Sarkozy tells Obama Netanyahu is a "liar"

He also has his finger on the button of a nuke arsenal

By Yan Le Guernigou

PARIS (Reuters) -

French President Nicolas Sarkozy branded Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "a liar" in a private conversation with U.S. President Barack Obama that was accidentally broadcast to journalists during last week's G20 summit in Cannes.

"I cannot bear Netanyahu, he's a liar," Sarkozy told Obama, unaware that the microphones in their meeting room had been switched on, enabling reporters in a separate location to listen in to a simultaneous translation.

Obama and "Boy Sarkozy"
"You're fed up with him, but I have to deal with him even more often than you," Obama replied, according to the French interpreter.

The technical gaffe is likely to cause great embarrassment to all three leaders as they look to work together to intensify international pressure on Iran over its nuclear ambitions.

The conversation was not initially reported by the small group of journalists who overheard it because it was considered private and off-the-record. But the comments have since emerged on French websites and can be confirmed by Reuters.

Obama's apparent failure to defend Netanyahu is likely to be leapt on by his Republican foes, who are looking to unseat him in next year's presidential election and have portrayed him as hostile to Israel, Washington's closest ally in the region.

Pushing Netanyahu risks alienating Israel's strong base of support among the U.S. public and in Congress.

    Netanyahu's office declined immediate comment.

Obama and Netanyahu have had a rocky relationship as U.S. efforts to broker a Middle East peace deal have foundered, with the U.S. president openly criticizing Jewish settlement building in the occupied Palestinian territories.

It was unclear why exactly Sarkozy had criticized Netanyahu. However, European diplomats have largely blamed Israel for the breakdown in peace talks and have expressed anger over Netanyahu's approval of large-scale settlement building.

During their bilateral meeting on November 3, on the sidelines of the Cannes summit, Obama criticized Sarkozy's surprise decision to vote in favor of a Palestinian request for membership of the U.N. cultural heritage agency UNESCO.

"I didn't appreciate your way of presenting things over the Palestinian membership of UNESCO. It weakened us. You should have consulted us, but that is now behind us," Obama was quoted as saying.

The October 31 UNESCO vote marked a success for the Palestinians in their broader thrust for recognition as a sovereign state in the U.N. system -- a unilateral initiative fiercely opposed by Israel and the United States.

As a result of the vote, Washington was compelled to halt its funding for UNESCO under a 1990s law that prohibits Washington from giving money to any U.N. body that grants membership to groups that do not have full, legal statehood.

Obama told Sarkozy that he was worried about the impact if Washington had to pull funding from other U.N. bodies such as the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organisation and the IAEA nuclear watchdog if the Palestinians gained membership there.

"You have to pass the message along to the Palestinians that they must stop this immediately," Obama said.

The day the conversation took place, the Palestinians announced that they would not seek membership of any other U.N. agency.

Sarkozy confirmed that France would not take any unilateral decisions when the U.N. Security Council discusses a Palestinian membership request, a debate expected later this month.

"I am with you on that," Obama replied.

Assad Burns the Arab League

Assad allows himself to be sucked into U.S., NATO propaganda war; why the latest Arab proposal fell flat

The Majalla
By Andrew Bowen

Last Wednesday, an Arab League delegation, headed by Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad, visited Bashar Al-Assad in Damascus in the latest attempt to bring an end to the domestic crisis embroiling the Syrian state. Calling for Assad to end the violence and implement reforms, the ceremonial meeting ended with few flourishes except for a vague commitment to reform by President Assad.

But, these conciliatory words soon rang hollow on Friday when Syrian forces opened fire killing dozens of protestors.  This prompted Sheikh Hamad to deliver a sharp message to the Syrian Foreign Minister calling for the violence to end. Meeting this past Sunday, the Arab League, which has become the latest interlocutor with the Assad regime, discussed the violence in Syria and the delegation’s meeting with Assad. Fearing that the violence in Syria could spill over in the region, the Arab League, which has made a few attempts before to no avail, agreed to a “new proposal” to offer Assad.

Like Gadhafi, Assad will be dangerous when cornered
The Arab League handed this proposal to Damascus today, expecting that a response will be delivered by the time the League met on Wednesday. While the proposal has not been publicly released, it likely calls for Assad to implement constitutional reforms, cease all violence, and to set dates for a presidential election. These proposals have been made before, and Assad has agreed in part to them, but Assad has consistently followed through with them in name only.

This is clearly illustrated by the reports by the Syrian Arab News Agency that a committee has begun work on constitutional reforms. It’s largely inconceivable that any committee of this nature could have any legitimacy without dialogue with the opposition, but Assad has shown that beyond the façade, a darker truth always lurks.

Speaking with The Majalla, Dr. Radwan Ziadeh, the Director of the Damascus Centre for Human Rights, stressed, “Whatever Assad says in the meeting, there will be no progress with the Arab League.” Ziadeh concludes that even if the Assad regime were to agree to the Arab League’s proposals, its unlikely Assad will follow through on them in action on Syria’s streets.

Assad and Damascus could spit and hit Tel Aviv, Jerusalem
The Arab League is not naïve, and Assad’s willingness to talk but refusal to act is not a new occurrence. Still, the Arab League hopes that the added urgency it has put to this proposal and the threat of further isolation in the Arab world, following the loss of Turkey as an ally, will move the President to act.

Such hopes are wishful thinking and the Arab League, similar to Turkey, will discover that at the moment, Bashar al-Assad and his family will fight for their survival before implementing meaningful reforms. The League’s meeting on Wednesday will likely deliver no substantive actions against the regime beyond further condemnations. None of the League members are prepared to support another Libya style operation in Syria. Frankly, the stakes are too high and there is no strong support in the West.

Syrian Forces combat ready, partially deployed
As a result, the Arab League will be likely left with these unsettling words from the consistently defiant regime in Damascus. In a recent interview with Andrew Gilligan on Sunday in The Daily Telegraph, Assad warned, “Syria is the hub now in this region. It is the fault line, and if you play with the ground you will cause an earthquake … Do you want to see another Afghanistan, or tens of Afghanistans?” Adding further hysteria along the lines of the late Colonial Qadhafi, Assad threatened, “Any problem in Syria will burn the whole region. If the plan is to divide Syria, that is to divide the whole region.”

Progressive Avenues

November 7, 2011

By Luke Hiken and Marti Hiken

Veteran’s Day is not a celebration to honor those who have served in our armed forces; it is a glorification of this country’s ongoing slaughter of defenseless people throughout the world.

November 11th is Veteran’s Day. We have a lot to celebrate. We now have military personnel in every continent on the planet, a military that eats up 70% of the American economy, and a track record of having slaughtered over one million unarmed people in the last 10 years alone. We have so modernized our homemade weapons of mass destruction that we can kill civilians throughout the world with unmanned drones, hired mercenaries, and an all-volunteer, “professional” army without having to worry about anyone meaningfully fighting back. No other nation has resources that can match what is available to American troops and mercenaries.

It is for that reason that we are able to kill with impunity. We take on the poorest, most defenseless nations we can find: Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia and other African and Asian countries. The fact that most of the places we invade with our special forces, technology, torture techniques, and renditions, do not have air forces or a navy, makes these one-sided slaughters even “safer” for our brave soldiers throughout the world. It also keeps the 99% from worrying about the caskets coming home.

We use depleted uranium on the city of Fallujah, Agent Orange on the jungles of Viet Nam, and torture everywhere, including the U.S. itself, without significant repercussions or retaliation. We are immunized against the anger that is building up against us throughout the world. The only collateral damage we suffer is from those returning soldiers who are driven insane by our uncontrolled cruelty.

Manufactured Patriotism

On Veteran’s Day, we will witness marches, parades, and military regalia throughout the nation. Sporting events will provide the background for grand speeches directed towards the “heroes” that are protecting us in a hostile world. We will see signs declaring that we should “support our troops” and sing accolades to these brave warriors. We will hear and read about the close bonds built among soldiers who fight battles and depend upon each other for protection against hostile forces; and, about our “brilliant” generals. The generals are so brazen and arrogant that our military policies are leaked to the media before the President and Hillary can even announce them.

Once again a powerful nation is slaughtering countless defenseless people with no legitimate justification. Since the Viet Nam War the U.S. government has waged a propaganda campaign to insulate GIs from having to deal with the consequences of their international war crimes. In World War II, at least Germany and Japan took the battle to the most powerful capitalist countries in the world before they were righteously defeated.

The United States, on the other hand, takes on peasant populations as if they were well-armed wealthy nations. Our preference is to attack countries like Viet Nam, Cuba, Afghanistan and Somalia: places that can do little more than defend their own poverty-stricken populations from air assaults directed by tyrants 5000 – 10,000 miles from the war zones.

It is one thing to recognize the victimization of our soldiers who return from these one-sided rampages as they suffer from PTSD, or were wounded (too frequently by our own troops). The suicide rate among those returning from our Christian Crusades throughout the Middle East is the highest in recorded history. But to honor them, as if they were fighting a fair battle, against a worthy enemy is not only pure hypocrisy, but pandering to the basest sort of manufactured patriotism.

The 1% who have stolen America’s wealth and seek to extend our form of “democracy” over the remainder of the world’s people, are the only ones who benefit from our aggressive sorties into other continents. The mercenaries, Pentagon bureaucrats, military contractors, and pathetic fools who serve in and with our armed forces, because there are no other jobs available in this economy, recognize the absurdity of calling these murderous conflicts “wars.” Wars are fought with those who can fight back. Germany’s slaughter of the Jews was not a “war,” it was murder, plain and simple --likewise with the conduct of our troops in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and now, Africa.

The only reason that we do not have full-scale wars in many parts of the world is simply because many nations have militaries that can fight back. This is the reason we use assassination, security programs, coups and bribery, to dominate and manipulate the governments of those nations.

As we impose our destructive values on peoples throughout the world, nations are increasingly rejecting the U.S.’s claims to freedom and justice, and recognizing the bald capitalist vultures we have become. Our “brave” troops might reign victorious in their slaughter of defenseless populations, but decent people who witness their actions will never respect them as anything but thugs. Good intentions are not a substitute for appropriate behavior. Nor is it acceptable to believe that “obeying orders” is a valid justification for murdering defenseless people.

If one truly wants to “support our troops” on this Veterans’ Day the best recommendation is to keep them as far as possible from the U.S. military, and give them a meaningful education instead of manufactured, patriotic rhetoric. Teach them who their real enemies are – the Wall Street gangsters and the sycophant politicians who protect and profit from these unjustified, illegal wars.

Western Democracy: A Farce And A Sham

Real U.S. government already known; not democracy but rather dictatorship, kleptocracy

Global Research
By Dr. Paul Craig Roberts

Every day that passes adds to the fraudulent image of what is called Western democracy.

Consider that the entire Western world is outraged that the Greek prime minister announced that he is going to permit the Greek people to decide their own fate instead of having it decided for them by a handful of banksters, politicians, and bureaucrats living it up at taxpayer expense at “talks” in the French resort of Cannes on the Mediterranean.

You can't eat democracy
The Greek economy is facing its fourth year of decline and lacks the revenues to service its national debt held by private European banks. The banks don’t want to lose any money, so a handful of power brokers reached an agreement with representatives of the Greek government to write off some of the debt in exchange for EU capital subsidies to be financed by inflicting severe austerity on the Greek population. Wages, salaries, pensions and medical care are being cut while the rate of unemployment rises to depression levels. Government employees are laid off. Valuable public properties are to be sold to private parties for pennies on the dollar. In short, Greece is to be looted.

Large numbers of Greeks have been in the streets protesting the austerity policy and have reached the point of anger of throwing Molotov cocktails at the police. Greece is disintegrating politically. The Greek people sense that the EU “bailout” is not bailing out Greece. It is bailing out the French, Dutch, and German banks at the expense of the Greek people.

The Greek prime minister, watching his party’s support and power crumble, announced that he would let the people decide in a referendum. After all, allegedly that’s what democracies do. But it turns out that “we have freedom and democracy” is not supposed to be taken literally. It is merely a propagandistic slogan behind which people are ruled through back-room deals decided by powerful private interests.

The Greek prime minister’s announcement that he would put the back-room bailout deal to a referendum shocked the EU hierarchy, Washington, and investors. Who does this Greek guy think he is permitting the people, who bear the cost of the deal, to have a say in it? Who let this Greek guy out of his cage? This is not the way democracies are ruled.

The EU power brokers are outraged over the Greek prime minister’s departure from normal procedure. But the Greek PM is relying on the Greek people to approve the deal, and not without reason.

The Greek people have been brainwashed for decades as to the importance of “being part of Europe.” That means being a member of the European Union. When the Greeks realize that voting down the bailout of the banksters means being thrown out of the European Union, which is what they will learn between now and the referendum, they will vote for the back room deal.

Polls already indicate this. A poll for a Greek newspaper indicates that whereas 46% oppose the bailout, 70% favor staying in the EU, which the Greeks see as a life or death issue.

If this poll is a reliable indicator, the Greek PM has made a brilliant political decision. The Greek people will vote in favor of what they have been protesting violently in the streets. As the Greek people will do themselves in, the politicians are off the hook. This is the bet that the Greek PM has placed.

Whatever the outcome, keep in mind that the entire Western political and investor world was shocked that a politician, instead of simply imposing a back room deal, said he would let the people decide. Letting the people decide is a no-no in Western democracies.

If you need more evidence of this mythical creature called “Western democracy,” consider that Western governments are no longer accountable to law. Contrast, for example, the sexual harassment charges that are plaguing US presidential candidate Herman Cain’s campaign with the pass given to high government officials who clearly violated statutory law.

What follows is not a defense of Cain. I take no position on the charges. The real point is different. In America the only thing that can ruin a politician is his interest in sex. A politician, for example, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, B. Omama, cannot be ruined by violating United States and international law or by treating the US Constitution as a “mere scrap of paper.” Bush and Cheney can take America to wars based entirely on lies and orchestrated deceptions. They can commit war crimes, murdering large numbers of civilians in the cause of “the war on terror,” itself a hoax. They can violate US and international laws against torture simply “because the president said so.” They can throw away habeas corpus, the constitutional requirement that a person cannot be imprisoned without evidence presented to a court. They can deny the right to an attorney. They can violate the law and spy on Americans without obtaining warrants. They can send due process to hell. In fact, they can do whatever they want just like Hitler’s Gestapo and Stalin’s secret police. But if they show undue interest in a woman or proposition a woman, they are dead meat.

Very few commentators have said a word about this. The House of Representatives did not impeach President Bill Clinton for his war crimes against Serbia. They impeached him for lying about a sexual affair with a White House intern. The US Senate, which had too many sexual affairs of its own to defend, didn’t bother to try to convict.

This is Amerika today. A president without any authority whatsoever, not in law and certainly not in the Constitution, can assassinate US citizens based on nothing except an assertion that they are a “threat.” No evidence is required. No conviction. No presentation of evidence in any court. Just a murder. That is now permissible to the Amerikan president. But let him try to get a woman who is not his wife into bed, and he is a cooked goose.

In Amerika there is no such thing any longer as torture; there is only “enhanced interrogation.” A mere word change has eliminated the crime. So torture is permissible.

In Amerika today, or in the UK and the EU, anyone who tells the truth is a “threat.” Julian Assange of Wikileaks, who made public information leaked to him by US government sources horrified by the criminal actions of the United States government, is now, as a result of Amerikan pressure on UK courts, being turned over to Sweden, which, for favors from the “world’s only superpower,” will turn him over to the US regardless of law to be prosecuted on trumped-up charges.

Western “civilization” is totally corrupted by American money. There is no integrity anywhere. For a decade Washington has been murdering women, children, village elders, and journalists in the name of the hoax “war on terror.”

What terror does the world actually see? The world sees the terror that Israel, protected by Washington, inflicts on the Palestinians. The world sees the terror that the US inflicts on Serbia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, Libya, Latin America and now Africa, with Syria, Lebanon, and Iran waiting in the wings. The “war on terror” is nothing but an orchestrated invented excuse for Amerika-Israel to achieve hegemony while enriching their armaments industries.

In Greece, at least the PM committed to giving the people a say in their fate. In America the people have no voice whatsoever. The sheeple are content to be protected by “security,” porno-scanners, warrantless wiretapping, indefinite detention, and sexual groping. To carry on the hoax “war on terror,” the US government has elevated itself above the law.

The American effort to achieve accountability to law, the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement, if not shut down by cold weather, ice, and snow, is likely to be shut down by police violence. One riot begun by provocateurs is all it takes to transform protesters into “domestic extremists,” the number one concern of Homeland Security. The presstitute media will make the case against the rioters, and the sheeple will buy it.

The police have been militarized by Washington. Community police forces no longer represent the local public that pays their salaries. Local police represent Washington’s war against America.

American citizens are all suspects. Anyone who goes through airport security knows this. The only law that the US government obeys is not even a law. It is a bureaucratic regulation that prevents, even in dire wartime, any profiling of suspects by ethnicity or country of origin.

Consequently, all native born, flag-waving, American super-patriots are suspects when they board commercial airliners. Americans who have a life time of security clearances are subject to being porno-scanned or sexually groped. Airport Security cannot tell a “terrorist” from a CIA analyst, a Marine general or a US Senator.

Well-connected members of the ruling elite, such as Michael Chertoff, can become rich from selling the porno-scanners to taxpayers in order “to protect the public from terrorists.”

The only terrorists Americans will ever experience are those funded by their own tax dollars within their “own” government. A people incapable of perceiving its real peril has no chance of surviving. America might be a military superpower, but it no longer exists as a free country with accountable government and a rule of law.

Addendum: The Greek prime minister has been forced to withdraw the referendum on the bailout that he promised the Greek people. Europe’s rulers made it clear to the Greek PM that democracy has no role to play in the decision. Greece was told to vote the deal that was handed to you or Greece is out of the EU.

The chastened PM warned the Greek parliament that the only way to remain in the EU is to submit to the dictate.

Russia warns against any military strike on Iran

Like child's game of connecting dots; Russia does exactly what expected to, brings world one step closer to WWIII

The Times of India

MOSCOW: Russia's foreign minister warned on Monday that any military strike against Iran would be a grave mistake with unpredictable consequences.
Russia, the closest thing Iran has to a big power ally, is deeply opposed to any military action against the Islamic Republic, though Moscow has supported United Nations Security Council sanctions against Iran over its nuclear programme.

Russian ICBM:  Enough to turn Israel into parking lot
The UN nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, is expected this week to issue its most detailed report yet on research in Iran seen as geared to developing atomic bombs. But the Security Council is not expected impose stiffer sanctions as a result.

Israeli media have been rife with speculation that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is working to secure cabinet consensus for an attack on Iranian nuclear installations.

"This would be a very serious mistake fraught with unpredictable consequences," Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said when asked about reports that Israel planned a military strike against Iran.

Lavrov said there could be no military resolution to the Iranian nuclear problem and said the conflicts in Iran's neighbours, Iraq and Afghanistan, had led to human suffering and high numbers of casualties.

A raid on Iran's nuclear facilities would be likely to provoke Tehran into hugely disruptive retaliatory measures in the Gulf that would sever shipping routes and disrupt the flow of oil and gas to export markets, political analysts believe.

Iran is already under four rounds of United Nations sanctions due to concerns about its nuclear programme, which it says is entirely peaceful.
Madman Netanyahu has death wish for self, Israel
Washington is pushing for tighter measures after discovering what it says was an Iranian plot to kill the Saudi ambassador to the United States.

Russia has tried to push Tehran to disclose more details about its nuclear work to ease international concerns.

Senior Russian security officials accept that the West has legitimate concerns about the nuclear programme though Moscow says there is no clear evidence that Iran is trying to make a nuclear bomb.

Any military strike against Iran would be likely to sour ties between the West and Russia, whose leader, Vladimir Putin, is almost certain to win a presidential election in March.
Obama, Clinton think they can survive WWIII

"There is no military solution to the Iranian nuclear problem as there is no military solution to any other problem in the modern world," said Lavrov, who has served as foreign minister since 2004.

"This is confirmed to us every day when we see how the problems of the conflicts around Iran are being resolved -- whether Iraq or Afghanistan or what is happening in other countries in the region. Military intervention only leads to many times more deaths and human suffering."

Lavrov added that talks between Britain, China, France, Russia, the United States, Germany and Iran should be resumed as soon as possible.

STRATFOR: Intelligence Guidance: Europe's Debt Crisis

Traitor Papandreau loses all around, coward Greek sheep follow American counterparts circling the drain

Editor’s Note: The following is an internal STRATFOR document produced to provide high-level guidance to our analysts. This document is not a forecast, but rather a series of guidelines for understanding and evaluating events, as well as suggestions on areas for focus.

Escalating European Debt Crisis

Next week will be one for damage control in Europe, but at the moment it appears there will not be an imminent crisis. The most critical problem Europe faces is that the October modifications to the bailout fund — the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF) — have already failed. Originally the EFSF enjoyed 440 billion euros in full state guarantees; the facility would then use those guarantees to raise capital on private markets. The October changes reduced those guarantees from 100 percent to a number between 15 and 30 percent (the specifics are still being worked out).

Papandreau getting his orders from Merkel
This froze interest in the EFSF bonds. As a minimum step the Europeans need to find a way to quickly restore the facility’s fundraising capability.
The finance ministers of the 17 eurozone governments will meet Nov. 7 and EU finance ministers will meet Nov. 8 to tackle this problem. The easiest way to do that would be to retract the changes made in October and restore the full sovereign guarantees that the facility uses to raise money. Doing this will hardly solve the ongoing financial crisis, but it would at least grant Europe a semblance of a safety net.

Watch closely to see if there is any chance of next week’s summits ending with a restoration of meaningful bailout capacity. If not, then Europe’s downward slide will gather considerable momentum.

We need to be looking ahead to the more immediate threat to the European Union forming in Italy. Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s government is fraying badly. Berlusconi has no successor in his own People of Freedom party, and his sole coalition partner — the Northern League — is threatening to quit the government over EU-recommended austerity measures. Berlusconi’s budget hits the parliament Nov. 8 with prospects so slim that Berlusconi has already scheduled a confidence vote linked to the budget for Nov. 15. If it fails, the Italian government falls. That in turn could sufficiently scare the markets to the point that Italy would face a cutoff from capital markets within days. This coming week — the week before the confidence vote — will be our best chance to evaluate how the Northern League will act.

Opinion: Will Obama and Democrats Have OWS Blood on Their Hands Soon?

Just a matter of time; fruitcake, steroid -addled cops will shoot some protester in face with real gun sparking the real thing

The Examiner
By Jeffery Klein

We have all seen the video and reports about the Occupy Wall Street rallies, occurring all over the country for the past six weeks.  But now, the tone is beginning to change as the "huddled masses" are becoming more and more violent.

Occupy Oakland seems to be the indicator of what is to come, a tactical situation that is mobile, diverse and dangerous, creating an immediate threat to life and property--all thanks to newly elected Mayor Jean Quan (D).

Marine Scott Olsen was shot in face by crazed Oakland pigs
Quan, 62, a former school board president and city council member, was surprisingly elected mayor last year, succeeding Ron Dellums. She defeated the heavily-favored front-runner, former state Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata, in a narrow race thanks to the city's ranked-choice voting system.

However, it seems as though she is desperately channeling the incompetent Hurricane Katrina, government leaders, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin (D), and the Governor of Louisiana, Kathleen Blanco (D).

Quan's critics say she has struggled to formulate a coherent response to the Occupy encampment that has overtaken the plaza in front of Oakland City Hall for the past few weeks.

Her "support" of the Occupy Oakland protests has furthered strained her thin relationship with the city's police force, as last week they were ordered to "de-camp" the protesters, which required a tear gas laddened encounter that cost the city $1 million--only to have Quan allow the protesters to return the next day, according to a November 2, 2011 Associated Press article on FOXNews.com.

Since then, Oakland's city attorney and police chief have both quit over philosophical differences with Quan and dozens of residents have recently signed a petition seeking to recall her.

"It was sort of remarkable that she was able to alienate both sides," said University of San Francisco political scientist Corey Cook of Quan's relationship with protesters and police. "She has no friends at this point."

NYPD pigs stay well clear of Marine Sgt. Shamar Thomas
Joseph Haraburda, head of the Oakland Chamber of Commerce, said Tuesday that her decision to allow protesters back into the plaza was a "grave error" that is hurting downtown stores, banks and restaurants.

Once again, Quan said that she and the city support the Occupy Oakland movement and its planned general strike [this past] Wednesday, when protesters plan several large gatherings through downtown, culminating in an early evening march to the Port of Oakland.

Quan said she hoped Wednesday's strike would be peaceful and that she was working with police to ensure the protesters' issues are "front and center."

"It's an intolerable situation," Haraburda said. "There needs to be an end game. When will this end? As long as this continues, the impact on business is going to be a downward spiral."

Hopped-up Oakland pigs destroy, loot Occupy Oakland camp
Mr. Haraburda's words were an erie prophesy to events that would occur just hours later, according to a follow up Associated Press article the next day.

The day's events in Oakland began with a rally outside City Hall that drew more than 3,000 people who spilled into the streets and disrupted the downtown commute.  Protesters hung a large black banner that read:

    "Occupy Everything, DEATH TO CAPITALISM."

The crowd included students, families with young children and many people wearing labor union T-shirts. "Shut down the 1 percent. We are the 99 percent," they chanted.

The confrontation began after protesters started a large bonfire in the middle of a downtown street, and as the flames leapt more than 15 feet in the air, dozens of police in riot gear moved in on hundreds of protesters.

Oakland pigs targeted individual protesters
Then, police clashed with protesters for five hours at the Port of Oakland, which effectively shut down operations at the nation's fifth-busiest shipping port, with an stimated crowd of about 3,000 at the height of the demonstration around dusk.

Port spokesman Isaac Kos-Read said evening operations had been "effectively shut down."
And later port officials released a statement saying that maritime activity would be cancelled indefinitely, but they hoped to resume work yesterday.

"Our hope is that the work day can resume [yesterday] and that Port workers will be allowed to get to their jobs without incident.  Continued missed shifts represent economic hardship for maritime workers, truckers, and their families, as well as lost jobs and lost tax revenue for our region."

Isn't it interesting that Mayor Quan, who is a deeply liberal Democrat, with no real business experience--just academia and politics, acts just like Mayor Bloomberg and exactly like President Obama--protect the liberal ideology at all costs!

However, fanning the "flames" of an out-of-control anarchistic mob, in the middle of the economic engines of your community, while leaving the law enforcement professionals "handcuffed" to their desks is logical to them--as they have never personally "created" anything economic in  their lives!

"Duuuuhhh" - Obama on Occupiers
Their messiah, President Barack Hussein Obama, has only one objective--his own re-election.  And, regardless of the disasterous record from the full court press of the Democrat liberal ideology hoisted upon America since 2006.

Now, in an effort to "ignite" important segments of their voter base, primarily college students.

This could be your daughter; how would you react?
Combine that with the fact that liberal and Democrat Mayors control the cities where OWS is most active, and have mis-managed the tactical situations to virtually assure the de-campments will end in serious violence, or even deaths, is growing by the day.

The question now is, whose son or daughter, father or mother, protester or policeman, will be the first victim of this violence?

Unfortunately for the Democrats, if and when it happens, the blood will clearly be on their hands.
