Newly leaked documents reveal western intelligence agencies pushed stories and spread propaganda through Twitter, Facebook, Flicker and YouTube in order to fan the flames of unrest in Ukraine.
The reports call these applications as part and parcel of espionage sects including GCHQ and NSA’s Computer Network Information Operations (CNIO).
Apart from the technological warfare, JTRIG (Joint Threat Research Intelligence Group) admits that it employs credential harvesting against foreign news agencies. Spies and provocateurs masquerading as journalists have been discovered filing phony news reports from Ukraine.
Investigative journalist Wayne Madsen believes the so-called Infinite Curvature and Mountain Slope propaganda tactics were applied by the western intelligence agencies in Ukraine.
“When [former] president Yanukovych decided not to accept this European Union deal on bringing the Ukraine closer to the EU, the rhetoric and the propaganda in social media was increased. Now, this can be directly linked back to the GCHQ’s JTRIG Operation which exactly uses these types of social media to foment unrest in targeted countries and Ukraine was certainly a targeted country”, Madsen adds.

This is while on Sunday, the new government in Ukraine declared Kiev could sign parts of a European Union association pact later this month.
Acting Foreign Minister Andriy Deshchytsya said that Kiev plans to sign the political association deal with the EU on March 17 or 21.
Political crisis erupted in Ukraine in November 2013, after the country’s ousted president, Viktor Yanukovych, refrained from signing the Association Agreement with the EU in favor of closer ties with Russia.
The Ukrainian parliament ousted Yanukovych in February and named Oleksandr Turchynov, the legislature’s newly-elected speaker, as interim president.
