BREAKING - Ukraine : 18 Dead As Protesters And Police Clash On Worst Day Of Kiev Bloodshed

Situation in Kiev continues to deteriorate; CIA inciting coup with assist from Al Jazeera, CNN, FOX News

02/19/2014

At least 11 protesters and seven police officers reported dead as riot police move in to clear Independence Square.

Three months of confrontation in Ukraine between the president and a large protest movement reached its peak on Tuesday night in the worst bloodshed since the country separated from Moscow more than two decades ago, with 18 people reported killed as riot police moved in to clear Kiev's Independence Square, the crucible of the anti-government activism.

Hopes for a settlement of the crisis went up in smoke amid scenes of rioting, burning buildings, police bombings and rubber bullets that also left up to 500 people injured.

A large section of the protest camp in the capital, Kiev, was engulfed in flames on Tuesday night as police advanced on the demonstrators using water cannons and stun grenades.

The security services had earlier issued a warning, ordering tens of thousands of protesters to get off the streets by Tuesday evening or face a crackdown.

The violence, the worst since a government-opposition confrontation erupted last November, came after President Viktor Yanukovych, the main target of the protests, stalled on outlines of an agreement to appoint a new technocratic coalition government or have his powers cut back.

Opposition organisers said 11 civilians had been killed and hundreds more injured, many seriously. The authorities said seven police officers were killed and 39 officers had sustained gunshot wounds.

Columns of riot police sought to banish crowds of protesters from encroaching on the country's parliament, while demonstrators ransacked offices of Yanukovych's political party.

"Extremists are killing innocents on the streets of the capital, burning buildings and cars," the statement from the security services said.

"Unless the disorder stops, we will have to restore order by all means envisaged by law."

The White House asked Yanukovych to "exercise maximum restraint". But video footage from Kiev showed heavily armed riot police firing Kalashnikovs. Both police and opposition leaders called on women and children to leave the protest camp in Independence Square, known as the Maidan, as riot police began their assault.

Vitali Klitschko, an opposition leader and former world heavyweight boxing champion, said: "The government has deliberately organised a provocation to clear Independence Square with blood and violence and to destroy the protests and the activists."

There were reports that riot police were firing smoke and stun grenades. Opposition sources said police snipers were firing on demonstrators from rooftops. According to reports, security services began moving in at 8pm local time after announcing over loudspeakers that they were about to conduct "an anti-terror operation".

The foreign ministries of Ukraine and Russia earlier issued what appeared to be co-ordinated statements blaming Europe for fomenting the unrest. It appeared that the Kremlin had a hand in the political machinations behind the eruption and the crackdown. As well as blaming Europe for the rioting, it offered $2bn (£1.2m) to Yanukovych and sought to influence the appointment of the new prime minister.

Foul-mouthed Victoria Nuland incited protesters to riot
"The violent clashes today have to date resulted in deaths by bullets and hundreds of injuries, including seven people in a critical position," said protesters in a statement.

"Snipers posted on roofs are targeting the heads and chests of protesters. Ambulances blocked by security forces are not able to provide first aid to the injured," it continued.

Protesters, some of them armed with air pistols and petrol bombs, hurled bricks and paving stones at ranks of riot police, who used rubber bullets, smoke and stun grenades. Many of the injuries were said to have been head wounds from being struck by grenades.

The EU's foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, said she was "deeply worried about the grave new escalation". UN secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, called for restraint and dialogue, while Washington said it was appalled by the violence and demanded that Yanukovych must "de-escalate the situation". Nato's secretary-general, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, urged "all parties to refrain from violence and to urgently resume dialogue, including through the parliamentary process".

While chaos and bloodshed reigned on the streets of central Kiev, there were also scenes of mayhem inside parliament, where opposition leaders sought to inaugurate moves curbing the powers of the president and making Ukraine more of a parliamentary than a presidential system.

Obama propaganda pimp Carney encourages Klitschko
The opposition tried to table a resolution returning the country to its 2004 constitution, which would have given parliament the authority to appoint a new prime minister and cabinet and strip Yanukovych of many of his powers.

The president's allies in parliament simply blocked the move, refusing to have the resolution registered.

Yanukovych orchestrated changes to the 2004 constitution after taking power in 2010 and vesting most powers in his own office.

Earlier, several thousand nationalists led by the Svoboda [freedom] party converged on a park near the parliament and tried to move on the legislature, only to be blocked by riot police who also closed down the city centre metro system.

The flare-up and apparent readiness for a draconian crackdown followed several days of signs that the crisis was ebbing and compromises were being reached.

Protesters evacuated several buildings they had been occupying for months, including Kiev city hall, which was set ablaze.

In recent days authorities have released more than 240 people detained during the unrest under an amnesty.

Yanukovych is to meet a trio of opposition leaders on Wednesday and is expected to propose a new prime minister.

Last November confrontation was sparked when Yanukovych abruptly ditched years of negotiations with the EU on a political and free trade pact, turning instead to Moscow for $15bn-worth of cheap loans and discounted gas supplies.

Moscow promptly responded by buying $3bn-worth of Ukrainian bonds, but then stopped lending last month when Yanukovych sacrificed his pro-Kremlin prime minister, Mykola Azarov.

The offer on Tuesday of a new $2bn loan was seen as tied to Yanukovych making the "right" choice for new prime minister.

The swiftness of the Russian moves in seeking to outwit the EU in what rapidly snowballed into a contest for influence in Ukraine has exposed the lumbering nature of European diplomacy and policy-making in a crisis in a neighbouring state.

The opposition leaders and protesters are seeking to unseat Yanukovych and force early presidential elections.

Vitali Klitschko told parliament Yanukovych should "call snap presidential and parliamentary elections. Do it. It's the only way to solve the issue."

Destabilizing Venezuela : Washington V. Chavismo

Maduro correct, prudent in ejecting CIA spies

GLOBAL RESEARCH
By Stephen Lendman
04;18/2014

Destabilizing Venezuela is longstanding US policy. Chavez denounced it many times. President Nicolas Maduro does now.

Nicolas Maduro
After his April 2013 election, he accused opposition candidate Henrique Capriles of coup plotting against him.

“Preparations are under way for an attempt to de-recognize democratic institutions,” he said.

Dark forces never quit. Washington prioritizes regime change. Venezuela is a prime target.

At the time, Maduro accused US embassy officials of plotting “acts of violence.” He expelled two Obama military attaches.

He accused another embassy employee of plotting sabotage against Venezuela’s electrical grid.

“I will use a hard hand against fascism and intolerance,” he said. “I declare it. If they want to overthrow me, come and get me.”

He asked Venezuelans to “(d)ecide who you are with…the country and peace and the people (or) fascism.”

Destabilization continues. Obama wants regime change. On Sunday, Maduro addressed thousands of supporters.

He accused fascist elements of coup plotting. He called on Venezuelans to “combat in the streets with ideas, with values, in high quality debate, with respect for people’s rights, without violence.”

Roy Chaderton is Venezuelan Organization of American States (OAS) ambassador. He sent Maduro a report listing US demands. They include:

dialoguing with opposition leaders;

releasing detainees arrested during violent protests; and

threatening that “the arrest of (fascist Popular Will party head) Mr. Leopoldo Lopez could cause negative consequences in their international ramifications.”

"Mainstream media" shills for White House murderers
Obama demands no legal action against him. Maduro called his demands “unacceptable and insolent…I don’t accept threats from anybody,” he said.

“They will be hard to stop us,” he stressed. (W)e are willing to go to the end in defense of peace and democracy.”

On Monday, he called other Latin American presidents. He urged them to denounce US threats. He asked Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) Secretary General Ali Rodriguez for support.

He told Foreign Minister Elias Jaua to declare three US embassy officials persona non grata. He ordered them expelled.

He accused them of involvement in destabilizing Venezuela. They weren’t identified by name.

A Foreign Ministry statement said Washington seeks to “promote and legitimize the attempts to destabilize the Venezuelan democracy that have sparked violent groups in last days.”

“…Venezuela strongly rejects the statements of…John Kerry…”

“…Obama lies when he…question(s) the validity of human rights and democratic guarantees in our country.”

First Iraq, Syria and Egypt, AJ now throws gas on Kiev
Bolivarian institutions guarantee “the exercise of political rights to all its citizens, in a framework of broad civic freedoms enshrined constitutionally.”

“The US government is lying when it denounces the detention of (so-called) peaceful anti-government protesters.”

“Venezuela has acted and will continue to (confront) violent actions by small groups of extreme (hardliners) conspiring against the liberties (and threatening) the life of our fellow citizens…” Both countries have no ambassadorial relations. Last September, Maduro expelled Washington’s charge d’affaires and two other embassy officials.

“…John Kerry…defends violent leader Leopoldo Lopez…(S)ufficient evidence” shows his involvement in anti-government street rioting.

“The people and the Venezuelan government…will continue imperturbably exercising all (legal) actions…necessary to…defeat” Washington’s anti-Bolivarian agenda.

“We call (on all independent) governments…and peoples of the world against this serious US intervention.”

Ever thicker: Obama's CIA smoke circles the globe
US/Venezuelan relations have been strained since Chavez took office in February 1999. They remain so now.

Venezuela is infested with US coup plotters. CIA operatives have been involved for years.

Corporate funded right-wing think tanks want Venezuela returned to its bad old days. They go all-out to vilify Bolivarian fairness.

Lies substitute for truth.

Heritage Foundation (HF) misinformation claims Venezuelan “economic and political freedom is nonexistent.” Maduro is vilified for relations with China, Cuba, Russia and Iran.

Venezuela is a model of democratic fairness. Media freedom is the hemisphere’s best. Not according to HF.

It lied claiming Maduro “persecutes political adversaries and critics.”

“Restrictions on media freedom undermine the opposition,” it added.

Doomsayers claim Venezuela’s economy is troubled. Economist Mark Weisbrot calls pre-Chavez years “economic(ally) disast(rous).”

From 1980 – 1998, per capital income fell. Chavez turned disaster into success. Predictions of economic collapse deny reality.

Venezuela isn’t Greece. Its “long awaited apocalypse” isn’t likely, said Weisbrot. Around $100 billion in oil revenue avoids balance of payments problems.

About $40 billion of reserves adds stability. Bank of America calls Venezuelan bonds a good buy. Possible hyperinflation is remote.

Despite challenging problems, Venezuela’s economy is far from troubled. Growth was positive for 13 straight quarters.

Jobs are available for most Venezuelans who want them. Chavez cut poverty from 60% to 26%. Extreme poverty decreased from over 16% to 7%.

Venezuelans have Latin America’s highest minimum wage. According to Weisbrot, “Venezuela has sufficient reserves and foreign exchange earnings to do whatever it wants to do.”

Over-dependence on oil can be overcome in time. So can other longterm structural problems.

Overcoming Washington’s regime change agenda is most challenging. Right-wing think tanks support it.

Harold Trinkunas heads Brookings’ Latin America Initiative in the Foreign Policy program.

He formerly chaired the Department of National Security Affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School.

On January 23, he headlined ”Venezuela Breaks Down in Violence.” It was a memo to Obama. It’s a thinly veiled call for regime change. He urged US intervention.

He claimed “economic mismanagement.” On the one hand, he said it “reached such a level that it risks a violent popular reaction.”

Later in his memo he called the “risk of a violent outcome low.”

“(I)t is in the US interest that Venezuela remain a reliable source of oil,” he said.

“Popular unrest in a country with multiple armed actors, including the military, the militia, organized crime and pro-government gangs, is a recipe for unwelcome chaos and risks an interruption of oil production,” he added.

He urged Obama to enlist help from Brazil. It’s interests are at risk, he claimed. He recommended efforts made “to convince (Maduro) to shift course.”

If crisis conditions erupt, he wants Maduro ousted. He couched his language as follows:

Begin “quiet conversations” with other regional countries. Plan “steps to take should Venezuela experience a violent breakdown of political order.”

Washington “would need to work with key states in the region – Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Peru and Colombia – on a regional consensus in favor of rebuilding ‘democracy’ in Venezuela.”

The kind Trinkunas favors is none at all. He wants Obama enlisting help from regional allies. He wants Venezuela returned to its bad old days.

“(S)hould violence erupt,” he wants Obama “to prepare a concerted regional response that leads to Venezuela’s re-democratization.”

In other words, he wants regime change. He wants pro-Western puppet leadership replacing Maduro. He favors coup d’etat.

He wants a repeat of April 2002. He wants it working this time. Why he expects above named countries to help, he’ll have to explain.

Fearing Venezuela collapsing into violence doesn’t square with reality. Trouble makers are relatively few. Chavistas way outnumber them.

Venezuelan democracy is the world’s best. So is Bolivarian fairness. Not according to Trinkunas. He calls the political playing field “hardly level.”

Maduro “undermined democratic institutions” he claimed. He “centralized power in the executive branch…”

He “prevent(s) other branches of government, opposition parties or civil society from influencing policy.”

“There are no checks on the executive when it uses state resources to win elections and selectively applies the law to intimidate opponents.”

He “foreclosed peaceful options.” He’s “interventionist and increasingly authoritarian.”

He “put the armed forces on the street to enforce his economic decrees…” He fosters “popular discontent.”

His memo reads like straight State Department propaganda. Fiction substituted for facts. Misinformation drowned out truth.

He supports regime change. So does Obama. Not if Venezuelans have their say. They did before. Expect no less this time if necessary.

U.S., EU Paying Ukrainian Rioters, Protesters

U.S., EU taxpayers financing mayhem, death and civil war in Kiev, Venezuela as CIA cancer spreads further

PRESS TV
02/17/2014

A number of confirmations have come in from readers that Washington is fueling the violent protests in Ukraine with our taxpayer dollars. Washington has no money for food stamps or to prevent home foreclosures, but it has plenty of money with which to subvert Ukraine.

U.S., EU taxpayers paid for this mayhem
One reader wrote: “My wife, who is of Ukrainian nationality, has weekly contact to her parents and friends in Zhytomyr [NW Ukraine]. According to them, most protesters get an average payment of 200-300 grivna, corresponding to about 15-25 euro.

As I additionally heard, one of the most active agencies and ‘payment outlets’ on EU side is the German ‘Konrad Adenauer Stiftung’, being closely connected to the CDU, i.e. Mrs. Merkel’s party.”

As I reported on February 12, “Washington Orchestrated Protests Are Destabilizing Ukraine,” Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, a rabid Russophobe and neoconservative warmonger, told the National Press Club last December that the US has “invested” $5 billion in organizing a network to achieve US goals in Ukraine in order to give “Ukraine the future it deserves.” Nuland is the Obama regime official who was caught red-handed naming the members of the Ukrainian government Washington intends to impose on the Ukrainian people once the paid protesters have unseated the current elected and independent government.

What Nuland means by Ukraine’s future under EU overlordship is for Ukraine to be looted like Latvia and Greece and to be used by Washington as a staging ground for US missile bases against Russia.

Obama, CIA responsible for all deaths, Kiev terrorism
From the responses I received to my request for confirmations of the information sent to me from Moldova, there is enough evidence that Washington fomented the violent riots for western newspapers and TV channels to investigate. But they haven’t. As we know, the “presstitutes” are enablers of Washington’s crimes and duplicities.

However, the US media has reported that the Ukrainian government is paying Ukrainians to rally in favor of the government.

As Karl Marx wrote, money turns everything into a commodity that is bought and sold. I wouldn’t be surprised if some protesters are working both sides of the street.

Of course, not all of the protesters are paid. There are plenty of “gullible dupes” in the streets who think they are protesting Ukraine government corruption. I have heard from several. There is little doubt that the Ukraine government is “corrupt.” What government isn’t? Government corruption is “universal,” but it is easy to go from the frying pan into the fire. Ukrainian protesters seem to think that they can escape corruption by joining the EU. Obviously, these “gullible dupes” are unfamiliar with the report on EU corruption issued February 3 by the EU Commissioner for Home Affairs. The report says that a business-political nexus of corruption affects all 28 EU member countries and costs the EU economies $162.2 billion per annum. Clearly, Ukrainians will not escape corruption by joining the EU. Indeed, the corruption will be worse.

I have no objection to Ukrainians protesting government corruption. Indeed, such “gullible people” could benefit from the lesson they would learn once their country is in the hands of “corrupt” Brussels and Washington. What I object to is the lack of awareness on the part of the protesters that by permitting themselves to be manipulated by Washington, they are pushing the world toward a dangerous war. I would be surprised if Russia is content to have US military and missile bases in Ukraine.

It was "fools" like Nuland playing the great game that gave us World War I. World War III would be the last war. Washington’s drive to exploit every opportunity to establish its hegemony over the world is driving us all to nuclear war. Like Nuland, a significant percentage of the population of western Ukraine are “Russophobes.” I know the case for Ukrainian dislike of Russia, but Ukrainian emotions fueled with Washington’s money should not direct the course of history. No historians will be left to document how “gullible and witless” Ukrainians set the world up for destruction.

Indonesian Minister Says Reports Of Australia Spying Are 'Mind-Boggling'

Indonesian Foreign Minister retains trademark diplomatic cool in the face of ASIS/NSA/CIA spying; "MSM" attempts to cover newest spy scandal with bogus "climate change" coverage

THE GUARDIAN
02/17/2014

Indonesian foreign minister Marty Natalegawa said on Monday that reports of Australian spies targeting Indonesian officials during a trade dispute with the United States were “mind-boggling”.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa
Indonesia has been embroiled in trade disputes with the US over its exports of clove cigarettes and shrimp in recent years, and has lashed out at Canberra over previous allegations that it spied on the Indonesian president and other top officials.

“I find that a bit mind-boggling and a bit difficult how I can connect or reconcile discussion about shrimps and how it impacts on Australia’s security,” Natalegawa told reporters, referring to claims made in a weekend report by the New York Times.

The report said Australia offered intelligence to the US National Security Agency (NSA) to give Washington leverage during a trade dispute with Jakarta.

Natalegawa’s comments came during a joint press conference with US secretary of state John Kerry, who responded to questions about the report, saying: “We take this issue very seriously, which is why President Obama laid down a series of concrete and substantial reforms.”

President Yudhoyono bitten again by ASIS/NSA spying
The report, based on leaked documents by former NSA analyst Edward Snowden, said that the Australian Signals Directorate offered the NSA information “including communications between Indonesian officials and the American law firm” that was representing Jakarta in the trade dispute.

Australian prime minister Tony Abbott has defended his government’s use of intelligence material, but refused to confirm the allegations made in the New York Times.

However, Abbott said that Australia did not “use anything that we gather as part of our ordinary security and intelligence operations to the detriment of other countries”.

From Bali to Jakarta; Kerry can't keep his lies straight
“We use it for the benefit of our friends. We use it to uphold our values,” he said.

“We use it to protect our citizens and the citizens of other countries, and we certainly don’t use it for commercial purposes.”

Jakarta has responded furiously to previous reports of Canberra’s spying that led to a breakdown in bilateral ties, and tensions are simmering over a hardline Australian military operation to turn people-smuggling boats back to Indonesia.

U.S. Diplomats Given 48 Hours To Leave Venezuela

Maduro doesn't hesitate to expel CIA embassy agents following Kiev riots; CNN, CIA Al Jazeera, Fox News, other "MSM" outlets continue to shill for White House masters, incite further rioting, deaths in both countries that have opposed Obama criminals

RT
02/18/2014

Venezuela has given three American diplomats from the US Embassy in Caracas 48 hours to exit the country after President Nicolas Maduro leveled accusations of conspiracy and meeting with students to incite anti-government sentiment.

Maduro demonstrates spine in expelling CIA agents
Following days of opposition protests, three unnamed diplomats were declared persona non grata by Maduro during a televised address on Sunday night.

On Monday Venezuela’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Elias Jaua announced that the US diplomats in question were vice consuls Breann Marie McCusker and Jeffrey Elsen, and Kristofer Lee Clark, who holds the rank of second secretary at the US consulate.

Jaua said during a press conference that the three officials had assisted “groups that seek to generate violence in the country,” and that they had 48 hours to leave.

As evidence, Jaua cited email correspondence from US embassy officials in recent years that supposedly call for funding from Washington to support Venezuelan student groups, AP reported.

He added that the diplomats sought contacts “for the training, the financing and the creation of youth organizations to foment violence.”

Obama believes himself omnipotent; rules the world
"It's a group of US functionaries who are in the universities. We've been watching them having meetings in the private universities for two months. They work in visas," Maduro stated Sunday in a nationally televised broadcast.

Last Wednesday, over 10,000 people poured onto the streets of Caracas to peacefully protest their growing worries, such as the country's high murder rate and a record-breaking 56 percent inflation.

At the end of Wednesday’s opposition protests, a group of students battled with security forces and pro-government militias, leaving three people dead. Maduro’s government blamed the violence on Harvard-educated opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez, whom Maduro accuses of leading a US-backed "fascist" plot to oust the socialist government.

“There is a fascist group that abuses public freedoms and democracy to play politics and prepare to overthrow the government,” Maduro said.

Obama, CIA responsible for riots, deaths
In addition, journalist Miguel Angel Perez presented a video on Venezuelan state channel TeleSur on Monday, claiming it is a recording of a telephone conversation between two far-right political elements. In the recording, a “retired general from the Venezuelan Army” and Ramón Guillermo Aveledo member of opposition group The Democratic Unity Roundtable, talk about the possible ouster of the current government.

Angel Perez said this was clear evidence of a conspiracy plan to destabilize Venezuela.

The US State Department responded Monday, calling Maduro’s allegations “baseless and false.”

“As we have long said, Venezuela's political future is for the Venezuelan people to decide,” said State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki, according to AFP.

Protests in Caracas continued Monday, Ruptly news agency reported, as hundreds anti-government protesters marched to the offices of media regulatory body Conatel.

Lopez and opposition allies announced Monday they will reroute a protest on Tuesday away from the central plaza in Caracas to avoid clashing with a simultaneous pro-government march called for by Maduro.

Gregory Wilpert, author of "Changing Venezuela by Taking Power," says the more radical end of Maduro's opposition has decided to act now to highlight inflation and shortages in the national economy. Though he said the protests will likely have more of an impact on Maduro's image than his grip on power.

"(The protests) represent more of a challenge to his public relations, I think, than an actual challenge to his power," Wilpert told RT in an interview. "Internationally, there's been a tremendous amount of success in portraying the government as having cracked down on opposition demonstrators and making the government look bad in that sense."

He said the charges of US subterfuge must be put into proper historical perspective, at least at this early juncture.

"One has to see those accusations in the context of US history and its interference throughout Latin American countries over the past century," he said. "There's a long series of interventions, and that makes especially left governments of Latin America very suspicious of US government intentions."

Fierce Clashes In Kiev As New Wave Of Unrest Grips Ukraine

Obama's murdering, CIA mercs responsible for Kiev riots in another failed White House attempt to "punish" Putin for continuing Snowden revelations, the latest in Indonesia

RT
02/18/2014

Rioters and police in central Kiev are exchanging smoke and stun grenades, as a fresh wave of violence is gripping the Ukrainian capital. While the rioters have no clear demands, the opposition keeps pushing for the president’s resignation.

Tuesday, February 18

19:10 GMT:

The leader of the Ukrainian Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) opposition party, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, has asked President Viktor Yanukovich for a truce until morning, Itar-Tass reported.

Yatsenyuk appealed to Yanukovich while speaking from a stage on Maidan amid a standoff between armed protesters and police.

19:07 GMT:

EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule said he spoke with the acting Ukrainian prime minister over the phone and that the official assured him that no gunfire would be used against the anti-government protesters in Kiev.

“I was just on the phone with the acting prime minister, telling him that seeing the Berkut [riot] police with Kalashnikovs is a source of great concern, and he assured me that he himself and the authorities will do everything for those weapons to stay silent,” Fule said, as quoted by Reuters. He added that he has been “shaken” by images of Tuesday clashes in Kiev.

Obama responsible for all deaths, damage in Kiev
18:59 GMT:

Rioters in central Kiev attempted to set fire to a police armored vehicle with a flurry of Molotov cocktails after the police used it to storm a barricade. Reports from the scene say the fire has been extinguished and the vehicle is now operational.

18:55 GMT:

Police are using loudspeakers and urging protesters to leave Independence Square (Maidan). Speakers on stage are calling for the government to call off its “dogs” and are chanting slogans like “Glory to Ukraine!” and “Death to the enemies!”

Obama has longstanding family ties to CIA
18:46 GMT:

An emergency meeting has been scheduled at 11pm local time between President Viktor Yanukovich and the nation's three opposition leaders to find a solution to the escalating violence, according to the Kiev Post.

However, the Unian news agency has reported that Yanukovich said he would meet the opposition only after the violence stops.

18:44 GMT:

A group of rioters armed with clubs have stormed into the Canadian Embassy in Kiev, reports the press service of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry. The unidentified rioters broke into the Embassy, destroyed some of its property and attacked the Embassy’s staff, the ministry says.

Earlier on Tuesday, a group of about 1,000 rioters attempted to storm a district police headquarters building in Kiev, using an explosive device in the process. The rioters seized two trolley buses to block the streets and a truck to ram police cordons. They also smashed an ambulance and broke into several offices in central Kiev.

White House criminals responsible for yet another civil war
18:24 GMT:

Security forces have started an anti-terrorist operation at Independence Square in Kiev.

The Berkut police forces and three water cannon have gathered at the scene, while armored troop carriers have reportedly surrounded the square.

Protesters are calling for women and children to leave the area immediately, while stun grenades are exploding at the scene.

18:21 GMT:

Footage from central Kiev shows rioters hurling fireworks, petrol bombs and stones at the police regrouping around Independence Square (Maidan). Fire trucks were also in evidence and used for extinguishing fires ignited by protesters along the square, and for keeping rioters away from police lines.

18:01 GMT:

Road traffic coming to Kiev will be limited from midnight to prevent an escalation of clashes, the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has announced.

Members Of Pussy Riot Released In Sochi

CNN continues to shill for Pussy Riot deviants and pedophiles on orders from Obama in failed attempt to "punish" Putin for ongoing, devastating Snowden revelations

Sochi, Russia (CNN) --
Two members of Russian punk band Pussy Riot were detained briefly Tuesday in central Sochi, after apparently being considered suspects in a theft at their hotel, and then released.

"A survey in connection with the theft at the Hotel Adler is completed, there is no claim against those questioned," police said in a prepared statement.

Earlier in the day, band members Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova were meeting with journalists when police detained them, according to Tolokonnikova's husband, Petr Verzilov. Russian media corroborated the report.

"They were put to the floor and beaten and physical force was used to them when they refused to be questioned without the presence of their lawyer, who was on his way to the police department," Verzilov told reporters.

"Unbelievable lawlessness, even we are amazed," tweeted Tolokonnikova. "Beat on the floor of the department, in the Olympic capital!"

Invoking the name of Russian President Vladimir Putin, she added, "They dragged me on the floor in the hall of the department, hands tied behind back and thrown to the floor. Putin will teach you to love the motherland!"

She said they would file a complaint with the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

The two women had been walking down a street accompanied by the journalists, three other members of Pussy Riot who use pseudonyms, and two local activists, when a group of about 10 plainclothes police approached them and asked for their identification, said "Tank," one of the anonymous bandmates. The police said they suspected Tolokonnikova may have had something to do with a theft in the hotel where the band members were staying, Tank said.

The officers then took away the band members, activists and journalists for questioning.

Tolokonnikova, Alyokhina and Tank tweeted the news about their detention from their cell phones, with Tolokonnikova posting photos of what she said was the vehicle that was taking her to a police station.

In a separate tweet, Alyokhina said they had been forced into a police van after being stopped near the Church of Mikhail the Archangel and accused of committing a crime.

Tank called CNN from the police station, complaining about having to wait there with no information from police.

They were not put in handcuffs, she said.

The band members were in Sochi to protest what they said was the lack of freedom of speech and to record a song in English critical of Putin and called "Putin will teach you to love the homeland."
CIA owned "MSM" continue to shill for Pussy Riot pedophiles
Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina had been imprisoned for nearly two years after being convicted of "hooliganism" and inciting religious hatred for performing a punk song slamming Putin in a Moscow cathedral and then posting a video of it online.

Since their release, just before the Olympic Games began, they have spoken to journalists about their time behind bars, describing the conditions as squalid and their treatment by guards as demeaning and inhumane.

A third member of Pussy Riot, Yekaterina Samutsevich, was released in 2012.

This month, other band members said Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina were no longer part of the group, which Verzilov said Tuesday was false.
