Greece and the World's New Spartan Conscripts

Greece has had it thanks to bankers and their government stooges, needs to get out of EU while they can before Greek People take matters completely into their own hands sparking bloodbath; vulture bankers circle the prostrate bodies of Germany and France, the last two EU countries standing - albeit shakily -  in their failed experiment as whole of Europe realizes they have been taken to cleaners

Greece's up-and-down seesaw battle over its debt deal and severe austerity laws conjures up an ancient past when children were considered to be the property of the Spartan state. Like Chole Hadjimatheou reported from Athens in the BBC World Service, due to years of unemployment and a lack of food and shelter some families have become so desperate that they are giving up the most precious thing of all - their children.(1)

Greek children now being abandoned by parents who can't feed them
Ancient Spartan custom demanded that the father bring the child before a jury of elders who would examine the infant. If the child was considered healthy and strong, the elders would give orders for the infant's rearing and assigned him a share of land for his maintenance. If the infant was unfit or disabled, they ordered the infant exposed and destroyed. Sadly, infanticide can also be implemented through austere economic systems.

Over the last year, parents have left hundreds of children with schools, churches and charity organizations. Teachers and directors have found heartrending and apologetic notes from unemployed and homeless parents saying they will not be picking up their children because they cannot afford to care for them. Priests have been left with children and babies-9 months old-on church doorsteps, some of whom bear signs of malnutrition.

Spartan children also experienced strict and uniformed austerity measures. Long stints in the cold and wild, where they went barefoot and naked, and a kind of gruel for food made their bodies tough and hard. Education emphasized mainly perfect obedience and physical exercises and drills, including quarrels, fist fights and enduring pain to persevere in battle. They were always reminded that neglecting their duties would result in harsh punishment.

Greek Spartan boys obviously better fed than today
Greece's harsh economic laws, along with greedy global investors and bankers, have ravaged the land with high rates of joblessness, homelessness and increasing malnutrition. Children born in privileged homes or to wealthy officials have more opportunities and a better lifestyle than those born into poverty, who are abandoned and left naked and wandering in austerity forests where they scavenge and fight for little food and power.

Spartan commanders would teach their recruits to steal, which they had to do cunningly and boldly, using deception. If they were caught, they were punished by being whipped and deprived of food. In one recorded instance, they were so serious as to not being caught that one youth, having stolen a fox and hidden it under his coat, allowed it to tear out his very bowels with its claws and teeth rather than betray his death.(2)

Today's Spartan generals are international corporations, like Vega Asset Management, Goldman Sachs, and Marathon Asset Management, and the Eurozone and International Monetary Fund (IMF) that imposes their brand of economic liberalism. They have made billions of dollars through loans, privatizing public works programs, raiding pensions, and forcing bankruptcies. Greece is continually threatened with lawsuits.

Greek People  are taking no more shit or "austerity measures" from their government

This kind of financial dishonesty and economically imposed infanticide, or "survival of only the wealthy and powerful," has produced loneliness and anger. Unable to cope with unemployment and homelessness and a lack of food, some parents have turned to suicide. Neglect, abandonment, guilt and pain are passed on to children whom become property of the state and international corporations. It will merely produce more resentment.

What is it going to take:  Protester gesticulates at Greek cops
Greek Prime Minister Lucas Papademos is drumming up fear and hysteria by warning if the Eurozone and IMF austerity measures are not accepted, ones that include more wage and pension and job cuts, then Greece will have to default on its loans and there will be "uncontrolled economic chaos and social explosion." But wealthy and disconnected and short-sighted politicians have already defaulted on an entire generation of youth.

Greece's new austerity measures, which will lower minimum wage by 20%, will produce more Spartan conscripts, resulting in more anger and bitterness and growing hostility. Expect more abandoned child-like conscripts to turn against their Spartan commanders. Expect more violent and general strikes that challenge dictatorial economics. Schooling the young in draconian economics will create draconian revolts and uprisings.

Final confrontation underway in Greece:  the classic battle between rich and poor

Credit defaults are primarily the fault of greedy financiers and oppressive organizations. It is time the domino effect falls backwards and de-globalizes financial terrorists and their terror-like economic systems. There is a specter haunting Greece and much of the World. It is not only the specter of loan defaults, but of millions of young conscripts, ones that have been branded by corporate states and wealthy elites, and then abandoned.

These young conscripts have been left on the doorsteps of all nations in the World. When they come of age, they will knock on doors and demand economic justice and political equality. The ancient Spartans bathed their infants in wine, rather than water, to test and toughen their bodies. Government officials, backed by wealthy financiers, had better start bathing and schooling "children of the state" in economic and political fairness.

We have already discussed in the first part of this analysis how the American geography dooms whoever controls the territory to being a global power, but there are a number of other outcomes that shape what that power will be like. The first and most critical is the impact of that geography on the American mindset.
