yelled. “Piggy piggy piggy, fight fight fight,” protesters shouted at police.

Jostling with the metal barriers segregating police from protesters took place, with some being lifted off the floor and hurled at the law enforcement officials.

As they were felled, some of the protesters sat down in front of the policemen, seeming to act as a replacement barrier of sorts from more violent demonstrators while still retaining masks.

Some protesters sent fireworks over the crowd in direct contravention of a Met police directive for people not to use pyrotechnics at the march.

Protesters then moved towards Piccadilly Circus before turning onto Regents Street, and kept marching through the central London streets.

Protesters then reached BBC HQ shouting "BBC, shame on you" at the entrance.

A small group of protesters also descended on a local McDonalds on Oxford Road, chanting ‘Meat is murder!’ at people inside. The group was held back by heavy police presence.

It's still unknown how many demonstrators joined the march, in 2013 the event gathered crowds of more than 2,500 and the Facebook event suggests over 6,000 people are in attendence this year.

The Million Mask March is sweeping the globe Wednesday as demonstrators protest against austerity, mass surveillance and oppression in more than 400 cities around the world. The "Million Mask March" called for by Anonymous is famed for featuring demonstrators wearing Guy Fawkes masks, adopted by the collective from the V for Vendetta novel.

Ft. Lauderdale Mayor Responds To 5th Estate Report on Homeless

Mayor John P. "Jack" Seiler's response to our published report on feeding the homeless in Ft. Lauderdale

THE 5TH ESTATE
By Mayor John P. Seiler
11/06/2014

I appreciate the opportunity to clarify much of the misinformation that has been prevalent in the media recently regarding the homeless.

Ft. Lauderdale Mayor John P. "Jack" Seiler
Contrary to reports, the City is not banning groups from feeding the homeless. We have established an outdoor food distribution ordinance to ensure the health, safety and welfare of our community. The ordinance does not prohibit feeding the homeless; it regulates the activity in order to ensure it is carried out in an appropriate, organized, clean and healthy manner.

At a recent outdoor food distribution, citations were rightly issued for non-compliance with the process enacted to ensure public health and safety. Contrary to what was reported in the media, no one was taken into custody.

Experts agree that homeless individuals need more than just food. The homeless need shelter, clothing, and comprehensive medical and social services in order to help them get back on their feet.

To set the record straight, few cities have done more for the homeless than Fort Lauderdale. We are taking a comprehensive approach by working with numerous agencies, non-profit, charitable and faith-based organizations that, like us, are dedicated to effectively addressing this complex and important issue. Our overarching goal is to provide a long-term comprehensive solution for the homeless population. While aiming for that goal, we are concurrently working to protect public safety and maintain quality of life for our neighbors, businesses and visitors.

Our efforts include:

Fort Lauderdale was the first City in South Florida to establish a dedicated Homeless Assistance Unit as part of its Police Department. This Unit makes approximately 8,000 referrals a year working with the homeless to provide them with access to housing, critical medical care and social services. The award-winning initiative stands as a model that has been replicated by local, state, and national police departments and law enforcement agencies across the country;

Fort Lauderdale is home to the only full service comprehensive Homeless Assistance Center in Broward County. The Center has been operating here since 1999. Last June, the Fort Lauderdale City Commission unanimously passed an ordinance allowing the Homeless Assistance Center to expand its size and scope of operations to accommodate more beds and serve more homeless;

The City maintains an active partnership with Mission United, an organization dedicated to providing housing and social services to homeless Veterans;

In addition to Mission United, the City maintains partnerships, provides resources and support to Broward County, the Broward Partnership for Homeless, Housing Authority of the City of Fort Lauderdale, Salvation Army of Broward County, United Way of Broward County, Hope South Florida, and the Task Force for Ending Homelessness. These partnerships represent an outstanding example of how homelessness needs to be addressed – by bringing together a variety of agencies and organizations to collaborate, share resources, and leverage strengths in a unified effort to comprehensively impact homelessness through the coordination and delivery of essential programs and services;

Fort Lauderdale is the only city in South Florida and one of 235 communities in the United States taking part in the 100,000 Homes Campaign, a national effort to move disabled, chronically homeless people from the street to a place of their own. Using the motto "Housing First," the campaign reverses the traditional approach that required the homeless to go through addiction counseling and job training before earning a roof over their heads;

Through the Housing First program, Fort Lauderdale is providing the most vulnerable homeless individuals with housing, medical, and social services. The program is funded by a $441,000 federal grant that the City of Fort Lauderdale secured from HUD. It is currently providing permanent supportive housing for 22 chronically homeless people;

The City is proud to report that our initiative was recently re-funded by HUD. During the current year, we will have an additional $455,000 to continue to operate and expand this effort to serve even more chronic and vulnerable homeless in our City.

As part of our comprehensive strategy, the City has passed new ordinances that aim to reduce the public safety hazards and inappropriate nuisance activities that are negatively impacting our community. As a City, we have a responsibility to ensure that all of our public spaces are accessible and can be safely enjoyed by everyone – families, children, residents and visitors.

Our quality of life in Fort Lauderdale and our economic viability are directly linked to our stewardship of public spaces. The City continues to provide leadership in the implementation of innovative ideas to protect our quality of life while ensuring continued funding for programs and initiatives that address humanitarian needs.

The City, our neighbors, and our businesses have a long and distinguished history of compassion toward those in need.

If you would like to make a contribution to local non-profit agencies that help fund homeless assistance, substance abuse, and community support services in Fort Lauderdale, please visit our website: www.fortlauderdale.gov/give

Again, thank you for your interest in this important humanitarian issue.

Noam Chomsky Slams U.S. For Being the Greatest Terrorist State That Has Fostered Violence and Aggression

U.S. expatriates, military, Veterans, military families worldwide are now targets thanks to Obama and his murdering CIA

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS TIMES AU
By Revathi Siva Kumar
11/05/2014

There is a new barb aimed at the United States by the erstwhile longtime MIT professor, critic, historian and social philosopher Noam Chomsky in a new op-ed. He calls the U.S. the "world's leading terrorist state," due to its dangerous CIA-run operations in countries such as Nicaragua and Cuba, according to RT News.

In TruthOut, Chomsky described the Central Intelligence Agency's classified review of its attempts to arm insurgencies across the world in its 67-year history. RT News reported that the CIA conducted the "effectiveness analyses" but the Obama government armed rebels fighting President Bashar Assad's Syrian forces.

When The New York Times revealed the facts, Chomsky said that the headline should have been as it was written in The Times: "It's official: The U.S. is the world's leading terrorist state, and proud of it," instead of "CIA Study of Covert Aid Fueled Skepticism About Helping Syrian Rebels."

Calling the U.S. "the world champion in generating terror," he showed how it was bent on strengthening antagonism. He said that the first paragraph of the Times article spells out the three cities in which 'covert aid' had been given: Angola, Nicaragua and Cuba. They were all examples of major terrorist operations, he said.

"The question is, what can we do to make the right ones prevail?" he asks in an interview with David Barsamian atchomsky.info. Pointing out that the U.S. is the only country that has been condemned for international terrorism by the World Court, it refused to comply with a Security Council resolution calling on states to observe international law.

He added that in the 1980s, the U.S. supported Apartheid in South Africa even as it invaded Angola to defend itself from Nelson Mandela's African National Congress, which it called one of the world's "more notorious terrorist groups." However, Washington just combined with South Africa in order to give support for Jonas Savimbi's terrorist Unita army in Angola, said Chomsky.

A 1989 U.N. inquiry realized that South Africa had caused 1.5 million deaths in nearby countries, apart from its own country.

Chomsky also referred to the decades-long "murderous and destructive campaign" that the US has directed at Cuba, including the failed Bay of Pigs invasion and a long-standing embargo even today.

On Oct. 28, the UN, for the 23rd time, endorsed 'the necessity of ending the economic, commercial, financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba,'" he wrote.

He also referred to the "dirty wars" the U.S. waged in Central America in the 1980s and current opposition in Syria and Iraq against Islamic State, a jihadist group, like others, which were fuelled by American interventions in the Middle East, he wrote. Currently, President Barack Obama's unmanned drones are circling the skies over Pakistanand Yemen.

This was just an extension of the terrorist generation that had happened earlier. Obama's global project of eliminating "terrorists" and the 'resentment-generating impact' would only perpetuate terrorism. "This is a record to be contemplated with some awe," he concludes.

Oklahoma Cop Faces 32 Charges Of Sex Crimes Committed On Duty

Bolstered by free military gear and weapons they do not know how to use moronic, feral cops rampage across America believing themselves omnipotent, unaccountable

110/5/2014

An Oklahoma City police officer has been charged with six more counts of sexual offenses while on duty after three more victims, including a teenager, told authorities he forced them to have sex with him.

Busted:  Scumbag cop Daniel Holtzclaw
Before the latest accusations, Daniel Ken Holtzclaw, 32, had already been charged with 26 counts, including rape, sexual battery, oral sodomy, indecent exposure, stalking, and burglary.

The new counts against Holtzclaw, a three-year police veteran, were filed in Oklahoma County District Court on Tuesday.

The latest charges include three counts of first-degree rape, as well as one count each of second-degree rape by instrumentation, forcible oral sodomy, and sexual battery, according to the Oklahoman.

The charges involve the assault of 13 women in total.

The three women involved in the new charges came forward after seeing Holtzclaw in the news for the previous alleged sexual offenses, according to an affidavit.

A 17-year-old woman told police she was walking with friends on June 17 when Holtzclaw approached the group.

The officer told her there was a warrant out for her arrest, though he let her go, according to the probable cause affidavit. He later stopped her when she was alone and took her to her home, where he eventually forced her to give him oral sex and have intercourse with him.

Two other women alleged that Holtzclaw forced them to have sex with him before he would let them go, according to the affidavit.

“You are going to give me some sex…or you’re ass is going to jail," he allegedly told one of the victims,according to court records cited by KWTV.

“This is what you are going to have to do. I don’t want to take you to jail,” Holtzclaw allegedly told another victim.

Holtzclaw’s attorney maintained the officer’s innocence.

“Daniel denies that he’s done anything wrong and looks forward to his day in court,” said defense attorney Scott Adams, according to the Oklahoman. “He’s ready to get back to work at the police department.”

According to Oklahoma City police, some of the crimes Holtzclaw is accused of committing occurred during traffic stops. Holtzclaw, according to court filings, threatened women with arrest or physical harm if they did not comply with is demands.

Holtzclaw, fitted with a GPS monitoring device on his ankle, is under house arrest on $609,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 18.
