Wayne Madsen Report: "Which office do I go to to get my reputation back?"

The Obama War Criminals will soon find out that they are going to lose their freedom along with their "reputations"

Wayne Madsen Report

"Which office do I go to to get my reputation back?" Those were the words of former Reagan Labor Secretary Raymond Donovan after he was acquitted on fraud charges on May 25, 1987.

Those same words and their attribution to Donovan appear on a t-shirt given to former Democratic U.S. Representative Eric Massa by a legal team representing the office of U.S. House Employment Counsel after their determination that Massa, a retired U.S. Navy Commander, did not sexually harass male members of his staff. Massa experienced a stormy resignation from Congress and a hasty departure from Washington after unsubstantiated rumors surfaced that he had engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with his male staffers. The rumors, as shall be described, emanated from a closely-connected group of gay congressional staffers on the Hill, many of whom once worked for openly gay Massachusetts Democrat Barney Frank, the ranking member of the House Financial Services Committee, the chief overseer over Wall Street firms.

Eric Massa
As the carefully-engineered "scandal" began to spell the end of Massa's term as a House member, Massa recalled how then-White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel confronted him, naked, in the shower of the House gym, after Massa's first eight weeks in office. Emanuel berated Massa for not supporting President Obama's health care bill, poking Massa in the chest with his finger.   It turns out that Emanuel, a former House member, spent every morning hanging around the House gym's showers. Massa, just hours away from resigning his seat, told a radio interviewer that Emanuel was "the son of the devil's spawn," adding, "he is an individual who would sell his mother to get a vote.

Emanuel's hang-out
He would strap his children to the front end of a steam locomotive." ladies and gentlemen, you live today in a world that is so innocent as to not understand what's going on in Washington, D.C."

At the time, Massa believed that it was his opposition to "Obamacare" that made him a target of Emanuel.

However, WMR has learned that the effort to scandalize Massa had even deeper roots, roots that made the first-term congressman a problem for the power structure embedded in Washington, Wall Street, and Jerusalem.

Rahm Emanuel at Obama's inauguration
Massa was a one-time aide to NATO military commander General Wesley Clark but had to retire from the Navy medical reasons having been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Massa fully recovered from the cancer and ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. House against GOP incumbent Randy Kuhl in 2006. In 2008, in a re-match in a Democratic year, Massa narrowly defeated Kuhl in the traditionally conservative Republican district, long dominated by its chief employer, Corning Glass, and its owners, the Houghton family. In fact, Kuhl's predecessor was Amo Houghton, scion of the Corning owners, but a dying breed in the GOP -- a social liberal and fiscal conservative. It was by adopting such a political brand that helped Massa best Kuhl for the normally Republican seat in 2008. It also helped that Clark and former president Bill Clinton campaigned for Massa. Not forthcoming with campaign help was Emanuel and his Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee money. Emanuel never supported Massa's bid for the House.

However, Massa's success resulted in a number of hidden agendas confronting him from the outset. Massa opposed natural gas "fracking" in his state of New York, not popular with the powerful oil and gas lobby; raised the red flags of treasonous behavior with top Pentagon brass as it became known that General David Petraeus, the commander of CENTCOM and NATO forces in Afghanistan, was meeting with top GOP officials, including former Vice President Dick Cheney, to plot out a run for the White House in 2012 against Petraeus's own Commander-in-Chief; and opposed the Wall Street bailouts and pocket-lining inherent with Obama's stimulus package and health care program.

CIA Director David Petraeus
But as much as his opposition to Obama, the gas industry, and the machinations of Petraeus may have placed him in jeopardy, it was Massa's meeting with one of his constituents, in the far northern reaches of his 29th District, in Rochester, that spelled his doom, as many similar stances in the past have resulted in a trail of destroyed political careers, from Secretary of Defense James Forrestal to Senators Charles Percy and J. William Fulbright, and Representatives Paul Findlay, Pete McCloskey, James Traficant, and Cynthia McKinney.

In a carefully unpublicized meeting, Massa met with John Hrankowski, a survivor of the unprovoked and wilfull 1967 Israeli attack on the National Security Agency (NSA) intelligence collection ship, the USS Liberty and the chief promoter of the USS Liberty Memorial in Rochester, a landmark that was vigorously opposed by Jewish groups and the Israeli Lobby. Hrankowski died in March but the memorial in honor of the 34 US Navy and NSA personnel killed by Israeli aircraft strafing and torpedo boats, as well as the rest of the crew, lives on, despite the concerted efforts by many American Jews and the Israel Lobby to obliterate the memory of the ship from history.

USS Liberty after Israeli jet attack
Already considered by the House leadership, including House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, whose sister was once the executive director of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), as not in lockstep with the Obama and Emanuel agenda, Massa was targeted in a campaign by a powerful group that is only whispered about on Capitol Hill -- the "Lavender Mafia," a group of openly and closeted gay staffers with close links, including past employment, with the office of Barney Frank.

Upon winning his seat in 2008, Massa was forced by the House Democratic leadership to accept as his chief-of-staff a gay Frank staffer, Joe Racalto, a one-time intern and driver for Frank who was brought into Frank's office by Robert Raben, a former Frank counsel and now the head of the Raben Group, which counts some of Wall Street's top firms as clients, firms over which Frank has oversight authority.

Barney Frank on the job
After Massa met with Hrankowski, a person described as Massa's "AIPAC overseer," approached him and asked why he had met with the former Liberty crewman. There was an obvious leak in Massa's office.

Soon, Racalto began conspiring with Frank's chief of staff to undermine Massa with a contrived sex scandal. Massa's "salty" Navy language around his office began to be twisted into "sexual harassment" issues, including later charges by Racalto that he had been harassed by Massa.

Barney Frank off the job
In a Closing Argument made by House Office of Compliance attorneys Gloria Lett, Victoria Botvin, and Randall Robertson, it is stated: "Racalto never once alleged that he had been sexually harassed by Massa, and never once reported or complained about anyone that he had been sexually harassed . . . In short, this sexual harassment action is just one more of Racalto's strategic attempts to unjustly enrich himself through a calculated and manipulative series of lies." Helping Racalto in his "legal defense fund" is none other than Raben, the Wall Street lobbyist.

Joe Racalto
WMR has also learned from 29th District sources that Racalto maintained a relationship with Massa's announced GOP challenger, Tom Reed, at the same time that Racalto served as Massa's chief of staff. Reed, who was the mayor of Corning and is married with children, had been implicated in an attempt to conduct a sexual foursome after meeting two of Massa's female staffers in a Corning bar. Whether Racalto used this information to cut a side deal for future favors from Reed is not known but it is clear that a relationship developed between Massa's chief of staff and his Republican challenger.

Karl Rove
There is little doubt that Massa faced two formidable but hidden opponents: Rahm Emanuel, who never supported Massa's bid for the House, and Karl Rove, the GOP's rottweiler on keeping Democrats out of safe GOP districts. But could Emanuel and Rove have worked together, through people like Frank, Reed, Racalto, and others, to topple Massa?

Such a scenario is likely considering that Rove's 2012 candidate, Mitt Romney, is benefiting from the sex scandal meltdown of pizza magnate Herman Cain. There are reports that some of the sexual dirt on Cain originated with Rahm Emanuel, now the mayor of Chicago, placing Rove and Emanuel in the same sty of political mud.

However, blackmail-able information is the stock-in-trade for the "Lavender Mafia." New York Democratic Representative Bernard Higgins, who is married and represents the Buffalo area 27th District, has not been thrown out of Congress, even though congressional sources report that Higgins shares a bed in a Washington apartment with a male staffer.

In a series of e-mails obtained by WMR, it is clear that Massa was the subject of unsubstantiated rumor mongering and that rumors served as the basis for The Washington Post's exaggerated reporting on Massa's "alleged" conduct beyond the use of "salty language." In one e-mail, dated March 9, 2010, from the Post's Carol Leonnig to Racalto, she states "we will be reporting that allegations [emphasis added] involving Cong. Massa involved far more than 'salty language," based on numerous allegations of a pattern of physical sexual harassment of male staffers in his office and groping." However, there was never any formal complaints about such behavior from Massa's staffers, including his own chief of staff who only filed charges after Massa's resignation, charges that were rejected by the House Office of Compliance's counsels.

Senator John McCain
As far as "salty language," Massa's language was no more "salty" than that used by fellow Navy veteran Senator John McCain, whose foul mouth in the Congress is legendary, and the equally "salty" Baltimore longshoreman's language from Senator Barbara Mikulski.

In an e-mail, dated March 4, 2010, from Scott Brown, a reporter for WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, to Racalto, it is stated that Hoyer's office was informed about Massa's alleged activities on February 8 and that Massa's staff, again according to Hoyer's office, had notified the Ethics Committee within 48 hours. Brown said that before Politico reported on the Ethics Committee probe, Massa said he was unaware of it. Racalto was allowing the manufactured scandal to grow legs of its own. In another March 4, 2010, e-mail, Raymond Hernandez of The New York Times, wrote Racalto: "In the email you sent last night, you said that there has been no formal complaint filed with the Ethics Committee. That is at odds with the statement released by Majority Leady [sic] Steny Hoyer. Could you explain this inconsistency? In addition, you said that Mr. Massa had not been contacted by the committee. But it is my understanding that representatives of the committee visited his office yesterday. Has the congressman or any person on his staff been contacted by the committee?"

Racalto's response to Hernandez: "Congressman Massa has not been contacted by the Committee on Official Standards and Conduct. It is obvious that Congressman cannot comment on a matter about which he has been given no information and I am unable to comment because there is no formal complaint to comment on."

Then, Racalto, adds in a statement worthy of the Kremlin during the Cold War, "Congressman Massa is retiring for health reasons."

On February 26 and 27, Racalto was in e-mail communication with Frank's chief of staff Maria Giesta. It was clear that Racalto and Giesta were conspiring to bring the unsubstantiated allegations against Massa to a head and the role of Frank's office in undermining Massa cannot be emphasized more. After all, the only thing that Frank is more committed to than gay rights is support for Israel and Frank had the means, via his Lavender Mafia, and the desire to see Massa dumped from the House. Click here for an unusual e-mail exchange between Giestra and Racalto.

Maria E. Giesta,
Chief of Staff and Staff Director
Congressman Barney Frank

To Racalto:  By the way honey do you have some extra Viagra

Racalto to Giesta:  Sorry, fell asleep - yes I do.

Giesta to Racalto:  I hope you're OK.  I need one of you spare it [another e-mail from Giestra requests a Dr. Patel's phone number.]

Racalto to Giesta:  At airport - have a mtg with lawyers at 11.

Giesta to Racalto:  Where are you going?

Racalto to Giesta:  I'm meeting with attorneys in nyc - I want to make sure we are all set legally (if this investigation goes formal.)

Then, on March 7, Giesta tips her hand on Frank's role in Massa's "scandal" in an e-mail to Racalto:

Giesta to Racalto:  Make sure you get your severence [sic] before going postal on Massa. [Congressional sources have told WMR that in mid-March 2010, Racalto promised to all Massa staffers who levelled sexual harassment charges against Massa that they would receive $300,000 each.] [Racalto also falsely represented to Massa's campaign committee that he was due $40,000 as a "campaign management fee," which Massa denies was authorized. The media spin was that the $40,000 was some sort of "hush money."]

On February 26, there was the following from Giesta to Racalto:  Hi. I can definitely loan you some money - no problem.

On February 22, Racalto was, according to his House e-mail, negotiating a $50 - 60,000 job with AIDS Community Resources.

On February 26, in a harbinger of what would befall Massa, Giesta sent another e-mail to Racalto:

Well it looks like Patterson [sic] is not going to run for Governor - good news!!

[The reference is to New York Democratic Governor David Paterson, who succeeded Governor Eliot Spitzer, who resigned after another contrived sex "scandal."]

Massa is now unemployed in Corning and wonders if he can hold on to his house. He muses while raking leaves on his lawn how much more of a difference he could make if he were able to speak during House "special orders" on the problems of Wall Street and the outrageous behavior of Washington politics that puts special interests first and citizens at the bottom of the priority list. However, in a city of deception and perfidy, there is no office where Massa can go to get his reputation back.

Meanwhile, for Frank, his staffers, and the congressional "Lavender Mafia," the Viagra, crystal meth, and booze continue to make for a gay old time.

Does the U.S. sponsor terrorism?

Hell yes it does and is about to pull off the biggest terrorist attack in history:  Attacking Iran

Press TV
By Kourosh Ziabari11/04/2011

The White House officials and their allies in Europe are used to accusing independent countries such as Iran of sponsoring terrorism and backing terrorist activities.

Obama following, trying to fill his God Bush's shoes
The latest episode in the Washington's dramatic farce of mudslinging against Iran was the accusation leveled by the US officials that Iran had hired a Mexican drug gang to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to Washington, Adel Al-Jubeir.

Even the most optimistic apologists of the US government failed to justify this ludicrous claim and many political pundits around the world embraced it with contempt.

However, it seems that the White House's gambit has backfired and the table has turned as Iran is presenting documents and evidence which show that the US has been actively involved in terrorist activities around the world and unreservedly funded and upheld terrorist gangs and groups, even those which are now the target of America's drone attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Last day, during a speech delivered on the anniversary of Iranian students' takeover of the US embassy in Tehran on November 4, 1979, the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili displayed two sets of documents which revealed the involvement of the US in terrorist acts and its ties with notorious terrorist gangs and elements around the world.

The US has perpetually directed accusations against countries like Iran and charged them with backing terrorism; however, even the American officials who make such claims are themselves well aware of the fact that their accusations are tempest in teapot and devoid of any reliability and truthfulness.

By tracing the footsteps of almost every terrorist group in the world, one can find signs which indicate America's connection with those groups and a clear example is CIA's sponsorship of Al-Qaeda under the leadership of Osama Bin Laden during the 1990s that aimed at helping the Afghan Mujahideen fight the Soviet forces in Afghan-Soviet war.

In an article published in the November - December 2001 issue of "International Socialist Review," Phil Gasper unveiled the surreptitious connections of CIA and the US government with Bin Laden and the combatants affiliated with him.

After the Soviet forces invaded Afghanistan, President Jimmy Carter immediately declared that the invasion jeopardized vital US interests, because the Persian Gulf area was threatened by Soviet troops in Afghanistan. "But the Carter administration's public outrage at Russian intervention in Afghanistan was doubly duplicitous. Not only was it used as an excuse for a program of increased military expenditure that had in fact already begun, but the US had in fact been aiding the Mujahideen for at least the previous six months, with precisely the hope of provoking a Soviet response. Former CIA director Robert Gates later admitted in his memoirs that aid to the rebels began in June 1979. In a candid 1998 interview, Zbigniew Brezinski, Carter's national security adviser, confirmed that U.S. aid to the rebels began before the invasion," wrote Gasper.

Phil Gasper further explains that when Bin Laden joined the Afghan Mujahideen, he had already recruited some 4,000 volunteers from Saudi Arabia and developed close ties with the most radical Mujahideen leaders. "He also worked closely with the CIA, raising money from private Saudi citizens."

According to Boston Globe, "since September 11, CIA officials have been claiming they had no direct link to Bin Laden. These denials lack credibility. Earlier this year, the trial of defendants accused of the 1998 U.S. embassy bombing in Kenya disclosed that the CIA shipped high-powered sniper rifles directly to Bin Laden's operation in 1989. Even the Tennessee-based manufacturer of the rifles confirmed this."

In a 2006, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation published that "Bin Laden has apparently received training from the CIA, which was backing the Afghan holy warriors - the Mujahedeen - who were tying down Soviet forces in Afghanistan."

In an article published in Der Spiegel in 2007, "Arming the Middle East," Siegesmund von Ilsemann called Bin Laden "one of the CIA's best weapons customers."

But the connection of the US to the terrorist groups is not confined to its clandestine ties with Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda. The US is proved to have closely worked with, supported and financed Jundallah, a dangerous, extremist terrorist group based in Pakistan's Balochistan. The terrorist group has so far killed more than 400 Iranian soldiers and even made failed attempts at assassinating high-ranking Iranian officials.

A report by Brian Ross and Christopher Isham of ABC News in April 2007 revealed that Jundallah "has been secretly encouraged and advised by American officials" to destabilize the government in Iran, citing the US and Pakistani tribal and intelligence sources. The report said that US Vice President Dick Cheney had discussed the activity of the group against Iran during his visit to Pakistan in 2007.

On February 23, 2010, the Jundallah leader Abdolmalek Rigi was arrested by the Iranian officials while he was onboard a plane heading toward Kyrgyzstan from Dubai. At a later time, Bishkek airport confirmed that Kyrgyzstan Airways flight QH454 from Dubai had arrived several hours late after being intercepted by Iranian fighter jets over the Persian Gulf.

The shocking confessions of Rigi after being captured, which were broadcast by Iranian TV channels and flagrantly shunned by the Western mainstream media, showed that he had been closely working with the US and receiving enormous financial and military support from them. "The Americans said Iran was going its own way and they said our problem at the present is Iran… not Al-Qaeda and not the Taliban, but the main problem is Iran. We don't have a military plan against Iran. Attacking Iran is very difficult for us (the US). They [Americans] promised to help us and they said that they would co-operate with us, free our prisoners and would give us [Jundallah] military equipment, bombs, machine guns, and they would give us a base."

In an interview with Press TV, Rigi stated that the Americans under NATO or the Israelis had approached him to take Jundallah's conflict from the Baluchi regions into the capital Tehran. The interview was broadcast by Press TV on May 19, 2010.

But establishing the connections with terrorist groups simply constitutes a small part of the United States' terrorist acts. The US has directly waged numerous destructive wars which have taken the lives of millions of people. In an article published on "Insight Magazine" by Philip Bradbury in November 2001, it was revealed that "since 1952, the United States of America has promoted, financed and participated in over 20 separate wars" which killed over 8,000,000 people.

For example, only between 1954 and 1975, 4,000,000 Vietnamese and Cambodians were killed at the hands of the American soldiers.

What's clear is that the US is an all-out and absolute sponsor of terrorism and its role in the suffering and pains of nations around the world cannot be neglected. The terrorist actions and policies of the US government defy description and are beyond the pale. Even if they accuse Iran or Cuba of sponsoring terrorism, the US officials cannot deny that they're the world's first and foremost promoter and sponsor of state terrorism.

UK military steps up plans for Iran attack amid fresh nuclear fears

British officials consider contingency options to back up a possible US action as fears mount over Tehran's capability

Britain's armed forces are stepping up their contingency planning for potential military action against Iran amid mounting concern about Tehran's nuclear enrichment programme, the Guardian has learned.

The Ministry of Defence believes the US may decide to fast-forward plans for targeted missile strikes at some key Iranian facilities. British officials say that if Washington presses ahead it will seek, and receive, UK military help for any mission, despite some deep reservations within the coalition government

Iranian ballistic missile
In anticipation of a potential attack, British military planners are examining where best to deploy Royal Navy ships and submarines equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles over the coming months as part of what would be an air and sea campaign.

They also believe the US would ask permission to launch attacks from Diego Garcia, the British Indian ocean territory, which the Americans have used previously for conflicts in the Middle East.

The Guardian has spoken to a number of Whitehall and defence officials over recent weeks who said Iran was once again becoming the focus of diplomatic concern after the revolution in Libya.

They made clear that Barack Obama, has no wish to embark on a new and provocative military venture before next November's presidential election.

But they warned the calculations could change because of mounting anxiety over intelligence gathered by western agencies, and the more belligerent posture that Iran appears to have been taking.

Hawks in the US are likely to seize on next week's report from the International Atomic Energy Agency, which is expected to provide fresh evidence of a possible nuclear weapons programme in Iran.

Madman Mullen:  "Kill them all, let God sort them out"
The Guardian has been told that the IAEA's bulletin could be "a game changer" which will provide unprecedented details of the research and experiments being undertaken by the regime.

One senior Whitehall official said Iran had proved "surprisingly resilient" in the face of sanctions, and sophisticated attempts by the west to cripple its nuclear enrichment programme had been less successful than first thought.

He said Iran appeared to be "newly aggressive, and we are not quite sure why", citing three recent assassination plots on foreign soil that the intelligence agencies say were coordinated by elements in Tehran.

In addition to that, officials now believe Iran has restored all the capability it lost in a sophisticated cyber-attack last year. The Stuxnet computer worm, thought to have been engineered by the Americans and Israelis, sabotaged many of the centrifuges the Iranians were using to enrich uranium.

Up to half of Iran's centrifuges were disabled by Stuxnet or were thought too unreliable to work, but diplomats believe this capability has now been recovered, and the IAEA believes it may even be increasing.

Ministers have also been told that the Iranians have been moving some more efficient centrifuges into the heavily-fortified military base dug beneath a mountain near the city of Qom.

Iranian Hawk missiles
The concern is that the centrifuges, which can be used to enrich uranium for use in weapons, are now so well protected within the site that missile strikes may not be able to reach them. The senior Whitehall source said the Iranians appeared to be shielding "material and capability" inside the base.

Another Whitehall official, with knowledge of Britain's military planning, said that within the next 12 months Iran may have hidden all the material it needs to continue a covert weapons programme inside fortified bunkers. He said this had necessitated the UK's planning being taken to a new level.

"Beyond [12 months], we couldn't be sure our missiles could reach them," the source said. "So the window is closing, and the UK needs to do some sensible forward planning. The US could do this on their own but they won't.

Iranian troops will cause tens of thousands of U.S., U.K. deaths
"So we need to anticipate being asked to contribute. We had thought this would wait until after the US election next year, but now we are not so sure.

"President Obama has a big decision to make in the coming months because he won't want to do anything just before an election."

Another source added there was "no acceleration towards military action by the US, but that could change". Next spring could be a key decision-making period, the source said. The MoD has a specific team considering the military options against Iran.

The Guardian has been told that planners expect any campaign to be predominantly waged from the air, with some naval involvement, using missiles such as the Tomahawks, which have a range of 800 miles (1,287 km). There are no plans for a ground invasion, but "a small number of special forces" may be needed on the ground, too.

The RAF could also provide air-to-air refuelling and some surveillance capability, should they be required. British officials say any assistance would be cosmetic: the US could act on its own but would prefer not to.

An MoD spokesman said: "The British government believes that a dual track strategy of pressure and engagement is the best approach to address the threat from Iran's nuclear programme and avoid regional conflict. We want a negotiated solution – but all options should be kept on the table."

Media will not be able to cover up this many casualties
The MoD says there are no hard and fast blueprints for conflict but insiders concede that preparations there and at the Foreign Office have been under way for some time.

One official said: "I think that it is fair to say that the MoD is constantly making plans for all manner of international situations. Some areas are of more concern than others. "It is not beyond the realms of possibility that people at the MoD are thinking about what we might do should something happen on Iran.

It is quite likely that there will be people in the building who have thought about what we would do if commanders came to us and asked us if we could support the US. The context for that is straightforward contingency planning."

Washington has been warned by Israel against leaving any military action until it is too late.

Western intelligence agencies say Israel will demand that the US act if it believes its own military cannot launch successful attacks to stall Iran's nuclear programme. A source said the "Israelis want to believe that they can take this stuff out", and will continue to agitate for military action if Iran continues to play hide and seek.

It is estimated that Iran, which has consistently said it is interested only in developing a civilian nuclear energy programme, already has enough enriched uranium for between two and four nuclear weapons.
Experts believe it could be another two years before Tehran has a ballistic missile delivery system.

British officials admit to being perplexed by what they regard as Iran's new aggressiveness, saying that they have been shown convincing evidence that Iran was behind the murder of a Saudi diplomat in Karachi in May, as well as the audacious plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in Washington, which was uncovered last month.

"There is a clear dotted line from Tehran to the plot in Washington," said one.

Earlier this year, the IAEA reported that it had evidence Tehran had conducted work on a highly sophisticated nuclear triggering technology that could only be used for setting off a nuclear device.

It also said it was "increasingly concerned about the possible existence in Iran of past or current undisclosed nuclear-related activities involving military-related organisations, including activities related to the development of a nuclear payload for a missile."

Last year, the UN security council imposed a fourth round of sanctions on Iran to try to deter Tehran from pursuing any nuclear ambitions.

At the weekend, the New York Times reported that the US was looking to build up its military presence in the region, with one eye on Iran.

According to the paper, the US is considering sending more naval warships to the area, and is seeking to expand military ties with the six countries in the Gulf Co-operation Council: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

Global Warfare: Targeting Iran: Preparing for World War III

Somebody has to take these madmen out, before they destroy the world; if nukes needed to stop Netanyahu, so be it

Global Research
By Michel Chossudovsky11/04/2011

The military deployment of US-NATO forces is occurring in several regions of the World simultaneously.

Militarization at the global level is instrumented through the US military's Unified Command structure: the entire planet is divided up into geographic Combatant Commands under the control of the Pentagon. According to (former) NATO Commander General Wesley Clark, the Pentagon’s military road-map consists of a sequence of war theaters: “[The] five-year campaign plan [includes]... a total of seven countries, beginning with Iraq, then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Iran, Somalia and Sudan.”

Iran military takes casualties in chemical weapons training
The Pentagon’s global military design is one of world conquest.

A War on Iran has been on the drawing board of The Pentagon since 2004.

Iran's alleged nuclear weapons programme is the pretext and the justification. Tehran is also identified as a "State sponsor of terrorism", for allegedly supporting the Al Qaeda network.

In recent developments, what is unfolding is an integrated attack plan on Iran led by the US, with the participation of the United Kingdom and Israel.

While the media has presented Israeli and British military planning pertaining to Iran as separate initiatives, what we are dealing with is an integrated and coordinated US led military endeavor.

In early November, Israel confirmed that it is preparing to launch air attacks against Iran's nuclear facilities, without however acknowledging that this would be carried out as part of a US led initative:

In contrast to heavy weapons, Iran ground forces well equipped
Reportedly, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has recently sought to drum up cabinet support for a military strike against the nuclear sites of the Islamic republic of Iran. In joint efforts with the defense minister Ehud Barak, Netanyahu has succeeded in wringing support for such a reckless act from the skeptics who were already opposed to launching an attack on Iran. Among those he managed to convince was Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

There are still those in the Israeli cabinet who are against such a move including Interior Minister Eli Yishai of the ultra-Orthodox Shas party, Intelligence Minister Dan Meridor, Strategic Affairs Minister and Netanyahu confidant Moshe Yaalon, Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz, army chief Benny Gantz, the head of Israel's intelligence agency Tamir Pardo, the chief of military intelligence Aviv Kochavi and the head of Israel's domestic intelligence agency Yoram Cohen.

However, the support voiced by Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman is considered an ace in the hole for Netanyahu who also enjoys the full-throated support of Washington.

In a show of military prowess and obvious brinkmanship, Israel test-fired a nuke capable missile on Wednesday which cannot be taken as a coincidence considering the threat made by Netanyahu. ( Ismail Salami. An Israel Attack on Iran: Military Suicide , Global Research, November 3, 2011)

Meanwhile, the British government has also signified that it will participate in a US led attack on Iran:

The Ministry of Defence believes the US may decide to fast-forward plans for targeted missile strikes at some key Iranian facilities. British officials say that if Washington presses ahead it will seek, and receive, UK military help for any mission, despite some deep reservations within the coalition government.

(The Guardian, November 2, 2011 http://globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=27439)

The War on Syria

There is a military roadmap characterised by a sequence of US-NATO war theaters.

Like the other Arab tyrants, Assad will not go quietly
In the wake of the war on Libya, there are also war plans directed against under NATO's Responsibility to Protect (R2P). These plans are integrated with those pertaining to Iran. The road to Tehran goes through Damascus. A US-NATO sponsored war on Iran would involve, as a first step, a destabilization campaign ("regime change") including covert intelligence operations in support of rebel forces directed against the Syrian government

The World is at dangerous crossroads.

Were a US-NATO military operation to be launched against either Syria or Iran, the broader Middle East Central Asian region extending from North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean to the Afghanistan-Pakistan border with China would be engulfed in the turmoil of an extended regional war.

There are at present four distinct war theaters: Afghanistan-Pakistan, Iraq, Palestine and Libya.

An attack on Syria would lead to the integration of these separate war theaters, eventually leading towards a broader Middle East-Central Asian war.

In turn, a war on Syria would evolve towards a US-NATO military campaign directed against Iran, in which Turkey and Israel would be directly involved. It would also contribute to the ongoing destabilization of Lebanon.

Central to an understanding of war, is the media campaign which grants it legitimacy in the eyes of public opinion. A good versus evil dichotomy prevails. The perpetrators of war are presented as the victims. Public opinion is misled: “We must fight against evil in all its forms as a means to preserving the Western way of life.” Breaking the "big lie" which upholds war as a humanitarian undertaking, means breaking a criminal project of global destruction, in which the quest for profit is the overriding force. This profit-driven military agenda destroys human values and transforms people into unconscious zombies.

The holding of mass demonstrations and antiwar protests is not enough. What is required is the development of a broad and well organized grassroots antiwar network, across the land, nationally and internationally, which challenges the structures of power and authority. People must mobilize not only against the military agenda, the authority of the state and its officials must also be challenged. This war can be prevented if people forcefully confront their governments, pressure their elected representatives, organize at the local level in towns, villages and municipalities, spread the word, inform their fellow citizens as to the implications of a nuclear war, initiate debate and discussion within the armed forces.

The objective is to forcefully reverse the tide of war, challenge the war criminals in high office and the powerful corporate lobby groups which support them.

Break the American Inquisition.

Undermine the US-NATO-Israel military crusade.

Close down the weapons factories and the military bases.

Members of the armed forces should disobey orders and refuse to participate in a criminal war.

    Bring home the troops.

OPINON: World War III A Foregone Conclusion?

Obama, Clinton, Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld et.al. desperate for ANY war to save themselves from War Crimes trials; distract from theft of empty Treasury, failing economy

OPINION

The hypno-induced psychotic public can’t even hear the war drums any more, no matter how loud. They’ve become background music, white noise or something to tap your foot to. With sadistic glee still warm over Gadhafi’s public torture and execution through the streets of Libya, the bloodthirsty mind-controlled western public will count a Syrian overthrow a nice after dinner mint, while monstrous illegal death drone attack reports on innocent civilians in Pakistan and Somalia are savored treats while sipping their morning coffee.

A monstrous world unleashed while citizens nod and sway to the rhythm of dystopian mechanized war and control.

WWIII Conditioning Complete – They Won’t See It Coming

Such is today’s surreal world environment. 10 years of genocidal wars and now these latest barbaric atrocities in Libya have made their inroads even broader, in the middle east and even more in the human mind. And as they continue their saber rattling and massive propaganda campaigns, little do people realize they’re garnering a tsunami of unspoken public permission with each passing day.

U.S. nuclear subs will play a key role
What few are realizing is a war with Iran will no doubt initiate at least a limited nuclear conflagration, the effects of which will change history forever. Diabolically couched as a pre-emptive strike on a rogue nation to save Israel and US interests, such a move will inevitably draw China and Russia into the conflict.

Don’t think so? When you come to realize that’s exactly what they want, that’s when you’ll know you’re waking up.

When you know a New World Order is the desired outcome, you realize the old world order needs to be debunked, crippled and reset. The global financial and economic structure has been brought to the brink. Sovereignty is being scuttled worldwide, and the population is taking to the streets. Need I say more?

UK and U.S. ‘draw up joint plan to attack Iran’: Evidence of nuclear programme raises tension in Middle East:
  • Whitehall figures say Iran is ‘newly aggressive – and we are not sure why’
  • Iran ‘has enough enriched uranium for four nuclear weapons
  • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pushing for invasion
  • Tel Aviv test-fires rockets capable of carrying nuclear warheads into Iran
  • Report reveals China continues to supply Tehran with missiles and other conventional weapons
  • Obama says nuclear programme remains a threat and calls on Iran to reveal its intentions

Mutual Blackmail: Economic Treaty Organization Between Afghanistan, Pakistan and India

Middle East quickly nearing boiling point; Obama administration, CIA  stoking flames; Obama forgets Pakistan has nukes and will use them if attacked

Sir Winston Churchill once said “Americans can always be counted on to do the right thing, after they have exhausted all other possibilities”.

Judging by recent developments in Afghanistan, that quote is likely still true. The American are likely to stumble to the right thing to do, which, is this case would be to create and fund an Economic Treaty Organization between Afghanistan, Pakistan and India that will create all the elements of mutual blackmail by tying together long term economic interests of all the parties involved, thus in time elevating it to the higher level of friendship.

    Sirajuddin Haqqani
After a long and expensive war with many options being tried out along the way, three choices that were reportedly offered to General Kayani by the White House were A) kill the Haqqani leadership, or B) help us kill them, or C) persuade them to join a peaceful, democratic Afghan government.

On initial glance, it does seem more flexible than the stark “Either you are with us or against us” non-choice choice offered to Gen Musharraf by President Bush, but it is not most assuredly. Considering that A and B are really the same, no matter who does the killing, the choice is really between being destroyed or playing ball, i.e. “Either you are dead, or you participate in the process”, and implicit in both choices is the message to give up on terrorism as a policy from the US point of view.

    U.S. "daisy cutter"
After making the US realize that that Pakistan was not likely carry out any military operation against the Haqqani group nor could U.S. military strategy in Afghanistan succeed without the Haqqani group being neutralized, much to its credit, Pakistan was successful in bringing the Haqqanis to the negotiating table, with Sirajuddin Haqqani acknowledging the US offer to participate in the Afghan government, perhaps even with his father Jalaludin Haqqani as the prime minister.

The problems with this setup can be gauged from the words attributed to the senior Haqqani: “After so much killing of Afghans through Daisy Cutter bombs and like, shall I sit in the government under U.S. command?”, given that he is a patriarchal figure in an staunchly tribal society where the concept of reconciliation is as alien as the concept of revenge across generations is ancient.

    Pakistani victims of "daisy cutter"
These recent developments represent an important success for Pakistani policy to date. However, it is a limited success only in that it has the potential of creating an acceptable way forward for all parties, and is most definitely not a victory in the traditional sense of the word. It also represents a new round in a geopolitical process where the risks for Pakistan are increasing as well, and thus future Pakistani actions need, now more than ever, to be cognizant of ground realities and the longer term picture.

The reality is that Al-Qaida has been effectively demolished by the US attacks, and that was the prime goal that has been achieved. US policy will be now geared towards ensuring that it is denied the opportunity to regrow by preventing the return of the previous chaos of Taliban rule. This runs counter to the Pakistani hopes to retain their strategic depth concept by ensuring a pro-Pakistan Afghan setup post US departure, i.e. having the “good” Taliban back in power, and is further complicated by the fact that India clearly realizes this as a golden opportunity to create the foundations of pinching Pakistan from two sides should the opportunity to do so present itself, or indeed is created.

    Deployed daisy cutter
So what to do next? Much has already been said about the Indo-Pak rivalry and history, and how it affects the present conflict as well, but it is high time for a bold idea that takes it into account, and lays the basis for achieving US goals as well, based on the idea that “friendship is merely mutual blackmail elevated to a higher level”. The US should create and fund an Economic Treaty Organization between Afghanistan,

Pakistan and India that will create all the elements of mutual blackmail by tying together long term economic interests of all the parties involved, thus in time elevating it to the higher level of friendship, as already stated above. The return on investment of such a plan is going to be far higher than cleaning up the mess afterwards, and anything less would fail to the detriment of all. After having exhausted all other possibilities, it is high time the Americans did the right thing. Countless millions are counting on it.

Photo Essay : Those Who Face Death

Photojournalist Kate Brooks spent the decade after 9/11 photographing the U.S. military struggles and political upheaval in the Greater Middle East. The following collection is from her time in Iraq in 2003-2004. This is the second installment of a three-part series that features her work from Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt, and Libya

    Forign Policy Magazine

I never once considered whether I would cover the Iraq war. The only question was on which front. After a couple of weeks of waiting around in Kuwait, I decided to pull off assignment and fly to Tehran to slip into northern Iraq.

An Iranian government official met another Time correspondent and I at Tehran airport, and organized immediate transportation for us to the Iran-Iraq border. I spent the early months of the war in the snowy mountains of Kurdistan, covering the ongoing battle between the Sunni Islamist group Ansar al-Islam and the Kurdish armed forces called peshmerga, which literally means "those who face death."

By summer, I had made my way south to cover the rising insurgency. In August, I traveled to the city of Najaf to take pictures of the Shiite religious leader Muqtada al-Sadr, when a massive car bomb detonated at the Tomb of Imam Ali. I jumped out of my car in traffic, my camera straps tangled up with my headscarf, to race toward the scene. As I turned the corner, before my eyes was a scene straight out of hell. Cars were burning. Charred remains of people lay in the street. A man held a dismembered leg up to the sky with a questioning gaze as if he wanted me to tell him what to do.

The following week, colleagues congratulated me on the six pages of pictures published in Time. Yet I had never felt so unhappy about my success.

Above: A man shouts at the site of an explosion. An estimated 135 people were killed in a car bombing at the Tomb of Imam Ali in Najaf in August 2003. The attack targeted Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr and occurred as the faithful were leaving after Friday prayers.

Blood flows through the street at the Tomb of Imam Ali. The bombing killed Ayatollah Mohammed Baqir al-Hakim, a prominent Iraqi politician, who had just delivered a sermon calling for Iraqi unity and nearly 100 others.

A teenage boy lies on the emergency room after the bombing at the Tomb of Imam Ali in Najaf.

In keeping with Iraqi tradition, a corner shopkeeper marked his generator in the blood of a slaughtered sheep, petitioning Allah for continued protection after witnessing a family be shot to death by U.S. forces next to his shop.

Friends who covered Iraq for the years to come and eventually became old Iraq hands often refer to the summer of 2003 as "the good old days." Frankly, I don't remember anything good about them. The 125-degree heat was oppressive and the lack of electricity in homes and vehicles pushed everyone to the edge of their sanity. Iraqis were definitely gaining more religious and political freedom, but at what cost? With increasing frequency the sound of an explosion or small gun battle sent me running to the roof looking for an indication of what was happening.

Above: An Iraqi family grieves the loss of a loved one following the bombing of the United Nation's headquarters.

As we attempted to drive into Saddam's hometown of Tikrit the morning the city fell, a large group of heavily armed, angry Arabs stepped into the street and blocked the way. They spoke about their fear of the Kurds coming into their area to loot, though we knew full well that no Kurd in their right mind would be coming to Saddam's stronghold to pillage. One of the captors perversely forced our Kurdish fixer to translate "We hate Kurds" into English from Arabic, creating even more tension.

Above left: A torn poster of Saddam Hussein hangs in Tikrit. Right: The body of a Baath party member lies in the streets of Kirkuk, while the local Baathist party office burns in the background.

Kurdish soldiers stand over a body of a member of Ansar al Islam killed by U.S. Special Forces. Ansar is an al Qaeda-linked group that had started an insurgency in 2001 against the local population on the outskirts of Halabja, the city where Saddam had gassed the Kurdish population 15 years earlier.

As Saddam Hussein's regime collapsed, I rushed to Kirkuk to witness its liberation. I caught up with a traffic jam of people who were streaming into the disputed Kurdish city. A couple of random Kurds hitched a ride in my car. When I declared with a sigh of relief, "I've waited two months for this moment," one man replied, "I've waited 12 years."

Above three bodies of militants from Komal, an Ansar al Islam splinter group, are laid out on display following the assassination.

Here, residents of the Kurdish city of Chamchamal, who lived in close proximity to Saddam's Republican Guard positions, take refuge from the fighting in a makeshift shelter amongst the rocks.

Kate Brooks is an American photojournalist. Her work has appeared in Newsweek, the New Yorker, the Atlantic, the New York Times, and Smithsonian. The photos in this collection are taken from her new book, In the Light of Darkness: A Photographer's Journey After 9/11.

We have already discussed in the first part of this analysis how the American geography dooms whoever controls the territory to being a global power, but there are a number of other outcomes that shape what that power will be like. The first and most critical is the impact of that geography on the American mindset.
