Tragedy of U.S. Cop Training by Israeli "Companies" (Mossad Torturers)

So this is where coward corporate pigs got their murderous training, marching orders from:  Criminal-In-Chief Bush unleashes Zionist torture tactics on unsuspecting American civilians who are treated just like Palestinians; dual Israeli citizen and Bush criminal regime henchman "Skeltor" Chertoff guilty of murder of innocent U.S. protesters, needs to be tried, convicted, executed

PRESS TV

During the Bush administration, Israeli-American dual citizen and Director of Homeland Security Chertoff mandated that American police forces be trained by Israeli groups in crowd control, counter-terrorism and intelligence gathering.

Bush's top torturer, Michael "Skeltor" Chertoff
Since that time, shootings of unarmed civilians has gone up 500%, attacks on legal political protests by police have become a scandal and huge stockpiles of ammunition and military heavy weaponry have been distributed to law enforcement groups in every region of America, both local and federally controlled.

Additionally, Army Chief of Staff General Odierno has offered the use of the U.S. Army, an offer published in the Council on Foreign Relations journal, Foreign Affairs, to suppress political dissent by force, a violation of his oath of office and, quite literally, an act of conspiracy against the sovereignty of the U.S. and State governments.

The current problem with law enforcement and the diminishment of legal rights of Americans is now at levels that cannot be ignored any longer. It has become obvious to an ever increasing number of Americans that something is in the works, perhaps a political coup or a military take-over.

Years ago such things were done behind closed doors, now it seems it can be done in the open, just like shooting down presidents, killing senators in plane crashes or blowing up office buildings.

Criminals, traitors Bush and Zionist lackey "Skeltor" Chertoff
Instability in the United States is very real. With Mitt Romney planning a new war while cutting taxes for the rich, one in four Americans is suffering from malnutrition and one in five children live with constant hunger in a nation that spends billions of dollars to subsidize and store excess food. There is now a legitimate concern that armed law enforcement officers, numbering over 800,000, with constables and auxiliaries taking that number over 1 million, foreign-led criminal organizations may systematically be gaining control of America in a form of “rot from within.”

It doesn’t take a genius to track down the money behind half of America’s politicians to their source, bank fraud, narcotics, gun running, medical scams and the oil monopoly. This is the new organized crime.

U.S. Marine Scot Olsen was targeted and shot by coward, drug and steroid addled Oakland pigs who are attempting to eliminate Marines as they are leadership threat, Olsen sustained major brain injuries

What had once been police is how a “hodge-podge” thousands of agencies, each one falling like dominoes, unable to resist offers of advanced military weapons, offers of “informal discretionary funding” (bribes) and quickly degenerating into an army of occupation.

Key to this has been Israeli training, sending into America so-called experts who have long operated in an environment where killing civilians under cover of a rigged racist system of government has been official policy for over six decades.

Coward San Francisco pigs arrest Marine Corps Sergeant Edward Mayer during protest; criminal corporate cops make sure the odds are at least 10 to one before attacking Marines, SEALS, Army Special Forces who would make short work of them

Israel’s militarized police are trained to violate human rights on a daily basis. 116 UN resolutions have been filed and passed by majority vote by the General Assembly citing them with apartheid and genocide, exactly the description of America that Mitt Romney and his friends are offering America.

Police Killings

In my own town recently, a police officer shot and killed an Iraq War veteran while the man was asleep. The officer had been called to the home because the family was concerned about their son who was having trouble adjusting.

Coward, drug crazed pigs now killing elderly and homeless
They let the officer in the house, and rather than waking the sleeping veteran, the officer simply emptied his pistol into the man’s body.

I just did a Google search of the phrase: “police shoot unarmed man” and got 1,610,000 results.

Either we talk about little else or this seems to happen a lot.

In almost every case, the officers responsible for these killings are trained in the Israeli martial art of Krav Fit, contracts pushed by the Department of Homeland Security.

Israeli groups train in crowd control, use of military weapons and armored vehicles against America’s “Occupy dissidents,” the poor, the homeless, mental patients and veterans, so far.

When the amount of ammunition is counted up and the military firepower estimated, the list may well expand to “anyone not willing to submit to live as human slaves.”

Killings Always Covered Up

The death toll is never counted but is currently in the hundreds, perhaps thousands. Police are never properly investigated, never called to account, just as with the IDF team that ended their standoff with 22-year-old American waif, Rachel Corrie, who was crushed TWICE by a “free” Caterpillar bulldozer, a gift from the American people, donated to be used to crush the homes of Palestinians.

Coward pigs now using Israeli torture, killing techniques on Americans

In this incident, Corrie was protecting 6 small children. An Israeli court found the only way Corrie could be dealt with, by an entire platoon of IDF Commandos, was to drive over her with a bulldozer. This was considered a legal use of force against an American citizen.

And Israel wonders why tens of millions of Americans suspect them for plotting 9/11?

Houston Wheelchair Killing

This police incident was a classic. The victim was living in a group home for the mentally ill. He was in a wheelchair having lost an arm and leg some time before in a rail accident.

Israeli training at it's best at OWS protest, coward pigs go for the easy, less dangerous targets:  The elderly, women, crippled

Two Israeli trained Houston Police were sent. The spokesman for the Houston Police, Jodi Siva, claimed the man “cornered” one of the police officers and threatened him with an object.

Both officers had completed Krav Fit martial arts training from their Israeli instructors at a cost of thousands of dollars a day.

Coward pigs at OWS protest gang up to feel-up, molest female protester

There is, within this tragedy an aspect of absurdity. Other than guns and watching sports, martial arts is one of the biggest forms of recreation in the United States. I began formal training at 8 and continued as a trainer or in competition well into my 50s.

Of course all U.S. Marines have advanced martial arts training as with Army Rangers, Special Forces, SEALS, specialized units of the Air Force and about 4 million civilians who hold “black belt” or above level training.

There are two initial issues here, one, of course, is turning to what may officially be the least athletic nation on earth, Israel, for training in an area of athletic prowess, sort of a “coals to Newcastle” type of thing.

Coward NYPD pigs wouldn't go near Marine Corps giant and Iraq war Veteran Sgt. Shamar Thomas who called them out

Israel is not Okinawa or Korea. If I want violin or chess lessons, Israel will be among my first 100 choices.

The second, of course, is that the whole thing is a “con” in the first place, the only time a police officer in Houston was involved in a potential terror plot, he mistakenly killed a CIA agent. This is quite an interesting story from May 2008:

Federal sources close to this case have told me CIA Agent Roland Carnaby had proof a "suitcase nuke" had arrived inside the U.S. from Israel on Tuesday. He was chasing the device and the Israelis who had it.

Coward pigs now deploying illegal sonic weapons in American cities against protesters

As local law enforcement was called-in, for some unknown reason cops allegedly began chasing the CIA Agent instead of the Israelis and ultimately shot the CIA Agent dead!

The Houston wheelchair shooting is a classic. We have two armed police officers, highly trained in the mysterious martial arts of Israel, we have a subject in a wheel chair with one arm and one leg and in his hand is a ballpoint pen. The officers, of course, had batons, tasers, and were wearing body armour.

Gas canister wounds inflicted by coward OWS pigs
A more likely scenario, one with a typical Israeli aspect to it, would have had the second officer simply take the handles of the wheel chair, run it out into the street and under a passing bus or perhaps a bulldozer of one could be arranged.

The victim had committed no crime, had no warrants but was suspected of “causing a disturbance.” Group homes, such as this one, are seldom staffed with competent professional personnel and are generally a method of bilking government programs out of money while commonly physically and emotionally abusing residents.

Personnel working in “group homes” typically have, themselves, criminal records. This is the average qualification in the United States for taking care of the old, the helpless and the infirm.

The officer who killed the unidentified man is named Matthew Jacob Marin. He has been placed on a 3-day administrative leave.

This is his second killing in the past few years.

In August, a Jeffrey T. Johnson, a legitimate armed suspect, was shot and killed by two New York police officers, also trained by Israeli companies.

The officers were 8 feet from Johnson when he drew his weapon. They then opened fire, hitting Johnson but also hitting 9 other people in the area, spraying bullets everywhere.

Coward, stoned pigs tear up, loot Oakland, California protest camp

The incident began when Johnson shot and killed his Israeli employer who had recently ended his employment for reasons Johnson had found “unsatisfactory.”

New York police who cornered Johnson, who was armed with a Spanish made Star .380 7 shot pistol with 2 rounds remaining in the magazine, then opened fire, hitting Johnson then “accidentally” shooting 9 others, some as far “off line” as 120 degrees.

Was the Israeli training team brought in there from the Haifa School for the Blind?

Two days ago, an 83-year old crime victim, Delma Tower of Lynchburg, Virginia was killed by police for “failing to obey orders.” The 83-year old was fleeing armed intruders who had broken into her home, she was barefoot, wearing a night dress and was not wearing either her glasses or hearing aid.

Police were unable to discern a half-naked 83-year old woman who was nearly blind from the two large male armed intruders, who of course escaped while the victim of the crime, while is so often the case, died in a hail of police gunfire. Each month, the National Rifle Association prints a magazine read by millions of Americans. This organization, one that works closely with police and is associated with the Romney campaign, lauds civilians who use their right to bear arms and reports carefully selected stories where civilians making use of their constitutional rights, but are not killed by police who mistake them for criminals.

I could list a hundred, a thousand such shootings. Sometimes weapons are found at the scene, sometimes those killed have criminal records, and incidents like this have a long history.

What has changed today is that those killed are simply gunned down, no weapon mysteriously dropped by the police, victims are often aged, sometimes even financially well off, there seems to be an agenda that, more than anything else, resembles terrorism, the random killing of any American anywhere, anytime and under any circumstances by police who are unable to explain what they do.

Moreover, nobody ever seriously questions anything that police do.

It is almost as though a mass psychosis has taken over American law enforcement, every face a potential “bin Laden,” every minor confrontation solved only with volleys of gunfire.

The only common factor in so many of these incidents is the Israeli training, teaching American police to mimic Israeli treatment of the Palestinian people. It seems American police have caught Israel’s national obsession of fearfulness and feigned victimization.

Italy/U.S. : Ruling on CIA Case Highlights U.S. Inaction ; Italian High Court Upholds Convictions as Washington Closes the Book on Abuse Cases

CIA scumbag murderers will eventually be brought to justice, most likely now by enraged family members who have vowed to kill them on sight following failure of "justice system"

Human Rights Watch
09/20/2012

 Milan –

The ruling by Italy’s highest court to uphold convictions against 23 United States agents stands in stark contrast to the US failure to prosecute any official involved in the Central Intelligence Agency’s unlawful rendition program. On September 19, 2012, the Supreme Court of Cassation upheld convictions against 22 Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) agents and one Air Force officer in the February 2003 abduction of an Egyptian imam known as Abu Omar.

CIA scumbag Cofer Black responsible for "renditions"
“The Obama administration should take the Italian ruling as a signal that other countries will not let US officials off the hook for torture and illegal rendition,” said Andrea Prasow, senior counterterrorism counsel at Human Rights Watch. “Since the US Justice Department appears entirely unwilling to investigate and prosecute these very serious crimes, other countries should move forward with their own cases against US officials.”

On November 4, 2009, an Italian criminal court had convicted the 23 Americans in absentiaalong with two Italian nationals.

The Italian court decision highlights the US government’s complete failure to hold CIA agents and senior officials accountable for the numerous, well-documented allegations of torture, ill-treatment, and unlawful renditions committed during the George W. Bush administration, Human Rights Watch said. Only a few low-ranking military personnel have received prison terms.

On August 30, US Attorney General Eric Holder announced that the only criminal investigation the Justice Department had undertaken into alleged abuses in CIA custody, headed by special prosecutor John Durham, would be closed. This investigation resulted in no criminal charges, including in the cases of two detainees who died after apparent mistreatment while in US custody.
Obama could care less about CIA illegal kidnappings
“US officials should be deeply embarrassed that the Italian government had the courage to do what the Obama administration has not – hold people accountable for torture,” Prasow said. “Abu Omar is just one of many victims of the CIA’s rendition program, and there are many other cases that need to be investigated.”

Abu Omar was kidnapped as he was walking down a Milan street on February 17, 2003. After his captors drove him to Aviano Air Base in northeastern Italy, they allegedly put him on a plane and flew him to Ramstein Air Base in Germany, and from there to Egypt. He alleges that he was tortured repeatedly during the nearly four years he was held in Egyptian custody. He was released from prison without charge in February 2007.

In December 2007, Abu Omar told Human Rights Watch that he was violently abused upon his arrival in Egypt. “You cannot imagine. … I was hung up like a slaughtered sheep and given electric shocks,” he said. “I was brutally tortured and could hear the screams of others who were tortured too.”
Many of those illegally "rendered" by the CIA died at their hands and the hands of insane, ghoulish U.S. military torturers, one of which poses here for a "trophy" photo for the family album

Initially, Italian authorities charged 26 Americans, all but one of whom were alleged CIA agents, and seven Italians who were members of Italy’s military intelligence service, SISMI. A first ruling found that three of the 26 Americans were entitled to diplomatic immunity, and five of the Italians were shielded by state secrecy laws. According to media reports, the September 19 decision reversed the ruling about the Italian agents, finding they were not fully protected by Italian state secrecy laws, and ordered them to face a new trial. Human Rights Watch had disagreed with the trial court’s reading of diplomatic immunity protections on the basis that such immunity should not be interpreted to protect officials responsible for grave human rights crimes.

The Italian defendants in the case include Gen. Nicolo Pollari, former head of SISMI, who was forced to resign over Abu Omar’s abduction and rendition, and Pollari’s former deputy, Marco Mancini.

The American defendants include 22 alleged CIA operatives – including the former CIA Milan station chief Robert Seldon Lady, as well as US Air Force Lt. Col. Joseph Romano, who was stationed at the Aviano military base in northeastern Italy at the time the events occurred. According to media reports, the court confirmed seven-year sentences for all those convicted except Lady who received nine years.

Human Rights Watch is concerned that trials in absentia do not afford defendants an adequate opportunity to present a defense as required under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Should Italian law enforcement authorities ever gain custody over the defendants, Human Rights Watch believes that the men should be granted a retrial.

TARP Bailout Fraud : Where Did the Money Go?

This is one question the "mainstream media" refuses to ask, and most Americans don't want to acknowledge the answer to as it would require action on their part

Global Research
By Stephen Lendman
09/21/2012

On December 8, 2008, the Senate confirmed Neil Barofsky’s nomination as Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) watchdog. He assumed the post of SIGTARP (Special Inspector General for TARP).On July 20, 2009, he estimated the $700 billion bailout fund could balloon to $23.7 trillion. Obama administration secrecy conceals what’s essential to reveal. Over $9 trillion is known. Some analysts think true figures may be three times that amount. Only crooked bankers and corrupt bureaucrats know for sure

In February 2009, Barofsky submitted an initial report to Congress. In the past two months, he said, Washington handed out hundreds of billions of dollars (like confetti) to troubled financial institutions.

Where did the money go, he asked? What assurances exist that it’s not stolen or wasted?

TARP didn’t require recipients to report or internally track funds used. Accountability wasn’t mandated. Banks took full advantage. Instead of loans to stimulate recovery, they hoarded cash, acquired other financial institutions, paid off debt, speculated, and knew then and now there’s plenty more help for the asking.

Fraud prevention standards weren’t imposed. Barofsky doubts the program’s longterm success.

On March 29, 2011, he headlined a New York Times op-ed “Where the Bailout Went Wrong,” saying:

Two and a half years after legislation passed, Obama officials declared mission accomplished. “On my last day as the special inspector general….I regret to say that I strongly disagree.”

High time to slaughter the bull, once and for all
TARP and what followed struck out. It “failed to meet some of its most important goals.” Main Street was sacrificed for Wall Street.

Congress was told TARP funds would buy up to $700 billion of mortgages. Authorizing legislation (the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act – EESA) emphasized preserving homeownership.

Treasury officials promised help. EESA mandated it. Struggling homeowners got none. Legislative provisions were violated. Treasury changed the rules. Money went to banks with no accountability or mandate to extend credit.

“There were no strings attached: no requirement or even incentive to increase lending to home buyers, and against our strong recommendation, not even a request that banks report how they used TARP funds.”

Instead of increased lending, it declined. As inspector general, Barofsky had no enforcement power. He could only recommend. Suggested policies fell on deaf ears. Treasury and Wall Street conspired to commit grand theft. Ordinary people were hung out to dry and scammed.

War criminal, illiterate scumbag George W. Bush began the bank ripoff stampede by deregulating banks, banking laws that led to the bogus real estate market, eventually resulting in world financial collapse

Helping homeowners was shelved. The Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) was introduced. Obama promised four million families help. The program was “a colossal failure.”

It was designed to fail. Its provisions included no accountability. Guidelines only were provided. Banks and other mortgage services ignored them. Foreclosures mounted. Millions of homeowners were defrauded. Nothing changed to this day.

Obama, now controlled by banks and bankers that financed his first presidential campaign allowed the theft to continue and further rewarded bankers with stolen TARP taxpayer money that was never paid back despite claims to the contrary

One of HAMP’s most pernicious abuses was letting servicers “direct borrowers who were current on their mortgages to start skipping payments, telling them that that would allow them to qualify for a HAMP modification,” said Barofsky.

“Homeowners who might have been able to ride out the crisis instead ended up in long trial modifications, after which servicers would deny them a permanent modification and send them an enormous ‘deficiency’ bill.”

Wall Street protesters were gassed, pepper sprayed, assaulted by coward corporate pigs attempting to protect bankers and their ill-gotten gains

“Borrowers who might otherwise never have missed a payment found themselves hit with whopping bills that they couldn’t pay and now faced foreclosure. It was a disaster.”

Geithner bears full responsibility. Understating problems, he admitted solutions “won’t come close” to expectations. He refused to address glaring shortfalls. He abandoned Main Street for Wall Street. He’s complicit in grand theft. He and banker cronies belong in prison.

Millions of Americans now homeless after losing homes to Bush, Obama, bankers fraudulent mortgages

Banks know they can steal with impunity. They’re larger and more powerful now than when crisis conditions erupted. They can speculate recklessly. They’ll be bailed whenever they get in trouble.

Treasury “ignore(d) rather than support(ed) real” reforms. Its “broken promises” turned TARP and other programs into a giant Wall Street “giveaway.”

Its “mismanagement” and criminal complicity “damaged the credibility of the government….” Conditions are so out of control that future policy makers may be unable “to save the system the next time a crisis arises.”

Perhaps that’s TARP’s “most lasting, and unfortunate, legacy.”

Barofsky’s new book “Bailout: An Inside Account of How Washington Abandoned Main Street While Rescuing Wall Street” explains.

Writer/Roosevelt Institute fellow Matthew Stoller calls it “a very important” account of the financial crisis aftermath. In April 2010, Barofsky met a key adversary.

Herbert Allison formerly headed Merrill Lynch, TIAA-CREF and Fannie Mae. He came out of retirement to oversee TARP. He became Assistant Treasury Secretary for Financial Stability.

“Have you thought at all about what you’ll be doing next,” he asked. “Out there in the market, there are consequences for some of the things you’re saying and the way you’re saying them.”

Barofsky knew he was being threatened “with lifelong unemployment.” Going along instead of bucking the system assures revolving door plum positions. “It was gold or the lead,” he explained.

Cooperate and get rich. Don’t and lose out. At first, he “had no idea that the US government had been captured by” bankers. He was “shocked (at) how much control” they have over policy on their own terms. Treasury goes along deferentially. Republicans or Democrats agree on core issues.

He was hijacked and hamstrung. Too big to fail constitutes near omnipotence. Whatever Wall Street wants it gets. Contesting its power is futile.

Stoller calls “Bailout” an account of “the importance of Congressional oversight in reigning in corruption, and the problems of our imperial Presidency.”

Barofsky hoped for press and congressional attention. “Our message was simple,” he said. “Treasury’s desperate attempt to bail out Wall Street was setting the country up for potentially catastrophic losses.”

Throughout his tenure, he was obstructed. He faced road blocks, ambushes, trench warfare, and threats in trying to do his job.

On arrival at Treasury, he saw ornate large offices given top officials. He got a small, foul-smelling basement one with barred windows. He spent most of the next three years there. He wasn’t welcome unless he played ball. It’s not his style and he refused.

He explained what he saw graphically. Homeowners were abandoned and scammed. A tsunami of evictions, foreclosures, fraud, mortgage document robo-signings, blighted neighborhoods, and homelessness continues without relief.

Taxpayers got the bill. Bankers got benefits. So did lobbyists and go-along politicians. The combination of Treasury criminality, White House complicity, congressional laxity, and regulatory failure keeps the dirty game going.

Since crisis conditions erupted five years ago, ordinary people were sold out and lied to. Obama exceeded the worst Bush administration policies. Political corruption is rampant.

Barofsky’s best efforts failed. Attempts to achieve accountability, transparency, controls, and consumer protections proved no match for entrenched bureaucratic power, privilege and complicity with Wall Street.

He issued numerous reports. Geithner and other Obama officials buried them. Media scoundrels largely ignored them.

Barofsky believes Geithner, complicit officials, and Wall Street crooks should be fired and prosecuted. Don’t expect it as long as criminals run America.

Five years after crisis conditions erupted, no top Wall Street or government official faced charges. Unaccountability is institutionalized. An eventual greater crisis looms. Unresolved problems assure it. When is anyone’s guess.

Iran Would Clobber Israel Within 24 hours : Iranian General

Obama, nutcase Netanyahu both need another illegal war to boost their chances for reelection, cover for massive ripoffs of countries respective treasuries, disintegrating economies

PRESS TV
09/23/2012

The deputy commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says the Islamic Republic can annihilate the Zionist regime of Israel in 24 hours.

Iran would flatten Israel in a matter of hours
“A regime [with a frontier] that in some spots is only 24 kilometers wide could have its back broken by one of our infantry battalions in 24 hours,” Brigadier General Hossein Salami told an Iranian television station on Sunday.

“Our defense strategy assumption is that we would enter an all-out war with a US-led global coalition,” the general said, adding, “We have already identified the vital interests of the enemies and established an invasive power structure to destroy these vital interests.”

“We know that the enemy bases in the region, the security of the Zionist regime, energy supply security and protecting the life of enemy troops constitute the vital interest of the enemy,” General Salami noted.
“Our strategic doctrines are all defensive, but our tactics are invasive. It means that we do not initiate any war, but if anyone wages a war against us, we will counterattack incessantly and will not stop,” he warned adding, “The enemy could initiate a war, but its ending would be up to us”.

Iranian ballistic missiles

He also underscored the precision of IRGC-developed missiles, saying, “Our missiles are capable of targeting enemy bases in the region, at any range, with high destruction capabilities. We have mastered the knowledge of developing all modern missiles.”

Israel is stepping up threats of carrying out a unilateral strike against Iran’s nuclear energy facilities before the US presidential election on November 6. However, the US opposes any Israeli military action at the current juncture.

Israeli threats are based on the unsubstantiated claims that the peaceful nuclear activities of the Islamic Republic have been diverted to the acquisition of military nuclear capability.

The Iranian officials have promised a crushing response to any military strike against the country, warning that any such measure could result in a war that would spread beyond the Middle East.

Dangerous and Deepening Divide Between Islamic World, West

Obama, Clinton and Netanyahu the root cause; cessation of U.S. presence in Islamic countries would solve the problem; Middle East could care less about democracy - it's all about dead, innocent civilians courtesy Obama's illegal drones

Reuters
By Peter Apps

WASHINGTON -

For those who believe in a clash of civilizations between the Islamic world and Western democracy, the last few weeks must seem like final confirmation of their theory.

U.S. needs to get the hell out of other countries
Even those who reject the term as loaded and simplistic speak sadly of a perhaps catastrophic failure of understanding between Americans in particular and many Muslims.

The outrage and violence over a crude film ridiculing the Prophet Mohammad points to a chasm between Western free speech and individualism and the sensitivities of some Muslims over what they see as a campaign of humiliation.

There seems no shortage of forces on both sides to fan the flames. The tumult over the video had not even subsided when a French magazine this week printed a new cartoon showing the prophet naked.

"It's ridiculous," Zainab Al-Suwaij, executive director of the America Islamic Congress, said of the violence that on Friday killed 15 in Pakistan alone as what were supposed to be peaceful protests turned violent.

"Yes, this video is offensive but it is clearly a grotesque over reaction that in part is being whipped up by radical Islamists in the region for their own ends. But it does show you the depth of misunderstanding between the cultures."

The main reason Afghans pissed off at the West
Starting last week with a few relatively small embassy protests and a militant attack in Libya that killed the U.S. ambassador and three others, violence has since spread to more than a dozen countries across the Middle East and Asia.

Despite the focus on religion, few doubt there are other drivers of confrontation.

The war on terrorism, U.S. drone strikes, wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the Guantanamo Bay prison simply continue, in many Muslims' perceptions, centuries of Western meddling, hypocrisy and broken promises.

Meanwhile, many Americans see those regions as an inexplicable source of terrorism, hostage-taking, hatred and chaos. In Europe, those same concerns have become intertwined with other battles over immigration and multiculturalism.

"It has always been a difficult relationship and in the last decades it has become even more delicate," said Akbar Ahmed, chair of Islamic studies at American University in Washington. "Even a seemingly minor matter can upset the balance. ... What is needed is more sensitivity and understanding on both sides, but that is difficult to produce."

Americans, European country occupiers would never allow this to transpire in their countries

Not all the news from the region indicates an unbridgeable gap. Many Libyans, especially young ones, came out to mourn Ambassador Chris Stevens after his death and make clear that militants who killed him did not speak for them. Thousands of Libyans marched in Benghazi on Friday to protest the Islamist militias that Washington blames for the attack.

SPREADING DEMOCRACY AND MAKING FRIENDS

Still, the "Arab Spring" appears not to have made as many friends for America as Americans might have hoped.

The very countries in which Washington helped facilitate popular-backed regime change last year - Egypt, Tunisia, Libya and Yemen - are seeing some of the greatest anti-West backlash.

Islamic countries also want to see war criminals such as the scumbag Rumsfeld prosecuted for War Crimes, this would go a long way in promoting peace

The young pro-democracy activists who leapt to the fore in 2011, Washington now believes, have relatively little clout. That leaves U.S. and European officials having to deal with groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood.

There is concern that regional governments such as Egypt might now be playing a "double game", saying one thing to the U.S. while indulging in more anti-Western rhetoric at home.

And as Afghans and Yemenis bury their innocent dead women and children, U.S. Marines and other American military personnel continue to come home in cheap metal caskets

It may be something Washington must get used to.

"What you're seeing now is that (regional governments) are much more worried about their own domestic population - which means being seen as too close to the U.S. is suddenly ... a liability," says Jon Alterman, a former State Department official and now Middle East specialist at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies.

The current U.S. administration is not the first to discover democracy does not always directly translate into the sort of governments it would like to see.

In 2006, the election victory of Islamist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip was seen helping prompt the Bush White House to abandon a post-911 push towards for democratic change, sending it back towards Mubarak-type autocrats.

Rachel Kleinfeld, CEO and co-founder of the Truman National Security Project, a body often cited by the Obama campaign on foreign policy, said the new political leadership often had less flexibility than the dictators before them.

"Is that difficult for the U.S.? Yes, of course. But it would be a mistake to simply look at what is happening and decide we should go back to supporting autocrats," she said.

The popular image of the United States in the Middle East stands in stark contrast to the way Americans view themselves.

Western talk of democracy and human rights is often seen hollow, with Washington and Europe only abandoning autocratic leaders when their fate was already sealed and continuing to back governments such as Bahrain still accused of repression.

"The simple truth is that the American people are never going to understand the region because they never ask the right question - which is what it feels like to be on the receiving end of American power," says Rosemary Hollis, a professor of Middle Eastern studies at London's City University.

MINEFIELD AHEAD

Whoever wins the White House in November will face a string of challenges across the region.

As it faces down Iran over its nuclear program, while backing rebels in Syria and governments in the Gulf, Washington risks being drawn ever deeper into the historic Sunni-Shi'ite sectarian divide within Islam.

Already having to face up to its dwindling influence over Iraq, it must broker its exit from Afghanistan and try to keep nuclear armed Pakistan from chaos.

Then, there are relations with its two key regional allies, Israel and Saudi Arabia, both troublesome in different ways.

Israel is threatening military action against Iran over its nuclear program, and U.S. officials fear Americans would feel the consequences if Israel does attack.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict remains deadlocked, and Obama's rival for the presidency, Republican Mitt Romney, indicated in comments earlier this year and made public this month that he sees little chance of any change there.

Saudi Arabia might be a key oil producer and occasionally invaluable ally, but analysts say some rich Saudis, if not the government itself, have long funded and fueled Islamist and Salifist extremism and perhaps also Sunni-Shi'ite tension.

Said Sadek, professor of politics at the American University in Cairo, said people in the Middle East still prefer Obama to the alternative. "He is seen as the only president to ever really reach out to the Middle East. But (it) is a difficult place," he said. "The countries that have gone through revolutions were always going to be unstable. ... You could have perhaps 5 to 15 years of instability."

While many Americans would like nothing more than to turn their backs on the region, Obama made clear this week he does not see that as an option: "The one thing we can't do is withdraw from the region," he said. "The United States continues to be the one indispensable nation."
