This bleak analysis too optimistic

The failed policies of the United States, both domestically and internationally, have made Americans extremely pessimistic about the future and about their government, a US policy analyst says.
Americans have begun 2014 with a profoundly negative view of their government and little trust in their system of democracy, a recent poll found.
According to an Associated Press-NORC poll released last week, half of Americans believe the US system of democracy needs either “a lot of changes” or a complete overhaul.
“Polls that are showing Americans are very pessimistic about the future seem to me to be perfectly accurate for a multiplicity of reasons,” said James Fetzer, an editor at Veterans Today and founder of Scholars for 9/11 Truth.
“The foreign policy of the United States has been one disaster after another,” Fetzer told Press TV on Sunday.
Fetzer said US military interventions in Africa and “endless wars in the Middle East – that have been conducted to benefit Israel” - are examples of the failed US foreign policy that have made Americans increasingly pessimistic.
“Domestically, the situation has been terrible” as well, Fetzer said. He said among the most urgent problems Americans face are healthcare reform, jobs, economic disparities, and the inability of Congress to pass legislation on time.
