The next article in the continuing 5th Estate exclusive series on H5N1 weaponization at secret Kobe University lab by Yoshihiro Kawaoka and his PhD student Teridah Ernala Ginting, the subsequent intentional release of the virus into Southeast Asian countries

This young Indonesian "
scientist"
through the years of our contact revealed to me the inner-workings of her "secret" lab at Kobe University and a new BSL-4 in Tokyo that was also working on the recombination of the H5N1 and H1N1 viruses, among others. Kobe University does NOT officially have a BSL-4 lab, and yet this microbiologist was assigned by her professor Yoshihiro Kawaoka to work on recombinant H5N1 and H1N1 in a "
secret"
(her words) lab at their facility. How and why was this allowed to transpire? When will the universities of Kobe, Tokyo and Wisconsin USA administrators and peers of Kawaoka initiate an investigation into his illegal theft/weaponization of an Indonesia strain of the H5N1 virus in a university secret lab?

H5N1 |
I have kept my association with Teridah Ernala secret for years, however now that this individual has gone over to the "dark side," I have decided to reveal everything we discussed in the hope it may stop this ghastly, man-made weaponized virus that is capable of killing millions of innocent people across the world.
Kawaoka and his Kobe lab virologists preyed upon a young, incredibly naive and inexperienced Indonesian virologist to do their dirty-work, with the value added feature of being able to blame Indonesia for the new pandemic of the weaponized virus. Attempts to steal the virus by Dr. Kyoko Shinya and carrier Dr. Akiko Makino (also an ebola virus researcher) were detected by Indonesian authorities and Makino was released after lying to them about the nature/origin of the samples she was attempting to steal from Surabaya.
There may be a few repeats, however they are worth noting again as they comprise separate keys to the entire story which is now unfolding and being watched nervously by the world at large. The e-mails will not be corrected for spelling, punctuation or format - and are republished in the original.
"After the incident, my professor became very nice at me. Of course, because they know that I know what's going on exactly. Few days later, they asked me to sign a document, mentioning that I'm a researcher belonging to my supervisor, and every matters between my supervisor and I should be kept confidential. I didn't have any reason not to sign it..." E-mail excerpt from Kobe University virologist Terdah Ernala Ginting to investigator Robert S. Finnegan.

Hello Bob,
I'm fine thank you. I have returned to the work again.. Have a trouble here. My supervisor tried to smuggle human samples from Indonesia. The carrier got caught in Surabaya airport without any supporting documents. They marked the sample tubes with 'zoonotic material', but actually it was human RNA.
I wanna give up this project if they keep doing illegal things.
Somehow I agree with Obama's statement, about swine flu vacination. People should choose whether they want to be vaccinated or not. Vaccine has lot of side effect, lot of death reported because of vaccination. Especially, this vaccine is a new thing, lack of tests and trials. If I had a kid, I wouldn't give my kid swine flu vaccination.
Someone can also spread disease by mandatory vaccination. If it happens, this can eliminate US population (our emphasis).

Hey Bob,
I hope XXXXX is OK, tell XXX to take care and have enough rest. The virus has been dominating worldwide, so at least the survivors will get immunity.
Species jumping is common for flu virus. The novel H1N1 is purely human virus, it's not derived from any species. I say this because no animal had this virus before. But it's able to jump from human to pigs, and human to birds. Not reversible.
Flu virus can jump to other host when the other host species has similar receptor type. The virus can adapt to new host species after several passage. For example, if we infect human virus into egg, and we collect the egg liquid then infect it again into egg, and so on. After several infection to egg, the human virus will be effectively able to infect egg and birds.
So the virus will become bird virus.
Direct jump, without several trial for adaptation can also occur. I remember the horse flu virus, jumped directly to dogs and transfer the complete genome to dogs.
In the case of H5N1 (bird flu), now it's still transmissible effectively among birds. In some cases, the virus can infect human. That virus, the one that can infect human, has special amino acid properties. That's why, we're the researchers, are trying to check bird flu virus sequences continuesly. We're trying to monitor if the recent bird flu isolate has the properties to infect human.
As I told you before, the novel H1N1 is likely similar to bird virus, not swine virus. Because it has lot of properties similar to bird virus. But I don't know how it came to human population.
From the first time it emerged, the virus has been widely distributed. I don't know how it spread at the first time. But now, whole world is affected. This virus is highly transmissible among human, so simply the virus is spreading by human to human contact. I won't blame any animal here.
Redacted – personal.

Bob,
the cases have been reduced all over the world. Vaccine has been distributed (even though I don't take it). Drugs still working, even though some oseltamivir resistances reported.
Researcher is still following the trend of the virus. I'm sure to let you know when I smell something bad.
My biggest concern is still bird flu... Your article about H5N1 always makes sense for me.

Hey Robert,
Do you know anything about GSK (Glaxo-Smith Kline), a pharmaceutical industry.
They won a tender to produce hundreds millions of swine flu vaccine for Europe countries. Now they're going to occupy the drugs market too..
They're the richest company now I think.
Ida
PS: you better read the mail from the bottom. You will see how they're desperately want samples.
For your information:
Yoshi sensei - Yoshihiro Kawaoka, my professor. The authority. Everything done by these following two names are for his sake.
Shinya - Kyoko Shinya, my associate professor also my boss in this project. She's always using me and telling lot of lies.
Makino - Akiko Makino, new assistant professor from Tokyo Univ. She carried the illegal samples from Indonesia.
Yamaoka - Masaoki Yamaoka, a Japanese researcher assigned in Indonesia.
Dr Hatta - Shinya got the human samples from dr Hatta, but claimed it as dr Nidom's samples at Surabaya airport.

Hi Robert,
That's a difficult question.
You asked me if H1N1 is a US lab creation. I'd say that it's probably lab strain, but I don't know who's lab :).
For me, the novel H1N1 is simply a hand made. I have read many articles and papers, how people trying to find the origin of the virus. Nothing makes sense for me. It will take hundred of years to create such completely new strain virus [in nature.]
Just hand me some RNAs, I can make it in just 1-2 months. :) (Our emphasis).

Hi Robert,
Thank you for the article.
It seems the scientist couldn't find any prove that the swine flu virus derived from animal. They couldn't find any animal having this virus.
It's interesting isn't it? Where did it come from then?

Robert,
I don't have anything to edit yet, until my contributors send me the news sources. No news could mean no case, so it's a good thing
. Yeah I'm still working for the project of Kobe Univ, at least until I finish my PhD course. After that I may look for other oportunities. My professor wants me to stay with their work, but lot of things happenned making me wanna leave.
About your questions, they're pretty tricky. Please give me a couple days to answer.
Ida
At this point, here are comments from other investigators working on this case to the Publisher:
From anonymous American investigator, "Sam:"
“She needs to be very careful if she quits -- she has the goods on these people. I think Dr. Kawaoka is a key player in this H1N1 pandemic. They caught that dude from Ivory Coast trying to smuggle samples across the US-Canadian border and he worked at the lab in Winnipeg where Kawaoka has worked. The Ivorian's route to NIH in Washington would have taken him right through Madison, Wisconsin.”

Ternala, Kawaoka, Kyoko Shinya, H5N1 virus thief Akiko Makino |
Another anonymous American investigator, "Jason:"
I'm going over all the Japan stuff tonight. I did skim over 2 or 3 of the documents, and it is important shit.
[N]o shortage of mad scientists in this fucking world.
Were you aware that more than a few of these dead microbiologists (I think about 7 of 'em) that have been disappearing spoke out against Taubenberger's work on the 1918 virus? His father is Heinz-Karl Taubenberger, a german married to an [A]merican woman and he was stationed at Landstuhl, Germany in 1961, Jeffrey Taubenberger was born at Landstuhl in 61.

Hmm..
They have samples actually, but no recent human samples since MOH banned the material transfer to other countries. That's why this is very illegal.. (our emphasis).
I told everything I know to the head of avian influenza lab in TDC Airlangga University, dr Nidom.
After this incident, the relationship between my professor and dr Nidom went bad. When [they] got caught, the carrier mentioned that the samples were belonging of Airlangga University, but actually no one knew about that.
Now, Indonesia govt blames dr Nidom as the sample 'dealer', condition is not really good for him now. Inn Japan, my professor's telling everyone that dr Nidom tried to trap them at the airport.
I heard lot of things in Japan contrary to what I heard from dr Nidom. Because of this we're exchanging information through mail. My professor doesn't know that we're mailing to each other, we're keeping things this way.
After the incident, my professor became very nice at me. Of course, because they know that I know what's going on exactly. Few days later, they asked me to sign a document, mentioning that I'm a researcher belonging to my supervisor, and every matters between my supervisor and I should be kept confidential. I didn't have any reason not to sign it.
If you want to, I will forward the conversation between Dr Nidom and I. It's in Bahasa Indonesia, but that's the actual story. It's a very long mail, maybe it's pretty difficult for you to understand the whole story but just keep it for your reference.

The University of Kobe has not returned repeated requests for comment and has been offered access to all documentation should they wish to perform an internal investigation.
The
5th Estate series on H5N1 illegal recombination/intentional release will continue.
