5th Estate Exclusive H5N1 Series Continues : More "Smoking Gun" E-mails; H5N1 Espionage in Indonesia - Kobe Virus Thief Akiko Makino, Dr. Nidom, Teridah Ernala, Kawaoka

Continuing communications between Dr. Nidom and H5N1 "novel" virus creator Teridah
Ernala Ginting, English translation, up next:  Ernala's reply to Dr. Nidom

This is the second e-mail segment in the continuing H5N1 "novel" series that outlines actual espionage committed against Indonesia and Indonesian authorities by Yoshihiro Kawaoka, Teridah Ernala Ginting, virus thief Akiko Makino and others.  It is a clear-cut case, as the below evidence proves and all involved need to be arrested and charged accordingly.  English translation by Imas Kurniawati followed by the original in Bahasa Indonesia.

Dr. Nidom
It now appears Dr. Nidom is panicking, attempting to "get the story straight" with Ernala, or attempting to get her to conform to the "party line" in order that they all tell the same story to Indonesian authorities, who were understandably quite angry at Makino's attempted theft of Indonesian H5N1 and her lies regarding the samples being for Wisconsin University, which helped her to escape immediate arrest and imprisonment on espionage charges.

The Indonesian customs authorities at Juanda International Airport should be commended for their vigilance and professionalism in catching Makino and preventing the theft of Indonesian H5N1 at the airport.

3.  I’m still trying to figure out where this collaboration between Unair and Kobe is heading to, especially these activities with AI. I have sent text message to Yamaoka asking about whether or not Makino was going to take another specimens from South Sulawesi (either from Hassanudin University or other source) when she was going back to Kobe. She never answered the said question but suggested that I asked it to Shinya sensei instead. My suspicions grew stronger that they were hiding something from me or us (University of Airlangga). What was the problem to open up about what they were going to do? To me, this is serious problem because that just goes to show that we don’t believe in each other. Shinya might have assumed that she has told me about it before. I recalled that back in April 2009, Shinya told me that he might be getting samples from other source. At that time I told him that it was OK [to get samples from other source] as long as it was still within the framework between Unair and Kobe. I even suggested that Dr. Hatta be pulled out of this collaboration. Otherwise, in my opinion, it was very unethical to work with other party while still bound to work with one party [for the same scope of work] from the same country without giving prior notice to the partner [with whom he was currently bound to work] within the existing framework. The Head of University of Airlangga has contacted the Head of University of Hassanudin to ask about the status of the specimen taken by Makino. Strangely, the responses from both the Head of University and Dr. Hatta were very different than what Shinya has explained to me as well as the letter from Head of TDC to the Head of University. It was also different than the explanation given by Yamaoka to the leaders of Unair. This was very, very strange!

Teridah Ernala Ginting
4)   When Shinya sensei and Makion visited Surabaya (for only 1 day), I have described our work plan with all BPPVs in Indonesia in order to get samples of Avian flu. Honestly, Makino’s incident has drawn some suspicions to us, people might have thought that I brought in Japanese people just to smuggle specimens out of Indonesia. It was a very bad impact. I sometimes regretted that Shinya didn’t take my advice to postpone bringing Makino in until our lab was done or when I was in Surabaya. Because of that careless act, my negotiations with other government institutions now have been put on the very bottom of the list. Makino was very persistent to take the samples (especially those from South Sulawesi) with her, so I assumed that Shinya and Makino’s 1-day visit to Surabaya was only to get the samples from Dr. Hatta to be brought in to Kobe. Because in the morning when Shinya went back to Kobe, the samples from Dr. Hatta arrived in Surabaya at the same day in the evening. If this was true, then what they (Yamaoka, Shinya and Makino) had been done is very disappointing.

5)      In one of Shinya’s emails, she told me she was not talking to me anymore and everything will be turned to Yoshi [Kawaoka] sensei. That was his right as a person who thought everything he does was right. I respected that. To me, in a partnership, everyone is equal, no one is better than the others. I assumed that Japanese culture was similar to ours, so when “betrayal” happened in a partnership, for whatever reason, it was considered unethical. Furthermore, one of the partners was not given a space to seek information. My conclusion was that  I had to have more patient in doing interaction with others. Although Shinya, Yamaoka and Makino have had embarrassed me to all stakeholders, government institutions, especially DepTan (Department of Agriculture). They all knew that I (on behalf of Uniair) had a good relationship with Kobe. With the incident, they would question what was going on with this partnership. As in the University of Airlangga, all eyes were on AI Team. Although we had no idea what material was taken, although Shinya said it was Human Leucosit RNA. That was just one box though, what about the other boxes? This is just so embarrassing. So I guess I have to work on myself to be more patient.

I felt this situation has been spreading everywhere, especially to you (Teridah Ernala Ginting) who has been pulled in to this mess. But I’m glad that if you didn’t get yourself involved in this. If this affects you though, I am deeply sorry. This is all my fault. I apologize for that, and thank you for reading this email.

GBU.

Regards,
Nidom

‘US armed Israel for Iran attack’

Obama war criminals following in Bush/Cheney footsteps in run-up to illegal Iraq, Afghanistan wars

PRESS TV

A New York Times article says the US has armed Israel in case the regime decides to launch an attack against Iran

The United States has provided Israel with the military technology and arms to aid Tel Aviv in a possible attack against Iran nuclear facilities, a prominent American journalist says.

“Arm the Syrian rebels! And, while we’re at it, give the Israelis the tools they need - bunker-busters, refueling aircraft - so that if they decide to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities, they’ll get it right the first time,” David Sanger wrote in The New York Times.

The article says although “the White House has been deliberately vague on what kind of technology it has shared with the Israelis,” it has been aimed at sabotaging Iran’s nuclear energy program which the West claims contains a covert military dimension by using “bombs, sanctions or covert action.”

Sanger says from the perspective of many US politicians, “Syria and Iran are hardly unrelated problems,” as nothing would undermine Iran’s influence in the region more than the overthrow of Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad.

According to the article, this approach stems from the fact that Americans are fed up with their government's warmongering around the globe and also from the White House talks of “nation-building at home.”

“There is something tempting about handing off weaponry to the rebels and the Israelis, wishing them good luck and reminding them to drop a line back to the White House if any of it works,” Sanger says.

Obama taking marching ordes from Netanyahu
Israeli officials have recently ramped up their war rhetoric, threatening Iran with military strikes in case the US-engineered sanctions against the country fail to force Tehran into abandoning its civilian nuclear energy program.

The United States, Israel and some of their allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear energy program, using this pretext to impose sanctions against Iran and threaten the country with military attack.

This is while the International Atomic Energy Agency has never found any evidence indicating that Tehran's nuclear energy program has been diverted towards nuclear weapons production.

Saudi-backed Bahrain forces injure anti-regime protesters

Saudi "royals" will never live down the killing of innocent Bahraini Arab Brothers

PRESS TV
02/27/2012

Several Bahraini protesters have been injured in an attack by security forces on a demonstration against the Al Khalifa regime in the village of Dair, Press TV reports.

Witnesses said on Sunday that regime forces fired tear gas and sound grenades to disperse the protesters in Dair, located on the northern coast of the Muharraq Island.

The demonstrators chanted slogans against the Manama regime and demanded the release of political prisoners.

Saudi-backed regime forces continue their violent crackdown on the demonstrations across the country.

The main Bahraini opposition group, al-Wefaq, has called on the protesters to press ahead with their demands through public demonstrations.

Bahraini protesters hold King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa responsible for the death of scores of people during the popular uprising in the country that began in February 2011.

Attack on Iran would be an act of criminal stupidity

Indeed it would and now we have a problem:  Obama, Clinton, Panetta, Netanyahu, their "gulf allies" are all beyond criminally stupid; they are criminally insane; US and Israeli leaders are talking themselves into a conflict that will make nuclear weapons for Tehran a certainty

Text of the United States 25th Amendment, Section 4:

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

This DOOFUS has finger on nuke button
Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

After a decade of calamitous western wars in the wider Middle East, the signs are becoming ever more ominous that we're heading for yet another. And, hard as it is to credit, the same discredited arguments used to justify the disasters of Iraq and Afghanistan — from weapons of mass destruction to sponsorship of terrorism and fundamentalist fanatics — are now being used to make the case for an attack on Iran.

Obama, Netanyahu believe they can survive war with Iran, Russia
War talk about Iran and its nuclear programme has been going on for so long it might be tempting to dismiss it as bluster. The messages coming from the US and Israeli governments in recent weeks have become increasingly contradictory and bewildering. Maybe it's all a game of bluff and psychological warfare.

But the mood music has become markedly more menacing. US defence secretary Leon Panetta has let it be known there is a "strong likelihood" Israel will attack Iran between April and June, even as US President Barack Obama says no Israeli decision has yet been taken. US officials told the Guardian recently they believed the administration would be left with "no alternative" but to attack Iran or watch Israel do so later this year.

Meanwhile, a US-Israeli stealth war is raging on the ground, including covert assassinations of scientists, cyber warfare and attacks on military and missile installations. And Britain and France have successfully dragooned the EU into ramping up sanctions on Iran's economic life-blood of oil exports as a build-up of western forces continues in the Gulf.

Bad enough as "leader" in Afghanistan, this clown now CIA director
When it was reported that British officials expected the Cameron government to take part in a US attack on Iran, it passed with barely a murmur. In a parliamentary debate on Iran on February 21, only six votes were mustered to press for the threat of attack on Iran to be withdrawn. The London Times claimed it to be "beyond doubt" that Iran "is trying to develop a nuclear weapon", even though neither the US nor IAEA has managed to prove any such thing.

And even when US and British leaders have called for Israeli restraint, as British Foreign Secretary William Hague and US joint chiefs of staff chairman Martin Dempsey have done in recent days, the issue is only one of timing. Military force would, they say, be "premature" and unwise "at this point".

If an attack is launched by Israel or the US, it would not just be an act of criminal aggression, but of wanton destructive stupidity. As the British defence establishment's Royal United Services Institute director, Michael Clarke, points out, such an attack would be entirely illegal: "There is no basis in international law for preventative, rather than pre-emptive, war."

Iranian military not Iraqi republican guards, will probably use gas
It would also be guaranteed to trigger a regional conflagration with uncontrollable global consequences. Iran could be expected to retaliate against Israel, the US and its allies, both directly and indirectly, and block the fifth of international oil supplies shipped through the Strait of Hormuz. The trail of death, destruction and economic havoc would be awesome.

But while in the case of Iraq an attack was launched over weapons of mass destruction that didn't in fact exist, the US isn't even claiming that Iran is attempting to build a bomb. "Are they trying to develop a nuclear weapon? No," Panetta said bluntly last month. Israeli intelligence is said to be of the same view. Unlike Israel itself, which has had nuclear weapons for decades, it believes the Iranian leadership has taken no decision to go nuclear.

The issue, instead, is whether Iran — which has always insisted it doesn't want nuclear weapons — might develop the capability to build them. So Iran, surrounded by US bases, occupation troops and nuclear-armed states, is threatened with a military onslaught because of a future potential the aggressor states have long ago turned into reality.

Freedom of action

Such a capability wouldn't be the "existential threat" Israeli politicians have claimed. It might, of course, blunt Israel's strategic edge. Or as Matthew Kroenig, the US defence secretary's special adviser until last summer, spelled it out recently, a nuclear Iran "would immediately limit US freedom of action in the Middle East". Which gets to the heart of the matter: freedom of action in the Middle East is the prerogative of the US and its allies, not independent Middle Eastern states.

A lot more of this on the way if Americans allow Iran attack
But if the western powers and Israel are really concerned about the threat of a nuclear arms race in the region, they could throw their weight behind negotiations to achieve a nuclear-free Middle East — which most Israelis favour.

Obama has every interest in heading off an Israeli attack on Iran that would draw in the US, until at least until after the presidential election. But as the sabre-rattling, crippling sanctions and covert attacks increase, so do the risks of stumbling into an accidental war. A military confrontation in the Strait of Hormuz in the next two or three months is now "quite likely", Clarke believes. "Western policy towards Iran is a slow-motion road accident," he says.

There is another factor driving towards war. The more they talk up the supposed threat from Iran's nuclear programme and the military option, the more US and Israeli leaders risk undermining their own credibility if they end up doing nothing. A potentially catastrophic attack isn't inevitable, but it's becoming perilously more likely all the time.
