Pushing for War on Iran - Congress Provides the "Green Light" National Defense Authorization Act 2013 : De Facto Declaration of War

"Members" of both houses of congress have been promised something We The People apparently do not know about, and is the reason they could care less about what voters think about passing laws that would normally be political suicide

Congressional hawks want war. Bipartisan support backs it. Moderates outnumber hotheads. At issue is for how long.

Obama and his criminal regime need a war
Saber rattling, fear mongering, and bogus accusations persisted for years. Now it's showing up in legislation. More on that below.

Possibly a false flag will ignite another Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) for "the use of United States Armed Forces against those responsible for the recent attacks launched against the United States."

At high-anxiety times, options often dwindle to war. Knee-jerk congressional support authorizes it with no formal declaration. The Constitution's Article 1, Section 8 mandates it.

It hasn't been declared since December 8, 1941. Why bother when presidential diktats send Americans to war with no congressional opposition.

Threats don't exist so they're invented. False flag attacks masquerade as real ones. Body counts rise exponentially. Buildings and other facilities topple like tenpins.

When people realize they've been had, it's too late. They never learn. No matter how often they're fooled, they're easily deceived again. Once a damn fool, always one. Relying on scoundrel media for news and information makes it easy.

People of the world do not need or want war
Television is worst of all. Print managed news also omits what people most need to know and distorts the rest.

Ahead of the May 18 and 19 G8 meeting and NATO Chicago summit, a New York Times editorial headlined, "NATO and Afghanistan," saying:

Washington claims "real progress" against Taliban forces. In fact, things are out-of-control. Pentagon officials quietly admit the war was lost years ago.

Even The Times was skeptical, saying the "Taliban continue to strike with impunity. Central and local governments are riddled with corruption."

Violence rages. Afghan forces may be more foe than friend. Overwhelming popular sentiment wants America and coalition partners out.

The Times urged pressing on, saying:

"NATO must keep pummeling the Taliban....There is little chance that France’s new president, Fran├žois Hollande, will reverse his ill-considered pledge to pull out all French combat troops by the end of this year."

The U.S. government has been hijacked by warmongers and fruitcakes
Times editorials and commentaries cheerlead imperial US wars and others planned. They back regime change in Syria and Iran. They turn a blind eye to democratic values and rule of law principles.

They're silent on America's support for despots. They oppose independent governments Washington doesn't control. They support making the world safe for capital. They don't track body counts and vast destruction.

War rages in Afghanistan. Out-of-control violence, instability, and human misery wrack Iraq and Libya. Conflicts continue in Yemen, Somalia, and elsewhere. America's directly or indirectly involved in them all.

Times editorials and commentaries support more. They want governments in Syria and Iran toppled by any means. International law prohibits interfering in the internal affairs of other nations except in self-defense if attacked.

Obama, his criminal regime, hangers-on in both houses of congress, JCS believe they personally own the planet and it's resources

Vital issues aren't explained. Whatever Washington wants gets support, especially when it comes to war. Commentaries read like Pentagon handouts. Fraudulent threats are hyped. Wars often follow. Are Syria and Iran next?

On May 18, the House passed HR 4310: National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013. Senate consideration comes next. Rep. Dennis Kucinich urged colleagues to vote no.

Should Obama and congress get their "war," Americans had better be prepared for a lot more of this

He warned about Sections 1221 and 1222. They target Iran. They're for offense, not defense.

Section 1221: Declaration of Policy

"(1) Iran, which has long sought to foment instability and promote extremism in the Middle East, is now seeking to exploit the dramatic political transition underway in the region to undermine governments traditionally aligned with the United States and support extremist political movements in these countries.

(2) At the same time, Iran may soon attain a nuclear weapons capability, a development that would threaten United States interests, destabilize the region, encourage regional nuclear proliferation, further empower and embolden Iran, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, and provide it the tools to threaten its neighbors, including Israel.

(3) With the assistance of Iran over the past several years, Syria, Hezbollah, and Hamas have increased their stockpiles of rockets, with more than 60,000 rockets now ready to be fired at Israel. Iran continues to add to its arsenal of ballistic missiles and cruise missiles, which threaten Iran’s neighbors, Israel, and United States Armed Forces in the region.

(4) Preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon is among the most urgent national security challenges facing the United States.

(5) Successive United States administrations have stated that an Iran armed with a nuclear weapon is unacceptable.

(6) President Obama stated on January 24, 2012, ‘Let there be no doubt: America is determined to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, and I will take no options off the table to achieve that goal.'

(7) In order to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, the United States, in cooperation with its allies, must utilize all elements of national power including diplomacy, robust economic sanctions, and credible, visible preparations for a military option.

(8) Nevertheless, to date, diplomatic overtures, sanctions, and other non-kinetic actions toward Iran have not caused the Government of Iran to abandon its nuclear weapons program.

(9) With the impact of additional sanctions uncertain, additional pressure on the Government of Iran could come from the credible threat of military action against Iran’s nuclear program.

(b) Declaration of Policy- It shall be the policy of the United States to take all necessary measures, including military action if required, to prevent Iran from threatening the United States, its allies, or Iran’s neighbors with a nuclear weapon."

Section 1222: United States Military Preparedness in the Middle East

"(1) military exercises conducted in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman emphasize the United States resolve and the policy of the United States described in section 1221(b) by enhancing the readiness of the United States military and allied forces, as well as signaling to the Government of Iran the commitment of the United States to defend its vital national security interests;" and

"(2) the President, as Commander in Chief, should augment the presence of the United States Fifth Fleet in the Middle East and to conduct military deployments, exercises, or other visible, concrete military readiness activities to underscore the policy of the United States described in section 1221(b)."

"(b) Plan-

(1) IN GENERAL- The Secretary of Defense shall prepare a plan to augment the presence of the United States Fifth Fleet in the Middle East and to conduct military deployments, exercises, or other visible, concrete military readiness activities to underscore the policy of the United States described in section 1221(b)."

"(2) MATTERS TO BE INCLUDED- The plan required under paragraph (1) shall include, at a minimum, steps necessary for the Armed Forces to support the policy of the United States described in section 1221(b), including--

(A) pre-positioning sufficient supplies of aircraft, munitions, fuel, and other materials for both air- and sea-based missions at key forward locations in the Middle East and Indian Ocean;

(B) maintaining sufficient naval assets in the region necessary to signal United States resolve and to bolster United States capabilities to launch a sustained sea and air campaign against a range of Iranian nuclear and military targets, to protect seaborne shipping, and to deny Iranian retaliation against United States interests in the region;

(C) discussing the viability of deploying at least two United States aircraft carriers, an additional large deck amphibious ship, and a Mine Countermeasures Squadron in the region on a continual basis, in support of the actions described in subparagraph (B); and

(D) conducting naval fleet exercises similar to the United States Fifth Fleet’s major exercise in the region in March 2007 to demonstrate ability to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and to counter the use of anti-ship missiles and swarming high-speed boats."

On the House floor, Kucinich said:

"If you want peace, you prepare for peace. If you want war, you prepare for war. The NDAA prepares for war against Iran."

"It calls for pre-positioning planes, bombs, ships, munitions and for naval maneuvers in the Strait of Hormuz. This is not about defense. This is about offense."

"I was a third string quarterback on not a very good varsity football team and I know the difference between defense and offense. We’re preparing to go on offense on Iran which does not have nuclear weapons and has no intention or real capability to attack the United States."

"We're about to make the same disastrous mistake we made against Iraq. This bill does not explicitly authorize war, perhaps, but that's beside the point. It’s licensing it. It sets the stage for it in an election year."

"Wake up, Congress."

On March 1, HR 568 was introduced. It expresses the sense of the House of Representatives regarding the importance of preventing the Government of Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapons "capability."

On March 17, it passed. On February 16, a comparable Senate bill was introduced. So far, no action was taken. Expect easy passage ahead.

Ron Paul said some of his House colleagues believe the legislation amounts to "Congressional approval for the use of military force against Iran."

HR 568 states:

"Resolved, That the House of Representatives--

(1) warns that time is limited to prevent the Government of Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapons capability;

(2) urges continued and increasing economic and diplomatic pressure on Iran to secure an agreement with the Government of Iran that includes--

(A) the full and sustained suspension of all uranium enrichment-related and reprocessing activities;

(B) complete cooperation with the IAEA on all outstanding questions related to Iran’s nuclear activities, including--

(i) the implementation of the Additional Protocol to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons; and

(ii) the verified end of Iran’s ballistic missile programs; and

(C) a permanent agreement that verifiably assures that Iran’s nuclear program is entirely peaceful;

(3) expresses support for the universal rights and democratic aspirations of the Iranian people;

(4) affirms that it is a vital national interest of the United States to prevent the Government of Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapons capability;

(5) strongly supports United States policy to prevent the Government of Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapons capability;

(6) rejects any policy that would rely on efforts to contain a nuclear weapons-capable Iran; and

(7) urges the President to reaffirm the unacceptability of an Iran with nuclear-weapons capability and opposition to any policy that would rely on containment as an option in response to the Iranian nuclear threat."

On April 14 and 15, Iran nuclear talks were held. Istanbul hosted so-called P5+1 countries plus Tehran. They include the five permanent Security Council members - America, Russia, China, Britain, and France plus Germany.

On May 23, Baghdad will host a second round. Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi expressed hope for resolving contentious issues successfully. His optimism appears unwarranted.

Washington's Israeli envoy, Dan Shapiro, said US plans to attack Iran are "fully available" either alone or jointly with Israel.

America "guarantee(s) that the military option is ready and available to the president at the moment he decides to use it."

Shapiro's comments reflect what Iran will confront in Baghdad and henceforth. Its program is peaceful. Washington and Israel claim otherwise. Credible evidence contradicts them.

Iran won't relinquished its Nuclear Non-Proliferations Treaty rights, nor should it. Deadlock, not resolution looks likely. HR 568 and its Senate version advances things closer to war. Instead of lowering tensions, they're heightened.

Citing an Iranian nuclear weapons "capability" as a pretext for war way oversteps reason. All nations with peaceful nuclear programs have "capability" to produce weapons.

Nuclear expert Helen Caldicott calls nuclear power plants atom bomb factories. A 1000 megawatt reactor produces 500 pounds of plutonium annually. Only 10 are needed for a bomb able to devastate a large city and spread permanent radiation contamination.

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell said HR 568 "reads like the same sheet of music that got us into the Iraq war." He left unsaid his key role in launching it and earlier complicity in the Gulf War as Joint Chiefs chairman under GHW Bush.

HR 568 and HR 4310 undermine diplomacy. They advance the ball closer to war. Readiness and threats make bombs away more likely. A false flag attack blamed on Iran could cinch it.

NATO Chief : No Rush for Exit From Afghanistan

NATO propaganda minister Anders continues to whore for Obama regime, appease Taliban with more U.S. taxpayer cash, promises to leave

PRESS TV
05/20/2012

NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has ruled out any exit strategy for the US-led troop presence in Afghanistan before a 2014 timetable.

NATO IS irrelevant, now that it caters to Obama regime
“There will be no rush for the exits (from Afghanistan),” Rasmussen said on Sunday during a news conference in Chicago, the city hosting a NATO summit, which is discussing the US-led war in Afghanistan, The Associated Press reported.

“Our goal, our strategy, our timetable remain unchanged,” he added.

Rasmussen was addressing the speculations over a decision by newly-elected French President Francois Hollande for early pull-out of French troops. Hollande recently said French combat troops would leave Afghanistan by the end of the year -- two years earlier than the timeline set for official withdrawal of US-led forces from Afghanistan.

Also on Saturday, Rasmussen said NATO troops would stay in Afghanistan beyond 2014, despite international calls for withdrawal of foreign troops from the war-torn country.

“The international presence in Afghanistan beyond the NATO-led training mission I would refer to the strategic partnership agreement that was recently approved between the United States and Afghanistan. It also includes some security provisions,” the Western military alliance’s chief told a NATO policy forum in Chicago.

Who will be the last U.S. service member to die in illegal war that is Afghanistan

The Strategic Partnership Agreement signed in early May by US President Barack Obama and his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai allowed the US troops to stay in the Asian country beyond 2014.

NATO’s new decision signals a big shift in the alliance’s policy compared to two years ago when NATO leaders agreed to withdraw foreign troops from Afghanistan by 2014.

The US-led invasion of Afghanistan was launched in 2001. The offensives removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity continues to rise across the country, despite the presence there of tens of thousands of US-led troops.

Afghan civilians continue to die on a daily basis

Speaking to Fox News Sunday earlier in the month, Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers said the Taliban militants had grown stronger in Afghanistan since the US increased the number of its troops in the violence-scarred country by 33,000 in 2010.

"I think we both say that what we found is the Taliban is stronger," Feinstein said.

Obama is hosting NATO's 25th summit with 28 heads of state and government of NATO's member nations in Chicago to discuss several issues, especially the war in Afghanistan.

Demo Against NATO War Machine Held in Chicago

Obama regime criminals, NATO only understand one thing - and they are not getting it in America, like Occupy where protesters think everything is one big party; dictators, corporate criminals have already won

PRESS TV
05/22/2012

Anti-NATO demonstrators have taken to the streets of Chicago again to protest against US wars and economic inequality, despite the heavy-handed police crackdown a day earlier.

U.S. sheep party it up at Chicago "NATO protest"
On the final day of the two-day summit of the Western military alliance, 200 to 300 demonstrators marched peacefully from Union Park to Boeing's corporate headquarters to denounce the company's involvement in building aircraft and missiles for the US military.

The protesters threw paper airplanes and staged a “die-in” in front of the multi-billion-dollar aerospace company and defense contractor, describing it as a "war machine that produces war machines."

"We started today out at Boeing's international headquarters. They've been making millions and millions of dollars off taxpayers," demonstration organizer Matthew McLouglin told the crowd.

"They've been making money harming people all over the world,” he added.

The protesters were surrounded by hundreds of police officers, but there were no reports of clashes or arrests.

Pathetic, coward American clowns pretending to protest NATO
After the die-ins, marchers, joined by anti-Wall Street demonstrators, went to President Barack Obama’s reelection headquarters to protest against the grim economic situation and excessive corporate influence in the country.

On Sunday, thousands of demonstrators protesting against the Western wars in Afghanistan and elsewhere marched through downtown Chicago in one of largest demonstrations the city has seen in years.

Many Occupy Wall Street movement members attended the demonstration as well as US war veterans, who voiced their opposition to Western governments’ warmongering policies.

Many veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, who said they were marching for peace, threw their medals into the street near the summit site in protest over the US-led wars.

Some of the protesters also called for the dissolution of the 63-year-old military alliance while others carried placards and posters reading "War equals Debt" and "NATO, Go Home."

The Chicago police arrested dozens of anti-war activists to quell the protests.

The 25th NATO summit began on Sunday and ended on Monday

West Australia Man Faces Death Penalty in Malaysia

Note to travellers, exiles, expats:  When in another country you must obey the laws - these people mean business when it comes to drugs

Canberra Times
05/22/2012

A West Australian man is facing the death penalty in Malaysia after being officially charged with drug trafficking.

Iran hangs their drug traffickers
During a court appearance in Kuala Lumpur on Monday, Perth man Dominic Jude Christopher Bird, 32, was charged with one count of drug trafficking and one count of drug use, after Malaysian prosecutors said the substance he was arrested with contained 167 grams of methamphetamine.

Bird had previously been "provisionally" charged under Section 39B of Malaysia's Dangerous Drugs Act, which carries a mandatory death penalty for the quantity of drug he is alleged to have possessed.

Bird was arrested by undercover officers on March 1 at a Kuala Lumpur coffee shop where, police allege, he was trying to sell them 228g of drugs.

A chemist's report tendered during Monday's court hearing in Kuala Lumpur confirmed the drug was about 73 per cent pure methamphetamine.

Under Malaysian law, a person convicted of possessing more than 50g of methamphetamine is declared a drug trafficker and faces a mandatory death sentence.

So does Malaysia
Bird's case will now be transferred to the Malaysian High Court, where he is expected to reappear in November.

Malaysian-based Australian lawyer Tania Scivetti, who is representing Bird, said the next court date had not been set, and her client had been remanded in custody.

She said Bird was in good spirits, despite the serious nature of his charges.

"It's tough, but he's doing all right," Ms Scivetti told AAP.

Ms Scivetti was unsure of the fate of two local men and a Filipino woman who were arrested at Bird's apartment during a search following his initial arrest.

Bird had previously complained of being assaulted in custody, a matter that was raised at his last court appearance on March 9.

China shoots their drug traffickers, steals their organs for sale on the open market and then bills the families of the dead for the bullets used to kill them

Malaysian police denied Bird had been assaulted when contacted by AAP at that time.

Bird's father, Clayton, flew from Perth to see his son shortly after his arrest.

The family has asked the media for privacy.

Malaysia has executed three Australians for drug offences.

Kevin Barlow and Brian Chambers were hanged in July 1986, followed by Michael McAuliffe in June 1993.

A 'Not So' Smiling Buddha

Buddha would be mightily angry at the world today

World News
By Dallas Darling
05/21/2012

Rejecting the horrific specter of stunned, terrified, blackened and bleeding and suffering survivors, hands and arms aloft with patches of roasted skin flapping in the wind, and that swarmed towards the estuaries of the Ota River which had already filled with bloated corpses,(1) this week in 1974 India "successfully" detonated the Smiling Buddha. The Smiling Buddha, with its ear-shattering roar, blinding flash, and immense column of dirt and smoke and vaporized bodies reaching skywards, was a fission bomb similar to the one just described and used on Hiroshima during World War II.

Buddha does not smile upon this abomination
A group of scientists, led by Dr. Raja Rmanna from the Bhabha Atomic Research Center, had gathered early that morning in the Great Indian Desert to witness the "Peaceful Nuclear Explosive," as it was formally called. Years earlier, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi started developing the twelve-kiloton nuclear bomb. With the Smiling Buddha, India became the sixth nation outside of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council to generate nuclear weapons and a possible nuclear war. Dr. Ramanna telephoned PM Gandhi telling her, "Madam, Buddha has finally smiled."

India announced it would not be building any more nuclear weapons but instead, it would be harnessing its nuclear potential for energy purposes. However, and due to the Bush administration's fearful reaction to Iran's peaceful intentions towards nuclear enrichment for civilian uses, India was encouraged to change its position. In 1998, it conducted five further tests. India has declared a moratorium on all future testing and maintains a rigorous "no first use" regarding nuclear weapons. Still, its nuclear arsenal is estimated at 200 nuclear warheads and it has refused to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Bedugul Hindu Temple, Bali

Buddha, an ancient Indian Religious philosopher and founder of Buddhism, means "enlightened one." It also entails the "Buddha nature" that exists eternally in a state of perfect harmony and is from time to time incarnated in human form. Buddha, who was dissatisfied with his comfortable but hollow life, was deeply transformed by three signs that personified the world's suffering and poor. He set out on a quest to understand and overcome the afflictions of existence and to pursue a life of simplicity. Eventually, he made the Great Renunciation, surrendering riches and power and rejecting a caste system.

Buddha encouraged humankind to seek liberation from life's inevitable suffering by revering the processes of nature, by living a virtuous life, and by aspiring to be one with "all of life" and the universe. This kind of enlightened awareness and compassionate understanding begins by acknowledging that life is suffering caused by ignorance and desire. Suffering ends when desire is overcome through right behavior. Right behavior consists of moderation and right understanding, right aspiration, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right endeavor, right mindfulness, and right contemplation.

Borobudur, Indonesia
It was reported that many Indians were overjoyed and proud of their government's achievement, that is, the violent explosion of The Smiling Buddha. Since China and Russia already had nuclear weaponry, the U.S. blessed the India's new weapons technology, calling on India to act responsibly in considering its export.(2) Meanwhile, Pakistan declared that "If India builds the bomb, we will eat grass or leaves, even go hungry, but we will get one of our own." Pakistan too, then, developed nuclear warheads, as did several other nations. Again, nuclear proliferation has often set the world on edge.

Nuclear weapons technologies are not peaceful or enlightened. They do not reflect right living or right contemplation. Neither are they harmonious solutions to international security problems, like Kashmir. They are a false solution, a myth in quest of a crises, a holocaust-like event that can produce immense suffering and the death and destruction of "all of life." A desire for security and prestige always has a steep price, one that the poor pay double for. Atomic weaponry is a sign of ignorance, weakness, fear, and distrust. Unlike Buddhism, it tries to make national "selfishness" permanent.

Some in India believed their nation should have taken the lead to eliminate all nuclear bombs rather than enter a costly and expensive arms race. But following China's nuclear test, some wrongly contemplated that "no responsible Indian leader could rule out the option of following suit."(3) Like other nuclear powers, a handful of individuals with little experience in international affairs pushed India and its people to justify the existence of manufacturing and maintaining a nuclear arsenal. Its nuclear power for civilian use has been extremely slow. Only 2% of India's power is supplied by nuclear reactors.(4)

Prambanan Temple complex, Indonesia

A State's decision to go nuclear is a monumental, indeed a "de-revolutionary" and de-enlightened path. It is always a leap in the dark with potentially massive consequences on every level of politics and policy, including profound effects In the areas of military strategy, diplomacy, economics, domestic institutions, and ethical normative self-image.(5) India's rich heritage and beautiful lands are now scarred with hundreds of nuclear weapons test sites, missile deployment and air bases, nuclear weapons research and production facilities, uranium mining areas, and nuclear waste dump sites.

Borobudur, Indonesia

Buddha believed experience consisted of five aspects of existence. One is rupa, or material existence. In none of them can an immutable, transcendent self be found. All physical phenomena are dependent on contingent causes, all are transitory. However, there is a lasting truth that is not fleeting: love is meritorious when it is selfless and unrewarded-a free gift of the enlightened to all fellow humans. Almost every nation can see Buddha's universal truth, but few practice it. Yet it is this aspiration, and not messianic, apocalyptic technologies, that has prevented mass extermination.

Cangkuang Hindu Temple, Garut, Indonesia

Desiring nuclear weaponry or escalating nuclear energies merely causes more mental, emotional, and physical suffering. (Recall Chernobyl, Three Mile Island, Fukushima, etc.. nuclear power plants.) Buddhism and other great enlightened religions and monotheistic faiths have initially always challenged narrow nationalism or self-preservation at any cost. But on that fateful day in what was left of Hiroshima, hoping to be reunited with their families, patients burned beyond recognition advertised their presence finger-painting their names in blood on the lobby walls.(6) And in 1974, there was no smiling Buddha.
